The first word that comes to my mind when I think of Woodhaven is pristine, the next word is challenging. The golf course and club house are in great condition. Immaculate tees, greens, and practice facility(minus a driving range). This course is the most difficult course I have played. Woodhaven has open and accessible fairways, but like all good courses, the fairway narrows around three hundred yards from the tips, bringing bunkers and hazard into play. The greens are large, but well protected and firm. Chips do not hold very well, but approach shots from one hundred yards and out do hold nicely. The course has beautiful vistas and several holes with significant elevation changes. The signature hole is number eighteen. It is a five hundred eighty one yard par five that slopes steadily uphill from tee to green. A forced carry over a hazard lands you in a ribbon of fairway, from there it takes two precise, uphill shots, to a long but narrow green. Make sure you look back from the green towards the tee boxes, it is quite the view. The green fees and carts are going to run you $ 125 per person, but they have some nice deals in the afternoon past 3pm for West Virginia VIP card holders.
