We stopped by this wonderful BBQ stop on our way back to Philadelphia. The atmosphere almost felt like home. The pull pork sandwich dinner had great flavor. The meat was tender, yet wholesome enough to stay on the bread. The yams were also delicious. I really liked it when restaurants serve you the whole sweet potato, rather than just the mash. The restaurant itself looked like what you imagine a small town BBQ spot would look like. They had some huge checkers pieces for the tables and a checkered mat to put beneath the plastic covering. Me and the wife spent our time playing while our food was getting ready. Almost forgot I had an iPhone. Overall, this is a good place for BBQ. Highly recommend the Pull Pork Sandwich.

My son and I had the pulled pork and pulled chicken sandwiches. They were delicious. They were also ample portions as well. The owner is a very nice guy. A true family business!

The place smelled wonderful when we would drive by so we stopped in a couple of times. The Q is good, but nothing special. The people that work there are very nice.

I was happily surprised by this BBQ place in the middle of nowhere NJ. I had the ribs and chicken combo with collard greens and Mac and cheese as sides. The ribs were moist and tasty. The chicken had a great smokey flavor. Both were smothered in plenty of their BBQ sauce which is on the sweet molasses side not at all hot. I usually prefer a spicier sauce but my husband liked it so much he bought a jar to bring home. The greens were very nice and flavorful. The Mac and cheese was gooey goodness. Hubby had the fried fish and chicken combo. The fried fish had a nice flavor could have been a bit more well done for crunch. The baked beans were OK. We’ll probably try the coleslaw next time. I’ll definitely be back for takeout/catering.

You’ve probably driven by this place and wondered if it was good. It’s time to stop and decide for yourself. You won’t be disappointed. Tender, juicy, smoky, fall off the bone ribs, deliciously sweet yet tangy sauce, and made-with-love sides. There’s nothing better than roadside BBQ in Shamong.

Wow, that was good. Perfect BBQ sauce. Awesome ribs. Smokey chicken that was not a bit dry. Good coleslaw. Plus everyone who works there is awful sweet. Recommended! A treat!

Highly recommend the Pulled pork BBQ sandwich & shredded chicken BBQ sandwich! I would say… Best BBQ food I ever had in my life! Meat was perfect and their side dishes are so yummy. I have to drive 30min to get there, but its worth it.

This place is amazing. I had a pulled chicken sandwhich with a side of coleslaw and Mac n cheese, which I barely finished because of the size. Cost me about $ 10. Their hours aren’t posted on here but they are Thurs-Sat 12−7pm, Sun 12−6pm

AMAZING! I’m from the south(Western NC) and this place beats anything I have ever had in the south. Original recipe without a variation in 37 years. Small yet inviting and the owners and staff are super friendly and hospitable. You must try it out. You will be satisfied! Delicious and filling.

Amazing food, friendly service. Slight wait for the pulled pork but we’ll worth it! The cole slaw was good and the aked beans were amazing! We chose to sit outside where we could smell the smoker going. It was the most delicious smell. My daughter thought the ribs were a little too fatty, other than that it was perfect!

Stopped by one hour prior to closing and just missed out on the collard greens. But the baked beans and the cole slaw were great and tasted fresh. The ribs, cooked St Louis-style were excellent as well as the sauce. The chicken was just as good. The man who was operating the restaurant stated this was a family-run business and that Saturday and Sundays they have more sides available to include mac-n-cheese. We will be back.

This place is worth the trip if you are in the area or on your way home from the shore, don’t pass this place up! From the photos on the wall inside, you can tell that this is a family business that has been around for a while that they are passionate about. These people know their BBQ. My family and I stopped after going to my brother’s college graduation. We all ordered the ribs and chicken platters that come with two sides for around $ 14. While we waited my mom gabbed with the guys behind the counter who spoke of their family’s passion and how his father had built all of the smokers. They smoke with wood, not coals — as it should be. We originally planned on just taking the plates to go, however after getting a good whiff, we decided we couldn’t wait any longer. We sat at the picnic tables outside and gorged ourselves. The sauce was perfect. Sweet with the perfect mix of spice and tang. We will definitely be back. After tasting their food, my mom was ready to book them on the spot to come and smoke on premises at their 60th birthday party. Apparently they also can hire them to build custom smokers for personal and commercial use!

After driving past this place at least a dozen times we finally had the time while they were open to give it a try. This place is rough and ready. Makeshift picnic tables, no clear way for a busy line of customers to flow in and out, a hot food warming case right next to where you order that has a «warning hot» sign on it. An outdoor pit cranking out the smoke. Red flags? Maybe for someplace else but for BBQ, these are things that indicate greatness to me. Sure enough, the food was the only indicator we needed. Best collard greens we ever had, ribs to die for and a sweet take on baked beans I adored but my traditionalist partner thought was a bit much. We both agreed we will be back for the ribs and the greens.

Barbecue joint in middle-of-nowhere New Jersey. Passed this on the way down the shore and stopped on the way back up. «Specializing in Ribs & Chicken.» Brisket is my favorite but I went with their specialty instead(~sad panda face here~). Thankfully their ribs were moist and flavorful. Sauce was sweet with a molasses flavor but not cloying. Honestly a bit bland; a bbq sauce should have more character(vinegar, heat, spice, something!). Baked beans and Mac & Cheese sides were good. The former tasted like the bbq sauce and the latter was cheesy and maccy as you expect. They say they take big orders immediately(up to 50 people or something like that). If it wasn’t 1.5 hours from me I’d go way more often or have them cater something.
