I have eaten at Kit Kat’s BBQ a few times and every time it was AMAZING. This seriously is some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had. The ribs cooked just right and practically fell off the bone… tender and super tasty. The specialty sauces are amazing in their own right(they should seriously bottle these and sell them!). The other night my boyfriend and I had beef brisket and the pulled pork. Both fantastic! My beef brisket was juicy and tender and came with onions and banana peppers mixed in(optional…but if you like a little bit of spice I recommend the banana peppers… wowee!). In response to a previous reviewer who didn’t like their pulled pork… ours was amazing! In fact my boyfriend mixed in the coleslaw with it which made an awesome combo. We both agreed the baked beans are the best we’ve ever had. Not to mention the owners are super nice and personable. They clearly have worked hard to get this restaurant up and going and we definitely plan to eat there regularly. And the best part is the walls are painted lime-green! It’s a cute atmosphere… casual and relaxed. In fact, it’s small and personable enough that every time we’ve been there we always end up chatting with other customers… it gives you that nice«small town» feel. Highly recommend it!

Kit Kat’s Bbq has moved to Pawcatuck on Mechanic Street. Today they were out of ribs, so we had the pulled pork and brisket. The brisket was very lean and tasty. True the pork was chopped not pulled, but the great«bark» spoke of proper smoking technique, so I won’t quibble, the flavor was great. The portions were a little on the small side. I spoke to the owners about getting some Mac and cheese in here. They promised to look into it. We’re going back to try the ribs. These are folks that can cook and are trying to make a living at it, not a chain, they deserve a break! if they get their restaurant«chops»(and some mac and cheese), I’ll give them the other star!

Okay, I have to be honest and say I haven’t eaten here yet. Why am I a fan? Basically I’ve heard so many good things about this place that I plan on coming here as soon as they are open again. They will be closed from July 21st thru August 4th and I can hardly wait for them to get back. My mouth is watering already! I didn’t give them 5 stars only because I haven’t tasted the food. They have a facebook page and a website which displays not only their menu but their prices. I love to preplan and this helps immensely. Consider this review not even close to finished…

Fantastic southern barbecue! This guy really knows how to slow cook pork. Unlike the guy who thinks he does and left the previous review. A pulled pork sandwich, two sides, cornbread and a can of soda for 7 bucks can’t be beat in this economy! I will bring my family back many times.

Alright, I’m taking one star away. Here’s why; Went the other night with my family — the teenagers both got pulled-pork sandwiches and my wife and I got the chicken. First, the good — the chicken was damned good! Seriously, like falling off the bone and delicious. So far so good. Now the bad — the pulled-pork. It was fatty, chopped rather than pulled, and not at all tender or what I would expect true pulled-pork to be. I make my own pulled-pork once or twice a season(Boston-butt, slow and low for a good 12 hours or so) and I know what it’s supposed to be. Maybe they had an off night, maybe they were trying to rush the process, but whatever it was, the pulled-pork simply was not very good. Last but not least, the ugly — If Kit Kat’s is going to make it as a business, they’re going to have to get their act together regarding basic management of an eatery. For example, if you take credit cards, don’t make the customer wait ten minutes while you take their card and disappear. Also, if you’re going to be open til 8:00, don’t be out of half your menu by 6:00. I’m trying to be fair and cut a lot of slack to a place that I want to see succeed, but these are problems that could kill a start-up business. Consistency of food quality/taste is huge, and this was a big let down from what we got the first time we tried it. Here’s hoping that they iron out the wrinkles. I’ll be back for sure, but I really expect to see an improvement next time.

Jus plain delicious! We have so far tried the pulled pork and ribs, both juicy and smoky. The mustard and sweet sauces were great to. Hilbert is a warm, laughing bear of a man. He served 4 tours, Iraq and Afghanistan, and now looks to be enjoying the peaceful life. I would travel a long way for food this good — but I’m so glad to have this business close by!
