Put the puppy down and pick up a Big Bam Burger. I get the puppy is cute but can it make your mouth water and your stomach full? I hope not. Big Bam’s on the other hand can and will. I would willing trade one hundred puppies for a burger from Big Bam’s. An extreme example but I think I’ve made my point on how amazing this place is. What should you eat here? Do you want something kind of spicy? En Fuego is Jalapeño Business! Maybe your tongue can’t handle the heat. Then get it out of the kitchen and put an all American in your face instead. So you had a pet cow and have vowed never to eat a burger out of respect to Betsy? I get it so try a pork tenderloin instead. It’s about the size of a Frisbee in case you’re frolfing later. Big Bam’s gets 5 mouth watering puppies out of 5. This is in my top 5 burgers in the KC area. From the prices, to the quality and quantity of food, and the hospitality of the team this place really deserves some praise. For the Booty!

Went in during off hours so might have been my fault. Ordered a regular old cheeseburger and rings. They forgot my order and after 30 minutes I had lost interest when my food came. Was just marginal for the price. Sorry guys! Wanted to give this place a good one.

Tasty burger! I got the Woodyard burger. Very friendly service. I would go back and try the other items.

I was in the neighborhood and saw this little joint on the side of the road. After my experience at Snack Shack, I had to go back. Quick check of the reviews followed by 4 right turns and I was there. Ordered the basic cheeseburger. It came our very quick for a 12:10PM crowded place. The staff was very friendly. The burger was just OK. It lacked the flavor that I was expecting, like they forgot the salt and pepper before throwing it on the grill. And while it wasn’t overcooked, it wasn’t running juice down my sleeve. Lastly, those three pea sized bits of gristle that I could never possible chew through sealed the deal. It was good, but not great. The bun was perfection. Steamed but not wet. Perfect place to put any good hamburger.

Highly recommend the En Fuego and the Hot Chick! The chicken in the Hot Chick was actual breast(as opposed to a processed chicken patty) and was perfectly cooked. Both had a nice little tasty zing to them.

We have been here a number of times recently. Don’t know why I did not try them sooner! Loved the Ladder 49 burger. Just the way a burger should be, loaded with flavor. The Pork Tenderloin is just as good. Lightly breaded thin cut pork, but a massive serving that’s almost twice the size of the bun. They don’t want you going home hungry! When I mention this place to my friends, everyone agrees they simply do a great job.

Why hasn’t this place been on my frequent stops?! This is a casual but clean place to order a outstanding fresh burger! I ordered the En fuego & it did not disappoint. It has fried jalapeños, cream cheese, & an amazing Cajun sauce. I would probably order the sauce on all my burgers — it was spicy but more flavorful than heat. It took a bit for my meal to come out but it is defiantly made fresh. The buyer was a nice good size patty thickness and roundness. It got a little messy towards the end but I managed to lick my fingers clean. My side was the tater tots but also have fries & rings as options as well(standard fare for a buyer joint). The tots were cooked being crispy on the outside & soft on the inside. The eating area isn’t very big so seating at rush times could be an issue. I need to make the drive and one here more often! ,

We’ve been coming here for years. The service is always quick and friendly. It’s nice, as a vegetarian, to be able to go to a burger joint and find something decent to eat — and the veggie burger(the California dreamin’) is fantastic. Others always seem to enjoy the beef burgers very much. The onion rings are to die for.

Boyfriend and I stopped in for a early dinner. We got an order of fried mushrooms, and shared the bacon bleau and mushroom burger combos with onion rings. The fried mushrooms were awesome. Really juicy and flavorful, I enjoyed them the most. Onion rings were crispy and cooked well. Definitely hit the spot. The burgers themselves were good. Not anything special, but still good. The mushroom burger was better then the blu. It’s not a cook to order burger, all burgers come out the same. It’s just a basic decent burger joint. Think it costs us $ 25 for two combos and an order of fried mushrooms. Might return just for fried mushrooms.

What to say, what to say? The hype just wasn’t worth the stop. We read the mixed reviews and figured, Why not? 4 stars? Yeah??? The service is pretty good. The young man at the front counter was well-groomed and friendly. Service was quick and painless and so was the delivery of food, which is good for my family with two little ones. Then the food arrived. The magma didn’t finish cooling before they pulled the fries from whatever hell they dredged them from and careful of the first bite into the fried mushrooms unless you want a mouth full of lava-induced blisters. Gushers, truly. There wasn’t really any taste though – ? Not sure how this happens, but the breaking didn’t taste like anything, forcing you to try their Cancun sauce – which by the by, is nuclear spicy. Magma-fried fries in Nuclear Sauce? Kaboom. Ending this quickly, because that’s how my fast my appetite went, the meat didn’t taste like anything and the Swiss mushroom burger was disappointing at best. The tots were half the size of a normal tot and tasted like grease. Sweet. All in all, it was a more-expensive Steak & Shake. 2 adult meals, 1 kids meal split, and mushrooms for 25+5 $tip. Alternative for better everything: Freddy’s.

