Loved going there before. Just went today and I believe it’s now closed. Grass and plants unkempt and all signs removed from windows. If you look through the window there is stuff on the floor strewn everywhere. Sad news.

The food was good, the chef was entertaining. The server was very rude from the time we walked in the door to the time we left. Bad service does not make up for good food. it will be a long time until I return

Sushi was decent — hot dishes were ok — not much flavor(basic like a carry out place) Priced were reasonable — staff was not helpful and not so friendly but they were Asian so who knows. It was definitely chicken in the Tso’s so that’s a plus but it was still those pieces of chicken that you don’t really know what part of the chicken it was from. Worth a try if your in a bind and craving Asian.

I’m sorry to give this place a poor review because I do love their food. Tokyo Diner suffers from poor management and poor staffing. I’ve been there 8 times, and each time they’ve messed up my order(ex. I ordered avocado in my roll, instead they put in OCTOPUS) or made me wait a ridiculous amount of time. It was still acceptable because the food was good. But last night I called in an order, they said 20 minutes, I showed up after 20 minutes, and then I had to wait an addition 30 minutes. You’d wonder, was it a busy night? No, they had two tables and my order. So then was it a complicated order? No — edamame, avocado salad, and vegi sushi rolls. Considering the edamame is microwaved, my order should have been completed in 10 minutes. But I got a lot of excuses from the staff and after 40 minutes of waiting while they were ‘working on my order’, I saw the sushi chef start my order. So it took them 40 minutes just to start my order. This was frustrating beyond belief. For a 50 minute wait, I could have had a sit down dinner anywhere else. And after 45 minutes, the front desk /hostess /waitress finally asked if I wanted a soda. A better run place would have had my order on time, or at least sent the manager out to speak to me while I was waiting. In short, even though the food is good, the place is poorly managed and I won’t go back here again and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else.

I rated 4 stars with location factor in mind. If you are Traveling and in mood for a light sushi dinner, this place won’t do you wrong. We ordered the sushi & sashimi for 2, and it hit the spot. Well prepared, ok service and fresh. It would not last in San Fran or NYC, but hey, I remember you couldn’t get sushi 10 years ago in most of US so I’m grateful it was there. I’ll stop again, thanks for a good and healthy meal while on the road.

I feel sorry for you if you think this place is good. You need to get out more to real restaurants. Not sure what was worse, the food or the obnoxious waitress woman complaining about her tip. STAYAWAY

If your going here for sushi I wouldn’t it is not the best to say in a nice way I would travel to Lewisburg where it is much better. But this place does have the best hibachi and there fried rice is amazing!

While driving the area during my business trip, I accidentally found this joint. I never expect a sushi joint in this area but I wanted to give a shot. As a native Japanese, I can criticize the sushi rice needed more taste. The sushi rice was too plane and it should stand up a little more. Either more vinegar and/or sugar should be added. If the sushi rice was better, I would have given an additional star. The freshness of raw fish was okay but it could be better. I did not have any issues though. My sushi a la carte came with the onion soup but I prefer miso soup. I wish they asked me if there was a choice. The service was mediocre because I did not get any refill of green tea. After my first a la carte was done, it took more than 20 minutes for the server to come to my table for additional order. The place was nearly empty and I was one of few customers there on that night. The server was busy to chat with other employees instead of coming to my table to ask more, which was very disappointing. The interior is outdated. I heard from the hotel front desk the place used to be an Italian food joint. The whole interior was kinda creepy and it needs a major overhaul as far as I see.

We had an awful experience here. I’m not one to write bad reviews, but this was bad. We were here for dinner-it took 45 minutes for someone to take our drink order. While the chef was cooking at the grill, he tried to do a trick with an egg and it flew all over my husbands shirt and got in his drink. I understand mistakes happen, but I would think they are more experienced than that. The restaurant overall was not clean. There was a mop bucket right by our table. Not appetizing. Our Chef forgot a person in our parties dinner order and basicAlly said sorry about your luck. She had to order from the kitchen. We will stick with driving a little further to ichiban in Williamsport! Best hibachi around!

I’m a sushi novice. By that I mean that until 6mo ago I was one of those people that scrunches up her nose and gags when someone suggests it. Raw fish? Ew. My boyfriend insisted I couldn’t say I didn’t like it if I’ve never tried it, so I did. And I liked most of it. Tokyo Diner has a large menu, which is perfect for a finicky eater like myself. My favorites so far are the futo maki and the spider rolls. Last week we had pammy rolls which are also delicious. We try a new kind every time we go. Eventually I might even get the hang of the chopsticks.

