Excellent pizza! Love the Neapolitan style. Went in the other day for lunch with some coworkers and loved it!

December 4, 2015: several months after an unsatisfactory dining experience here when ownership changed, today I gave Ozzie’s(now operating as Zef’s) another chance – and was satisfied. Reason: Ozzie’s original chef returned. Result: Escarole and bean soup was perfection. Pizza was Napoletana style, that is, the crust was thin but sturdy enough to stay flat without drooping when held; and the perimeter crust was crisp with a chewy interior. While Ozzie’s no longer bakes its own breads, the supplier’s is crusty and flavorful and served warm with butters. Server Amanda welcomes customers promptly with winning smiles. She was attentive and familiar with the menu. I plan to return with companions to try house specialties. My choice will probably be the manicotti made with potato crepes. December 6, 2015: I returned to try Zef’s potato-crêpe manicotti. Three ricotta-stuffed crepes arrived covered partially with but not smothered by mozzarella and a deliciously thick and pulpy tomato sauce. The chef, who actually made them fresh from scratch while I enjoyed chicken soup with orzo, presented this dish as it should be with just a little mozzarella on top – not like a pizza with a blanket of cheese. Just one thing, the potato dough crêpe was tender but just a little too thick – a minor impression perhaps because I make my manicotti crepes very thin and delicate. Nevertheless they were scrumptious. I ate them all and moped up sauce with crusty bread.

We have ordered from here multiple times, pizza was always good, apparently it’s been bought by a new owner, the pizza today was terrible, very little cheese, sauce tasted canned, and they put cocktail olives on the pizza? Still had the pimento inside, ruined the taste of the pizza, super salty and weird taste, we threw it out after eating a piece each, I hate to waste food and I love pizza but that was horrible, inedible, sorry, save your money.

Under new ownership. I was shocked to learn this restaurant is under new ownership. The previous owner was a fantastic chef. So I hope the new owners are just as good. Most of the people working here are new. But they are all friendly and helpful. We ordered chicken orzo soup. It took a LONG time to come out. I’ve had this soup many times here. This time it was bland and definitely had less orzo than before. My daughter and I both ordered entrees right from the menu which has not changed with the ownership. She ordered a plain cheesesteak. It looked good coming out. But she said it was a bit dry. The waitress had to come and ask me a question about how my entrée was made. Again, this was right off the menu. So, the new owners don’t know how to make the food on their menu? That’s concerning. I would have assumed they got recipes from the previous owner. Apparently not. But, I must say, the entrée was quite good when it came. My only issue is that my meal was supposed to include broccoli. Instead it came out with red peppers and spinach. I’m not a big fan of red peppers. If I knew that was coming with my entrée, I would have asked them to leave it off. When we were there, I was told the new owners are thinking of changing the menu. I think they could do much better with a new menu that they know. Just make sure you make the best meals that you can regardless. Don’t cut back on quality to save money. You can cut back on portion sizes.

This place was pretty good. The pizza was ok, the other food was good too. The service was a little slow but they were super friendly and packed so that is ok. We will go back. Better than other pizza places in town for sure!

been searching for a good family restuarant for years — new haven ones are over rated and over priced — may be good for the yuppies who are looking to spend money and to be seen in pseudi ‘in places’ Ozzies is a jewel, the best kept secret in the Valley, or even Connecticut — the best pizza I have had in years, thin crust, not greasy, and crispy — you feel like family — entrees are better than many quaruple priced ones that we have had — good food, resonable — realistic prices, clean/neat, family focused — what more can one ask for — ozzies sets a subtle standard that many can only hope to achieve

This was my first time here. The place was plain but comfortable, the staff friendly and useful. Went in with my 9 year old daughter around 2 in the afternoon on a Wednesday. Our intention was to have pizza, so we ordered a large plain pizza with extra sauce. The pizza came in a timely fashion, but it really wasn’t good. The worst offending part was the crust, which was hard and had the texture and flavor of a piece of cardboard. There were no light airy bubbles in the crust, it was just… Cardboard. I wish I was exaggerating but I’m actually not. The sauce had an over abundance of what I was guessing was oregano, which overpowered the tomato flavor too much. Had the crust been more edible I could have forgiven the not-great sauce, but twas not the case. I had high hopes, the restaurant is in a nice spot in town and I was looking forward to a new local place for pizza. Unfortunately, this isn’t it.

