I’ve been coming here since 1976 and look forward to their corn fritters every season. My mom made great corn fritters back in the 1950’s, but I never had them with maple syrup until I discovered Gould’s! Now I love them even more! Their sausages are delicious and their maple syrup(which you can watch them making) is tops. Coffee is great, service is friendly and efficient. Tip: go as early as possible for breakfast or you may find a long line.

Last year was our first visit to Goulds, we went on the last day of their season. The long wait was worth every minute. They have these corn fritters that are perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy & moist inside. The gentlemen boiling the syrup were very knowledgable and happy to explain the process. We spent the whole year thinking about their great breakfast and look forward to going back.

I will say that I normally do not pay $ 10 for 2 pancakes and 2 bacon however, to enjoy the homemade maple syrup with good food is worth it. If I lived in the area I would be here more often. They are open 830AM to 2pm daily during sugaring season. I would call ahead to make sure

Amazing breakfast! I drive down from Maine a few times a year just to have their pancakes and corn fritters. Also the best maple syrup around.

Came to see the maple tapping this past weekend, which turned out to be lots of fun. This was a great place to see how the maple syrup was actually being made. They had boards which told you about the process. It would have been nice to enjoy a lunch here, especially if the yummy smells were anything to go by but the line looked epic. Maybe next time :)

Like most of the other reviewers, I’ve been coming here for over 20 years, my whole family would go in car-fulls from the Springfield, MA area. Nostalgia is just one reason why I love going back. The food is delicious! Honestly, the best pancakes and waffles I’ve ever had. Everything is made fresh, from the sausage(amazing) to the pickles(crazy addicting), all the way to the syrup. Even a glass of milk comes from a farm nearby. This place is just really special and definitely worth the money. You can even get a small, soft-serve maple ice cream cone for only 25 cents. The only downside is the long wait on weekends. I like to go on a weekday at around 11AM, so I can skip the wait.

My grandparents would drive us up to Gould’s once a year growing up. The pancakes and waffles are SO delicious, and we’d stock up on our ‘good’ maple syrup. When I went to college at UMass, I drove up twice and finally indulged in some maple soft serve during our two hour wait to eat. I was hooked. Now that I live closer to Boston, it’s hard for me to get out there as often, but I sure do miss it! It’s a memorable experience each time.

I have a hard time paying $ 40 for three people to have breakfast, but it really is delicious. We went on a Friday morning and there was no wait. The service was friendly, prompt and helpful. We had corn fritters, blueberry pancakes and french toast. They were all delicious, but I’m still thinking about the yummy corn fritters. The sausage was delicious as well. After breakfast we shopped downstairs to the store where they had us taste the two different grades of syrup they were selling. I already can’t wait for next sugaring season to visit again.

Be prepared to wait. It is SO worth it. Grab a maple soft serve while you’re waiting and walk around and check out the shop or watch them make the syrup. I went last weekend and got syrup so fresh the bottle was STILLHOT. Order the corn fritters and cover them in maple syrup. They also make their own sausage and it’s AMAZING. I just can’t say enough about this place. Mrs. Gould still takes your name and seats you. It’s a great family run small business that puts out an awesome product. Did I also mention the maple soft serve? It’s a quarter a cone.

