My buddy put me into this little gem. Tried it for the first time and was hooked! I have always picked up, and haven’t done a dine in, but the restaurant is very clean. The food displayed looks very appetizing and the people that work there are friendly. Love the chicken taki boti platter. Not too sure what taki or boti is but it’s good as F. The portion is huge and got me real full. The gyro platter is also one of my faves, but sometimes I get a little scarce of an order. The veggies are always crisp and fresh. And the meat is cooked to perfection. Awsome use of spices and flavor is impeccable.

I always get the chicken gyro over rice and salad. I feel like the lace their food w/CRACK. haha If anything, I suggest getting the sauce on the side so you can customize how spicy it is. I don’t know what the white sauce is though.

I’ll go ahead and put this place up with the big kahunas of halal food. Or you know street meat type food. This is because this place makes it freshly on the spot when you order. The chicken is great and the lamb is you know that same old lamb. It’s a real restaurant not a cart, for long island it’s actually quite cheap. It’s VERY filling and it has plenty of protein for your bodybuilding needs. They also have lots of stuff thats not the typical street meat platter but ive yet to try those so i cant judge. Do recommend, will stop by again the next time I’m in the stonybrook area.

I will have to try some other things here, I’ve only been here once and I had the lunch buffet. Taste and service it’s an easy 4 stars but the lack of selection on the buffet brings my rating down. What I had was great though and the rice pudding was killer.

Spicetown was quite a disappointment for me, especially since several students on my campus recommended this place. First off, the owners are very rude and inconsiderate. They didn’t even greet us when we walked into the door nor did they provide our group of 6 enough menus(and we were the only customers in the entire store). Since it was my first time, I ordered Chicken and Gyro over rice and salad, a standard platter at any South Asian restaurant. The rice and gyro tasted alright, however, the chicken was absolutely disgusting. The texture of the chicken was that of the beans in a taco bell bean burrito: all mashed up and soggy. It was definitely inadequately cooked and literally melted in my mouth, and not in a good way. I didn’t bother finishing the rest of the chicken since it was that unbearable; fortunately I didn’t get sick. I initially went to Spicetown for their dinner buffet, but after seeing the selection of food and prices, I just decided to order a la carte. The entire buffet had only 8 dishes(6 of which were vegetarian) and costs $ 11.99. Seemed like a ludicrous deal. The prices in Spicetown are average but not worth it when you take into account the low quality and quantity of food. Overall, my experience was a negative one. The owners never even offered us complementary glasses of water, and«mistakenly» overcharged me for my mango drink. While sitting there the entire time I felt as if I was being robbed of my time and money. Some better alternatives in the area would be: Time Out to Eat and Curry Club

Oh… But of course this place deserves 5 stars!!! I LOVE finding«Foodie Gems» in the neighborhood! Bored on a Friday night with a terrible craving for naan or roti with curry anything! Thanks to Unilocal I realized there is not one, but many Indian/Paki cuisine spots round’ my way! Stepped into Spice Town and I was instantly impressed by the immaculate establishment! All I needed to see were sparkles on the floor… I was filled with joy! The woman behind the counter was so helpful. OMG she was sweet and beyond friendly. I chose to do the buffet to go, not realizing that it was $ 17 and just better if I sat there and ate until my pants popped. Most of the buffet were chicken and veggie options. Because I opted only for veggies, homegirl threw in a free dessert because she felt bad for me! LOL Too cute! I ordered 2 pieces of naan and a Mango Lassi and cuddled with my plate at home. To my surprise the food was spicy & slammin!!! Resturaunts usually dont make foods this spicy I guess to cater to the masses, but it was such a treat for me! Everything was full of flavor & love, so spicy yet sweet in my heart! The naan dang near melted in my mouth and the Mango lassi sent me into a food oblivion. I think I passed out after that… Later I ate the rice pudding and the sweet cheese dessert… YUMMMM I can only suggest to my fellow foodies that if you like a clean environment, pleasant customer service, and flavorful hearty food, TRYTHISPLACEOUT! Happy Eating Unilocalers!

I have been wanting to try this in so long and when I did, Mr. CiCi and I was not happy about it. We both thought it was very bland. I forgot exactly what I ordered but if I have the menu in front of me I would know exactly what it is. But I know I ordered the food that was in front like a cafeteria. I guess I didn’t like the fact that they had to reheat the food in the microwave right in front of me. I would think it is already hot. I live basically 5 mins away and it got cold quick when I got home. Not pleased. I noticed there’s a good amount of people who like this place, but it wasn’t for me.