Came here with a friend after we were rejected from«Tea with Tracy» for not having a reservation. A cute little area with surprisingly not that many eateries to choose from. The first place was a pizza place with maybe two tables, not very welcoming for sit downs, the 2nd place was dark and smoky and every patron in there was sitting at the bar. You can almost imagine a back room poker game with the mob bosses happening at this place. If you’re at a table you’re an outsider… is the feeling this place gave off. And then we saw Ozzie’s. in the words of Goldilocks. «just right». I’d say its more Diner than restaurant. It was open, bright, clean and had booths. One server who sat at the counter watching TV when she wasn’t serving. It was pretty empty when we arrived and she was attentive, so no complaints. My friend and I ordered burgers and they were damn good! I can’t say I would drive all the way to Shelton to come here BUT if I were in the area, I would definitely return or recommend to those visiting. Quality food, service and atmosphere, no question.

We had always enjoyed Ozzie’s as a pizza place and were thrilled to have seen it change and be remodeled. Tonight a friend of mine and I went to see Gone with the Wind at the Strand and ate dinner here. We arrived at 6. We ordered wine, I ordered a Merlot — that was served in a chilled glass and was ice cold. I decided to just let it go as it tasted like Sangria. i should have known though that when the waitress asked me after I ordered the linquini with white clam sauce that I wanted plain linquini. And I said umm. yes…with the white clam sauce. There were only five other tables in the restaurant. Our food was served to us at 6:50 pm. There was no excuse for it and other people were complaining as well. I don’t buy«its made to order». Its noodles — boil them and put the sauce on them. Say what it is — the waitress forgot to put in the order and didn’t apologize at all. Even as i was trying to flag her down to pay the check she had better things to do — like talk to the other waitress and the chef. Never again. Next time — Zois or whatever that place is down the street. Its too bad because we used to really enjoy this place but now its on the list of «don’t bother» and I actually apologized to my friend for picking such a lousy place.

I ordered a greek salad. Not even close, when the women on the phone asked me what kind of dressing I wanted on the salad i wanted to cry. It was basicly a grilled chicken salad with feta. The salad had carrots, cucumbers, feta, and iceberg lettuce. I just wanted a greek salad and that was not hapening!

I’ve only ever had the pizza here, but its always excellent. They tend to have coupons floating around the valley too which is nice

One of my favorite pizza places in CT. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because I have experienced some off days. Not that it was ever bad, but some days are just better than others. I never understood the big fascination with the places in New Haven, when there is good pizza right in the all-American valley. This place has really good pizza. It’s not as consistent as Roma’s in Ansonia, but I do enjoy me some Ozzie’s pizza I will def be back here next time I am visiting the family in CT. Large cheese is all you need. When pizzas as good as this, don’t waste space on toppings, eat more slices: O)

Ozzie’s is a nice little Italian place in «downtown» Seymour right across the street from the train station. Very small place only a few tables inside so its good for you and the spouse with the kids but don’t try to do a birthday party with 10+ people here you won’t fit. Its usually not very busy as most of their business is probably take out pizza. I’ve had both the pizza and the regular dinners here and they both were very good. Their menu is pretty standard Italian + pizza. They serve bread for you which is always good, I’ve never had a bad meal at Ozzie’s. The place is small enough that you can see them making the pizzas but the rest of the kitchen is behind a wall. definitely worth checking out if you happen through Seymour, CT and are looking for a decent Italian meal
