Two words… LOVEDIT! I consider myself a Mexican food expert. I searched for over an hour online and on Unilocal specifically to find the right Mexican spot while in town. I have high standards and was scared I wouldn’t be able to find what I was looking for in a small town. We could not have been more pleasantly surprised for a couple of foodies who love Mexican and who spent quite a bit of time together in the D.C. restaurant scene. First, the chips, salsa and cheese dip. Chips were average but did come out warm. Salsa had good flavor and lots of bright fresh flavors. It is not a pico de gallo style. It is a smoother and more well blended style. I was very pleased with the cheese dip. It was fresh(didn’t have the film on top that makes it clear it has been sitting) and had the perfect flavor. It was good and creamy and seasoned perfectly, not bland at all. Drinks– we were very pleased with our beverages. I was relieved that Unilocal had it wrong and that they DO serve margaritas and not just beer and wine. The drinks were a good size and the prices were fair. My fiancée was happy that they offered dos equis amber and I was excited that they offered a texas margarita(nicer/higher end liquor and significantly stronger than traditional). I can’t speak for their traditional rita but they did not skimp on the Texas style. Perfect! Entrees– we decided to share a few things so that we could try more. We got the chori pollo(chicken breast and chorizo covered in cheese sauce and served with rice and lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream) and a selection of a la carte tacos from the authentic menu on the back. The chori pollo was to die for. My fiancée couldn’t stop talking about it. The chicken was incredibly tender and was seasoned to perfection. The combination of that with the cheese sauce and the chorizo couldn’t have been better. I was even impressed with their presentation and the quality of the rice. The three tacos we chose were the chorizo, cheek meat and carnitas. I loved that they used corn tortillas that seemed to be hand made for the tacos. They also brought you two bottles of house sauces to use. We didn’t try the green one but that’s because we tried the other one and loved it so much we couldn’t make ourselves switch. The sauce was smoky with a touch of spice. The chorizo taco was good but since we already had chorizo in our other dish it was kind of overkill. The cheek meat was impressively tender and flavorful. The carnitas were also quite good. They were not as heavily seasoned as I am used to but when we added the sauce it made up for it and rounded it out. The restaurant itself was kind of small and we did have to wait for a table. They also offer drive through service which I thought was odd. The staff was very friendly, helpful and patient especially considering that we were newbies to the place and didn’t know the menu and that we are still in the honeymoon stage and are«that» annoying couple who sits on the same side of the booth, does goo goo eyes constantly and are heavy on the PDA. I did wish the menu had more thorough descriptions of the way items were prepared but I went with things I was familiar with so it was fine. We will, without a doubt, recommend this place and be back again.

The cheese dip is was very good. I love the salsa and how fresh it is. The tortillas is always warm. The el burro la roquetta is always prepared well! Kids get the shredded chicken nachos. We enjoy the food and service!

Good food. Had the Pollo Loco which is one of my favorites and it did not disappoint. Reasonable portions, Does a good carryout(drive through) business.

Stopped on the way to Asheville. Ordered from the traditional menu –an assortment of tacos and the ceviche tostada. Fantastic. Really, really fresh. Food served hot. Sauces served cold. Big slices of beautiful avocado on the tostado. Lots of cilantro. Plated with caramelized onions, limes, and pretty radish slices. Clearly, the locals love this little place; it was packed. I can see why.

Service has gone down hill & prices have gone way up. It took 30 minutes for someone to come take our order, we never got refills on drink or chips, I asked for a high chair when we came in & then had to go hunt one down myself, my food was ice cold, my daughters order was wrong. As much as we used to love this restaurant were not coming back anymore. They have changed drastically and not for the better.

