Balance is formerly known as Peak Fitness, located in the Klarides Village. I was a member at Peak about 3 years ago and ended up switching to a gym that was closer to my office. Now that the new owners have revamped the gym to Balance, I decided I would re-join considering the new owners have lowered the monthly cost. Since I only have a 1-year membership, I pay $ 30 a month, but this could be $ 25 if I opted for the 2-year membership. This is very comparable to other local gyms like The Edge, but with way better customer service and friendlier gym goers! I would say the biggest change at Balance is that they’ve added many new classes(which are included with the membership) including Piyo, which is a cross between Pilates and yoga with fun dance music! The bikes they have in the cycling room here are new too, making for a smooth ride! I love that this gym has 4 Cybex Arc Trainers, so I never have to wait for a spot, whereas at other local gyms they may have had only 2 Arc Trainers and I’d have to opt for the treadmill instead. Some suggestions for taking this gym to the next level are 1) implementing online registration for classes instead of phoning in every morning; 2) stepping up the magazine rack with new mags(I read a magazine yesterday from 2012 and it looked like the newest one); and 3) fixing some of the TVs on the cardio machines as I noticed some of them were out of order. Overall, if you live in the Valley, come join Balance if you’re looking for an affordable, welcoming and comfortable place to workout, where you probably won’t find too many mega gym buffs as you would at other local gyms!
