Bottom Line: A grocery store that is stuck in time but there are some advantages to this market. Until recently I had not been in this Food Lion since the 1990s. Oddly enough, although being built in the 1980s, when I walk into this grocery store it feels like the 1970s.(I’m reminded of the opening scene of Labor Day where Kate Winslet is walking around the super center and you can’t tell if the movie is taking place in modern day or decades ago.) There isn’t anything current or sexy about this grocery store but there are a few things I do appreciate about it as follows: — Easily accessible from southbound Ritchie Highway and Robinson Road. — Plenty of parking and a mostly tame lot, even before a predicted storm — Wide aisles — Local and localish products like Sun of Italy and Don Pepino — The baking section is well stocked and had a wider selection than other stores like Giant. Speaking of Giant, given the choice between Food Lion and Giant, Food Lion gets my vote given the ease of accessibility and scale of the store.
