Perkins Restaurant & Bakery

After reading multiple other reviews, I was a bit apprehensive about going to this restaurant. But I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was near perfect. We were seated right away and the hostess took our drink order. Within minutes our waiter took our order and our food was out shortly after.

If I could give this just half a star or literally 0 stars, I would do so.
I usually don’t bother writing reviews about places on Unilocal,just because I don’t ever feel a need to, but this location’s service was so poor, I needed to write about this.
My boyfriend and I went to this location a few weeks ago, and the service was pretty bad. Our server was okay at first. She greeted us and got our orders, however, it took about 5 minutes to get our drinks which was two sprites, which could have only taken 1 – 2 minutes. Once she ordered our food everything was okay. Our food came fairly quickly and it was pretty good. However, after that, we sat for probably around 10 – 15 minutes waiting for her to come back. She never checked on us to see if we needed anything, or to see how the food was tasting, which is something that is just curtesy as a server. After a while she finally came back and asked if she could get anything else for us. My boyfriend wanted a box, so she said she would grab it for him. We waited another 10 minutes, and the box still never came. We just ended up going up to the counter and paying.
We thought maybe she was having an off day, or she was new or something.
Today we decided went back to that Perkins again and the similar situation happened. We got sat by the manager who didn’t greet us at all. She simply grabbed the menus and walked us to the table. And only when we were walking to the table did she ask if it was just us two, not when she was grabbing the menus. She wasn’t friendly, she just seemed like she was there to be there. The server was good at taking our drink and food orders and our food came fairly fast. The food was pretty good, but then the same thing happened. As soon as our food was dropped off it was like she didn’t care and completely forgot about us. She had maybe 3 tables including ours, so not many. My boyfriend wanted a box to bring his food home, but again, she didn’t check on us or ask how our food was tasting and he never got his box. We didn’t even have our tab, but went up to the counter to pay any ways. We explained to the manager that we wanted to pay out because we hadn’t seen our server in a while. She didn’t acknowledge us, or apologize for our bad service. She just payed us and that was it…
The experience was horrible, and we will not be returning to this location.

We do not have these in Virginia so it was nice to visit while we were in Minnesota. The wait staff was attentive, the food was good.

The other poor reviews on this site are no accident, the service at this Perkins is consistently poor. In spite my experiences with slow service here before, I thought I would try it again. Today I was seated and no one bothered to take my order for 15 minutes. Finally the bus boy came over and asked if I wanted something to drink. At this point I simply walked out. If you want to eat at Perkins and you are near Shakopee, it is well worth your time and effort to drive somewhere else. If not you should have a couple hours to kill for your meal.

Worst service ever, we were seated and waited 15 mins before asking for a server to take our order. We ordered our drinks and food at the same time, 45 mins later the waiter approached our table and said the kitchen lost our order and would we be interested in re ordering our meal. We declined and left. A manager never came to our table to apologize or explain what happened to the ticket. I will never return to Perkins in Shakopee ever again.

Terrible Service! My husband and I went to Perkins at 8:50pm yesterday. There were only three other tables occupied at the time. After we decided what we wanted we closed our menus and waited for our order to be taken for over 10 minutes while our waitress was sitting in a booth talking with a «regular customer». After we received our food my husband asked for mustard for his burger. After 7 minutes waiting for it I had to go to the kitchen door to ask for it as there was no staff in the dining area. After giving us our food, our waitress never came back to our table to ask us how our food was or if we needed anything. We even watched another customer go into the kitchen area, grab a napkin, blow his nose, throw away the napkin in the trash and grab another one. Ew! Another customer had to yell into the kitchen for assistance. When we finished our meal, we had to wait another 10 minutes for the waitress to come to our table to give us the bill. The food was just as good as any other Perkins I have been too, but the service was the worst we have ever had at any dining establishment.

I’m a big fan of Perkins just not this one. Our server was polite but just couldn’t get our orders right. I wish I could give her the benefit of the doubt by saying she was busy, but she really wasn’t. Our party was semi large, 3 adults & 3 kids. We ordered 3 different kinds of juice for the kiddos but for whatever reason she thought we ordered 3 milks. Before our order was entered she came back to check with the hubby on his order, did she write down burger or club? It was the club. Even after checking when the food came out he ended up with the burger anyway. She also got my sister in law’s order wrong. It was all just a little frustrating and lunch took much longer than it should have.

Went for breakfast and all went well. It’s a chain. They have their way of doing things, which worked fine. Food was good, but even better was their peanut butter silk pie! My friend and I shared a piece, then I had to buy a whole one to take to my next engagement, where it was loved by all!

Ok, so when me and my wife were up there visiting my daughter we had to find a place to eat after 9:00pm and seeing as everything by fast food in that town was closed, we ended up there. We also went there on another occasion, but I will get to that in a second. When we got there, the place was pretty much empty. We were shown to our table and given our menus and here is where all the upselling started. Our waitress tried to upsell us on every little thing. We placed out order, got our food without buying any of the stuff our waitress was trying to cram on us and left. Our food was good and got there pretty fast. Out only problem that night was that the place looked real dated.
So I know right about now you are wondering why I only gave this place a one star, well, let me tell you about our next visit. When we got there the place was pretty busy but not anything worse than I have seen in a restaurant before. They did seem very understaffed and pretty disorganized though, which I would find out was going to be the downfall to our night. We were seated in the same booth we were a couple of night previous, and let me tell ya that was not a good thing. Right behind us was one of the smelliest, dirtiest family I have ever seen in my life. The what I am guessing was the father, he had to weight over 300 pounds, smelled like he had smoked a carton of smokes and had a spike through his nose. His son, and this still cracks me up, was sitting there biting and sucking out the cream from the little creamer pacs on the table. I would realize why he was doing this in a second. The table next to us, announcing as loud as possible that they had been there for oven an hour and was wondering where their food was. The waitress did not seem to know even after checking in the back. In a couple of minutes, and while all of this is going on we are still waiting for our order to be taken, the father at that table asked if they could at least get their kids food out to the table since they were now waiting on it closing in on 70 minutes. So, in a couple of minutes the manager and the waitress brought out the kids food, now mind ya I am able to see this as their table is right next to me, and while they were serving the food some of it fell off the plate and right onto the serving tray. The manager, without hesitation picked it up with her bare hands and put it back onto the plate and served it. She had nothing on her hands, she had been handling stuff that could have, well lets be honest would have dirtied her hands to the point that she NEVER should have did what she did.
That was the last straw for us. We canceled out order and ran out the door. Seeing what I saw there was stuff I never saw in a Army mess hall. I would not eat there on a bet and neither should you!
