I found this gem of a place via a Living Social escape deal. My husband and I love the Finger Lakes, but usually wait to travel there in the winter, when the rates are lower(another favorite B&B has a 3 nights for the price of 2 deal Nov.-March). Though it is nice that it is a bit quieter, the downside is that many spots are open limited hours or not at all, and also planning ahead in the winter can be problematic. So, when I saw the opportunity for a *dog friendly* spot in *June*, I jumped on it. So glad that I did. I had a slight snafu with Living Social in trying to redeem my voucher, but Tony was wonderful when I called and it was all straightened out with no issues on our end. The room was quiet and private, the food was delicious, and the hospitality was wonderful. The location was a nice change of pace for us, too, and its proximity to the lake was wonderful for our dog, who definitely was more interested in swimming than wine tasting. :)

To start, we are an engaged couple in our late 20s/early 30s from NYC. We vacation to wine country frequently with our dog, but typically stay in hotels, since it’s usually easier to find dog-friendly hotels. We have only booked stays at B&Bs about a dozen times. We tend to reserve them for special occasions. We would 100% stay at the John Morris Manor again. The property and the house are in beautiful shape. We were looking for quiet seclusion, coming from NYC, and that’s what we found. We also wanted easy access to Finger Lake wineries, and that’s what we got. The best part of the John Morris Manor are the owners. John and Tony are wonderful. They are warm, welcoming and go over the top to make your stay memorable. Tony cooked us a LUXURIOUS breakfast every morning. Course after course, you could tell he LOVES this part of his job! We would sit chatting with Tony for an hour once we were done with breakfast. Tony is a wonderful storyteller and is never intrusive. But if you are looking to be left alone, this might not be the place for you. But then again, if you are looking to be left alone, you shouldn’t be staying at a B&B! haha Since the house is not close to the main road, we felt very safe having our dog off leash in the yard. One of the only issues we had at the B&B was that one of the house dogs didn’t seem to like our dog very much and would bark at her, so we had to keep a closer eye on the dogs than we would have liked. But it didn’t ruin our time there one bit. It was also great that they allowed us to keep the dog in the room while we were out at day. A lot of B&Bs don’t allow that. There are some restaurants nearby as well for dinner. It’s about a 5 minute drive to a great area with restaurants/bars for some nightlife activity. Not a TON of options, but we were only there for a few days, so no chance to get bored. But I can see them getting repetitive if we were there for a whole week. All in all, we had a wonderful few days of fantastic breakfast, wine tastings all day, and then relaxing quiet nights in playing board games. A great retreat from the craziness of the city! We’ll be back! Thanks John and Tony!!!

While some may agree that the website is a little more glamorous than the Inn itself, you can’t argue that the hospitality is wonderful. I stayed in the Jetson Room while traveling with a friend on a «Mancation» of golf and winery tastings. Speaking of tastings, we thought e would hit about a dozen or so wineries, but were toasted after only 7: «No, if anyone orders Merlot, I’m leaving. I am NOT drinking any f**king Merlot!»(Funny if you know the movie) Breakfast is great here too and there are always drink and brownies in the kitchen if you need to get your snack on. The JMM really feels like you are staying at a friend’s house more than a hotel. I would definitely return if I go back to the Finger Lakes.

I love this place in the NY Finger Lakes region. Located near the northern end of Cayuga Lake, the B&B has a spectacular view of the lake, is a short drive from the Cayuga Wine Trail, and just outside the Women’s Rights National Historical Park( ) It’s a nice old Georgian house, with sitting rooms for guests to hang out and drink some of the wine scored on the wine trail earlier in the day, the rooms are comfortable. If you can get the pool room, with its Jacuzzi, it’s worth the higher price. Breakfast is delicious. The owners are friendly but not intrusive, and if it matters to you, the place is definitely Gay friendly. I recommend it highly.
