Price Chopper – Shawnee

I like this Price Chopper. It has unadvertised specials that really come in handy, they always have everything that I am looking for, and they are coupon friendly.
The store itself seems a bit dark when it comes to lighting so I don’t know how I feel about that. Other than that, I like this store a lot.
The layout is decent and they seem well stocked. The employees are really helpful no matter what time of day I come in.
I did encounter problems with getting my key card to scan on the self checkout but there was an employee there quickly to help me out.
If this wasn’t so far away, this would become my new Price Chopper to shop at.

CRAP!!!
They NEVER have the items that are listed on «sale». Wanted to get Roast Chicken per their ad and not only did they have none but NO ONE in deli was even caring about cooking or putting more in stock. (Believe me this is NOT the policy at HYVEE). To me this is BAD MANAGEMENT PERIOD! What can’t you fire people for not keeping things in stock??? Really??? I know people that have been fired for way more insignificant reasons. Talked to «Deb» & she didn’t care and didn’t know. She is probably the same person I complained to when the ONLY time they put their Irish & French cheese on sale is when it’s EXPIRED! This is so blatant and bad!
Obviously no one gives a rodent’s (rat) but about their jobs. PEOPLE — this is why we are shopping at Aldi’s, Natural Grocer, and Trader Joe’s, and yes even HYVEE to get better fing product! I haven’t bought meat there since 2008 (except the roast chickens). Okay so do they own stock in the local chinese place in order to steer customers their way??? I NEVER EVER EVER shop Price Chopper unless DIRE EMERGENCY! They have GREAT intercom music (rock and roll yeah!) but their prices SUCK and like today they have ads and NONE in STOCK of what was advertised. Sorry but not even the christian conservative «no global warming» weatherman known as Mike Thompson even shops there anymore! @@@ ss holes!

Not my favorite grocery store BUT they have made some significant improvements in recent months. Produce is better than it used to be. Health food section has gone from nonexistent to decent. The bakery is still terrible. Salad bar is pretty good. Keep trying, Chopper, you’re getting better!

Richard at this location is not a very pleasant employee to deal with. I entered his lane as he was forced to open up due to the one lane they had available out of 6 being full. He first asked me if I had a price chopper card and I told him no. He snarled a bit and I told him I would enjoy getting one. He threw the board at me to fill out and I completed it. He asked another employee to go get it from the back register. He took a little longer to do this and Richard kept telling across the store at him to just «grab it». During the entire encounter Richard was very standoffish as I asked if he was having a good day and he just said, «it’s okay» as if he hated life. During the entire time he kept yelling at other employees across the store. Customer service is HUGE in deciding where I go to shop. I will not go back to this store again due to this.

I hate having to carry a «chopper shopper» card to get a sale price. I hate it. Regardless of the alleged «chopper shopper» discounts, this store is expensive. I’d expect these prices at Hen House. I also find this store to be poorly organized. It also seems dark and a little dirty. It probably isn’t dirty, but the poor lighting makes it feel dirty. I’d rather drive an extra five miles down Shawnee Mission Parkway to Hy-​Vee or even buy groceries at Target.

I only really come here when I am in need of a morning pick me up on my way to work. I usually get the asiago cheese bagel or the cheddar and jalapeño bagel. I used to grab a custard filled donut but then they became soggy and bland and gross so I stopped that. I think this place is far too expensive to shop for groceries, though I have been desperate for lunch and gotten some healthy frozen items over in the (VERY SMALL) section of health food. They have virtually no organic produce which I find extremely annoying… otherwise I’d love to buy fruit on my way in to work. Some coworkers frequent the salad bar for lunch and seem to enjoy it. Overall — I am not impressed and feel sorry for people who live out here and it is their only nearby option.

Ok Ok, after I wrote the first review they brought back the good Chorizo, so I give them a ½ star more.
Buuuttt, I had remembered something else I dont care for… their ice cream selection, its horrible. I am an ICE CREAM FREAK, I usually eat it every day! and its a real bummer when the store closest to me doesnt have a good variety.
Hate to say it but the Hen House in Merriam, has double the selection and for cheaper.