Came here when driving through because it got 4 stars on Unilocal! We were pleasantly surprised. This is a must stop if you like burgers or tenderloins. I got the Bacon & Bleu which was delicious, not too much Bleu cheese, just right. Son got the All American which is a good basic burger for kids. Dear wife got the tenderloin which was hands down the best she’s ever had… Service was fast and friendly, food was terrific and fresh. I’d give it a 5 for its category. This is your classic burger joint atmosphere with exceptional food. A hidden gem 1 mile from IKEA.

The tenderloin sandwich was perfection. The tater tots were fried in fresh grease and they were awesome! We ate returning next week!

My family and I went here today for the first time and we loved it. I had the mushroom supreme it was amazing, my husband and daughter had the en fuego. My son had the kids cheese hamburger. We also had fries and onion rings. At the end my husband order another en fuego to share with our daughter. Thank you for your great customer service and the amazing food. We will be coming here again soon.

Big Bam’s is a great local Shawnee burger joint with great burgers and friendly service. We stopped here on a Sunday afternoon(because Grandstand Burgers was already closed). My wife tried out the mushroom supreme burger and I tried the en fuego burger, which is topped with breaded/fried jalapenos. These burgers are very delicious and full of flavor. The fries were good but the onions rings were really good, well worth the little extra cents to get them. The thing that I could somewhat criticize about these burgers are that they are greasy and the bottom bun ends up soggy from soaking up all that grease. I also noticed on our burgers that the patties were cooked a little medium to medium-rare, which probably kept some of that fat and juice in the patties. So the next time we’re here, we’ll ask for a little more well-done…on my wife’s burger.

I had the En Fuego and Tater tots, both were amazing! The fired jalapeños and cream cheese work so well together! My lovely lady had the Ladder 49 and the sauce on it was very good as well, all the flavors worked together on both burgers. Our boys had the cheeseburger and nuggets, the nuggets are shaped like little dinosaurs which they loved. It’s a great little hidden place to get a tasty burger!

After going to Big Bam’s every weekend for 6 months, I’ve stopped going. They’ve gotten rid of their Fried Pickles — the best in town(and one of the only places to get them). Not sure why. No reason given. Even the wonderful women that(used to) work the front counter were not given a reason. It’s the same breading that they use on their Fried Mushrooms and they already have pickles. Is it that difficult? With the Fried Pickles went Ralph’s Favorite — one of my favorite burgers on the menu. Also unfortunate, but I figured we’d keep going weekly. Then, the service started getting worse. Orders were incorrect. The friendliness was gone. It no longer felt like they cared about burgers or their customers. At one point, you could tell how much love went into each burger. It felt like a friend was serving you dinner. It seemed like they were passionate about their food. Now, it just feels like a standard business. I have stopped craving that delicious burger I would enjoy every weekend. I have stopped urging to drive all the way across town for a great burger. I loved you once, Big Bam’s, but now the spark is gone. You stopped trying. You went from INCREDIBLE to just good. Now I’m stuck looking for the next«best» burger…

I stopped by for lunch on a Friday afternoon. I’m glad I was early because there isn’t much seating and Big Bam’s fills up fast. I ordered the All American(burger with American cheese and all the fixings) and made it a combo by ordering onion rings and a drink. A nice plus there wasn’t an upcharge for ordering the onion rings. The order came out quickly. I really enjoyed the burger. The patty had plenty of flavor, the fixings were fresh and the bun was good sized. The onion rings though were an extreme disappointment. They didn’t taste like anything. Not an onion. Not like batter. They were truly void of taste. I didn’t finish the portion I had. The prices are reasonable. If you have a craving for a good burger, stop by. The burger is a definite 3 stars!

Decided to check these guys out after being grotesquely mislead by the reviews(and food) at Grandstand Burgers. Seriously folks, just because you have eaten at a place for years doesn’t make if 5 star worth! Nor does it make the food good, but I digress… Big Bam’s, on the other hand, provided exactly what was advertised! The food was good, the veggies where fresh, and the taste was just as described. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars, as opposed to 5, is because the condition of restroom was deplorable! Even so, definitely worth stopping in.

How have I missed Big Bam’s. I drove by it today and after taking care of things I needed to, almost didn’t drive back up. Luckily the little food angel was on my shoulder whispering, «go back, go back.»(My food angel. ) I ordered a Ladder 49 minus the onions. The burger is nice and thick burger. It was cooked perfect, juicy and not greasy. The burgers are fresh ground and hand ‘pattied’ every day and you can tell they are fresh. The Cancun dressing has a nice bite of heat, but not over powering. The lettuce and tomatoes fresh and yummy. Easily in my top three burger places. I don’t think I could rank my top three, they all stand as number one! They have been awarded best in Shawnee multiple years and it is a much deserved nod. My only complaint is that the iced tea was very bitter. I don’t know if it was left from the day before or just a poor choice of tea. I generally drink my tea with nothing in it, but had to add sugar because it was so bitter. Generally if I need to do this it takes a partial package, this one took a full package.

This place is legit. A nice family owned business with passion for quality food. The next time you’re thinking of fast food, try this place instead. Reasonably priced, fresh, and tastes homemade. I really like the Ladder 49(the bacon is so crispy), fries, and fried pickles. I suggested the owner to carry a large selection of glass bottled sodas. It will improve his profit and making the soda selection an adventure, similar to BLANC burger.