My family found this place over 15 or so years ago when we made our pilgrimage there with our then two year old son. He was fascinated by the making of the syrup in all the equipment there including seeing the taps in the trees outside and such. It was an educational AND tasty trip! Now, 15 years later, we try to get to Gould’s at least once a year and even bring guests and international friends there. The maple syrup production has been refined but is as fascinating as ever. We plan to wait at least 2 or more hours so we make a day of it with no ceiling on our schedule. If you go on a weekend, you better plan on hanging out for a long time~! We’ve met Helen, the owner and even had our pictures taken with her. I had hoped Taste of Home magazine would feature the business in an issue but it didn’t. This discouragement didn’t deter me from going there and it never would! Where else can you get awesome pancakes with or without blueberries, real maple syrup, their homemade sausage, and the quintessential New England sugar on snow? The coffee is good and the service is great. And our kids, now teenagers, still love to devour the pickles that are served before the meal arrives. It’s the quirky little things that keep us coming back time and time again. We’ve made many memories at Gould’s and I am sure that we’ll make more in the days ahead. This year, we took our newly adopted teenaged daughter with us for breakfast. We all ordered something(including their yummy corn fritters!) and left the restaurant with a well spent $ 60 with tip for an incredible, memorable breakfast. The scenery as you look out the windows is bucolic. I can just imagine animals there sometimes. It’s a great breakfast place that will see my face time and time again!

This place is out there, that’s for sure. And they do have very good pancakes, with what is no doubt real maple syrup. My wife had the blueberry pancakes so I got to try those also. Very good. The bacon was good. Thick, crispy, with a good smoked taste. The only reason I went 4 stars instead of 5, are the prices. Wow. $ 10 for 3 pancakes. I expected them to be giant for that price, but they were just good size cakes. All in all, I would go back, and we did enjoy our breakfast and the rustic dining room.

Best sugar house ever, hands down. I have never ever been to a better spot for waffles, homemade fresh sausage, great eggs, and fun specialties like maple soft serve ice cream! Do yourself a favor a get the blueberry pancakes, waffle, bacon, sausage, maple ice cream, sugar on snow(when in season), and definitely have some of the house made dill pickles. Do it. Don’t question, just do it.

The best. Words do not describe Gould’s accurately. It is perfection. These are the best pancakes that I know of, hands down. Incredible texture, just the right thickness, and a taste that I’ve never been able to find anywhere else. The homeade pickles before the meal seem wrong at first, but actually coat your mouth with a great contrast for the pancakes. Order a glass of milk here, it will blow your mind, tastes like 1000% milkfat. Their grade of maple syrup is epic. My father usually freebases half the container before the pancakes even arrive. I always order sausage. It’s not that processed looking crap that looks like it was plopped out of a play-dough mold, its the real deal(crispy, non uniform, thick little burger patty). Holy crap, when you combine a bite of pancake, piece of sausage all mopped in butter and syrup… you will know which way the wind blows. My family has been coming here every year before I was even born. Mrs. Gould knows us as soon as we walk in the door. I haven’t been able to make the annual trip, so I hope she is still alive and well. The wait is worth it and builds anticipation. Worth every cent, and every second spent in the car to get there. Check to make sure they are open before you go. Sugaring season comes but twice a year. Pancakes don’t get better than this. .

I swore when I first stepped inside Gould’s that I would have breakfast here every Saturday morning. This is an old family business that goes back generations. Mrs Gould still mans the hostess station and will see you to your seat. Awesome blueberry pancakes with local blueberries. Sadly they are only open during the sugaring season, which I think is February/March. They are also open for a few weeks in September for the fall colors. Best to call ahead. The plus side is that you can go downstairs and actually watch them boiling down the maple syrup. I guess it doesn’t get any fresher than that.

It seems unnatural that I should be writing about this Sugar House which has been around since 1960, and is collecting the memories(in a book) inside, of people who’ve been frequenting it for at least 25 years, when I just patronized it two days ago for the first time. But, Unilocal is a conduit of information for the present and future, and Gould’s Sugar House is part of the past,(present, and future). Six generations say so on the walls of this cool restaurant, gift shop, and sugar house where maple syrup is produced. It offers delicious coffee, great pancakes and waffles, and of course, real and delicious maple syrup at okay prices. Friendly service, log-cabin-like appeal, which feels almost like sitting down in the cafeteria at camp, and, it’s just plain charming. I’m rating it 4 stars since the prices are a bit high for the area($ 8 for 2 blueberry pancakes). But, I highly recommend Gould’s for the charm, the history, and the food.