Stopped in because of the«authentic» description the restaurant has been given by many of the reviewers. It’s fairly small with no bar but several TVs playing soccer matches. They have an authentic food section on the menu, and being by myself on business, I wanted to try things I haven’t tasted before. I ordered a tripe taco, a cheek meat taco and a ceviche tostada. Considering what I know about tripe, the taco was actually delicious. Very much like fried chicken skin. The cheek meat taco was also very good. It’s similar to roast beef but probably more tender and juicy. I wasn’t impressed with the ceviche tostada but it wasn’t bad. I didn’t try the cocktails as I’m a beer guy, but I can tell you, the Victoria is cold and delicious! Overall I gave this place 4 stars because the food and service were very good. It’s great to see a Mexican restaurant serving traditional authentic food for a change. I don’t really think too much about ambiance, but for those who do, don’t come here for ambiance, just come here and enjoy a great taco!

Great food, great service, great drinks, great prices the total package! Small place but also have drive thru. Our table had the deluxe burritos, chicken fajitas and a quesadilla. Wonderful!

This should be your first and final stop for top notch, ‘authentic’ Mexican grub in Oconee. After spending a little over a decade in Los Angeles, the thing I missed most upon returning was my beloved taco stand. I miss no more! $ 2 a pop for chorizo, pollo, asada, puerko, carnitas, etc. tacos is a wonderful deal. They even have cheek and tongue for those seeking something even more legit. The menu boasts far more than tacos but for your money, they’re your best bet. My only complaint is that their horchata machine has been down forever… and I really like horchata. Beyond that, I have nothing but praise for these guys. Delicious, reasonably priced food. If you’re in a hurry you should skip the drive-through, though. Especially if there’s someone ahead of you.

Great food. Love the salsa. Staff is friendly. Chicken fajitas was well seasoned. Sometimes I put salsa on fajitas but they were good without it. If I’m back n this area I’ll definitely come back!

Best authentic tacos in town! Skip the regular menu and go to the back page. The Carnitas tacos are the best, and the fish tacos are awesome. I haven’t found any that good in Houston, TX, where I live!

Ya… not so much! I have tried this twice and I can say I won’t go back. I have eaten and cooked mexican food for over 35 years(ya… I’m old :) But I am not impressed. Which is a real bummer because it is the closest one to our house on the lake. Everyone has their own taste and I am obviously in the minority but if you are looking for Tex Mex, Colorado Mex, New Mexico Mex(just made the last two up… and I like it). This is more«Mexico City Back Alley Mex»(Made that one up also). No quality ingredients(see spoiled Avocado below). But in defense of my two stars I am assuming others like it more then I do or did.

Just moved to the area & was looking for a fresh & authentic Mexican restaurant. So glad I found it here! Lots of choices with big flavor & not slathered in cheese. Prices are great & portion size is large. I challenge you to try something new like the octopus tostada or grilled cactus or the cubana torta through the drive thru window if you’re shirt in time.

This is good mexican. I will be back to try many items from the extensive menu. It might be wise to ask about the spiciness of the food if you don’t like very hot. However the tacos are pretty mild and so are the enchiladas. The food is delicious and the wait staff is friendly. Our waitress explained lots of things on the menu clearly and willingly. The one thing they could change is to relocate the dirty dishes bus trolley away from the front door. It is generally unappetizing and leaves a bad first impression. Fortunately the food is good and the restaurant is overall fairly clean. We visit Seneca once every couple of weeks and will be back repeatedly.

I like the Carnitas tacos. It’s similar to pulled pork. This place is the closest to the taco trailers I miss in Texas, but this place is a little better. The staff is friendly and they have a frequent diner punch card.

First visit here was great a bit awkward staff not very family but I over look it and thought they had great food. 2nd my order taken wrong again staff gave me attitude now 3rd time my husband and order a asada burrito instead got a asada plate we got thinking they got order confused but they said my husband order it. And would charge me extra if I wanted burrito. Avocado that was added to this asada plate was rotten just disgusting I will never again come here. If they can’t understand a mexicana or my white husband. I don’t know what to say besides I will never go there.