Too many stickers on the tables, you feel like an eight year if you are not sitting in the sushi bar.

I worked all week in Brooklyn for several years and during that time I made it a sort of pastime to try to stop at every sushi place in Manhattan. As I result I think I am pretty qualified as an amateur sushi critic. The Tokyo Diner really surprised me because they make authentic sushi that is every bit as good as most of what I could get in the city. I recommend this establishment to anyone who enjoys sushi.

Yes, it looks a little scary, so don’t think I’m oblivious to that, but fear not — the food(hibachi or sushi) is decent! Not the best in the world(if you want something delicious, go to Lewisburg), but it’s good, fresh, and there IS great care in the preparation! If you can’t go anywhere else, it’ll do just fine ;)

I was terrified to step inside this place. I’ve stayed at the adjoining Comfort Inn several times and could barely look at it an shudder. It looked scary! Don’t get me wrong, I love dives. But Japanese food dives? Nuh uh. No thanks. But then I broke down and decided to visit. I’m glad I did, because it is a tiny treasure for those staying at the hotel. You get a 10% discount on your meal if you are a hotel guest. And the food is already dirt cheap! Hell you can get sushi in the middle of Nowhere, PA(sorry, Selinsgrove, you are endearing, charming and nice to be in – but literally in the middle of Nowhere, PA). I started with some miso soup and complimentary sweet pickled celery. The miso soup was a little too salty for my taste, but I was surprised by the celery. I don’t care much for celery but it was nice. Next came some edamame. These came out very hot like they were microwaved from a freezer bag. I could be wrong about that but they were very very hot. They tasted fine, except again, a little salty. Then I ate two sushi rolls, the spicy salmon and the vegetable roll(just avocado). It wasn’t the best sushi, but seeing that this is in a fairly rural location, it was tolerable. The seaweed was a little mushy and chewy, the ginger was pink like it was bottled or something and not fresh and off-white like ginger looks like! And the salmon was just laid on top of the roll, instead of rolled inside. I don’t know why that was done, but it was less appealing. However, texture and appearance aside, the taste was the same and so was my overall satisfaction. They have a hibachi grill here too and plenty of fried«Japanese» food for Americans who are unsure of what’s going on. The guys at the bar were kinda sad. Blue collar folk, but not talkative and gruff and laughy. They were sad and quiet and watched sitcoms on the bar television, laughing weakly. Strange.

This place was the only option for sushi/hibachi when I was living in the area as a student. I never had a bad meal here — always enjoyed the food. May not be very authentic, but we took what we could get. They do the little show when cooking hibachi but you can also get booth or table seats if you aren’t into that. Prices are very reasonable. The owners(I presume) can be a little pushy. If you don’t eat something correctly or use your chopsticks the proper way, they have no inhibitions in correcting you.

Eating here was another«What was I thinking?!» experience. Now I’m gradually learning that Japanese restaurants that carry«Hibachi» items are just another big blah when I crave for Japanese food. First of all, what is hibachi? I know what hibachi is, but I’ve never encountered any type of food that’s hibachied in Japan. I ordered Hibachi chicken and they served chopped up chicken which tasted nothing but salt. That made me more wonder what hibachi means. The onion soup that came with it was terrible too. When I crave for Japanese food, I will just go home and make myself a bowl of short grain rice. That will hit the spot a lot better than mysterious hibachi food at Japanese eatery.

This place was a very pleasant surprise. Coming from the Bay Area, where there’s no shortage of Asian fare, we weren’t too sure about Japanese Hibachi in Central PA. However, we heard from family and friends that it was quite good, so we made it a family outing. Everyone enjoyed the chef’s presentation and the food was quite good. The salmon was the true find– my wife said it was among the best she’s had, and she’s a true fish-lover. It was lightly seasoned and grilled a perfect medium. It melted in our mouth. My scallops, like the salmon, were mildly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The shrimp were si-so– I’d steer toward the salmon and scallops. I also tried a bit of the steak and that was also quite nice. Overall, we were pleased, and the local family members we went with promise to return. So go and check out Tokyo Diner.

So off of that yucky highway, in a gross motel. Not the kind of place you expect decent japanese food. And it’s not bad, considering it is virtually the only one of its kind here. The hibachi show is the usual. The sauces weren’t as good as I’d like, but not bad. On one occassion I got a vegtable hibachi, and I literally had masses of food on my plate. The steak is cooked very tender and yummy. Sushi is suprisingly good. They have special rolls that are quite good.