Microwaves to heat up your food is a bad thing. I said to the lady not to worry, I will bring it home and heat it up. Ouch! The food was okay to good. Just for trying to heat up my food in a microwave is not what I would call a restaurant, but rather a 7-Eleven for Indian Cuisine. The lamb and rice dish was good. I do not think heating up Chicken tikka masala in a mircrowave is something people look for in a restaurant. I do not even own a microwave in my house. What happened to fresh? Besides that, it was okay GETRIDOFYOURMIRCROWAVES. ESPECIALLYINTHEFRONTOFTHESTOREFOREVERYONETOSEE. Thank you owners for rebutting my review. Again just get rid of the microwaves and heat it up in a pan. Any hoot back to Hicksville for good Indian food.

Come here. Just go. It is so worth it. I can’t think of a place in Suffolk that has better south Asian/Indian/Pakistani food. I usually get the paneer chana rolls, lamb gyro with rice and salad, or the tandoori wings. Everything is a delight. Nothing is cold which I really appreciate. They actually make food spicy when you ask!!! Hooray! Besides the delicious food, this establishment is super clean. The staff are welcoming, helpful, and fun; thank you for opening! I plan on being a regular here.

I am a foodie and love when people take pride in their cooking. I have been to Spice Town Café and Eatery a dozen times since it opened earlier this year. Food: I go there for their soft buttery naan and Seekh Kababs. I can taste freshness in their Seekh kababs that I haven’t tasted anywhere in a while(I want to order a bucket of these Seekh kababs and just have them without any naan). Their green mint chutney and special sauces are amaizng. Only once or twice chutney wasn’t as good but generally its awesome. Their Naan bread is different. I normally like crunchy bottom with xlarge bubble edges and soft inside. The naan they serve is smaller, soft, cut in quarters, and not crunchy at all. At first I was apprehensive but the thing is addictive. We always order more and almost always run out. Other things I have tried is their chicken, beef or veg filled puff pastries and samosas. I still like them but I think they changed their beef samosa recipe recently. Will go back and try again, maybe they were having an off night. I don’t believe I have ever tasted any of the pre-made dishes in their counter so can’t comment on their biryani, haleem etc. Edit: Tried their Veg Pakora and Chicken Gyro with rice and both were AMAZING!!! Staff: The owners are very nice, caring. The staff is super nice and the best I have seen around Selden. They always have welcoming smiles around. Just hoping they keep making their food fresh and not do what most Kitchen nightmare restaurants do, serve frozen, old food. I know it is tough to make a restaurant like this successful these days so wishing them luck. Place: Clean, good furniture, nice bathroom, easy parking, good location. They seem to keep the place tidy and up to date which is not common among Paki/Indo restaurants. So big thumbs up. For me, unless I find something better, this is by far the best Paki/Indian restaurant around Selden(specially for those Seekh Kababs).

I went to eat dinner with my wife last Monday. The place was empty and that concerned me a bit. We ordered Biryani, Chicken Makhni and Beef Curry. The Biryani was old with no Biryani flavor. I am not sure they even know what real Biryani should taste like. The chicken makhani was bland but edible and there was exactly 2 pieces of beef in the curry. From what I gather this place is banking on not having enough competition so people will tolerate this joke off a Indian food. The food here reminds me of diner food; food is old, tired and everything tastes the same.

What we ordered: Tandoori Chicken Wings, 2 samosa chaats, 1 order of masala fries for 3 people. Pros: Place is clean and nice looking, even if it does smell like Lysol. Food comes out reasonably fast, prices are cheap, and portions are big. Highlight: Tandoori Chicken Wings — 6pcs for $ 6.99. The wings were hot, well-seasoned, and super tasty. Cons: The samosa chat was served with a cold/stale samosa sitting in a black take out container and drowning in a pool of over-sweetened yogurt. You can barely taste anything else. I’m the type to finish what’s in front of me no matter HOW bad it is, but I(regretfully) had to throw this out. Also, masala fries were a bowl of fries with what tasted like Tandoori seasoning dusted on top – lacking in originality and not worth $ 4. Also, they have a LOT of food out that you can get conveyor style, but one gets the feeling it’s been out there for a while.(Side note: One of my biggest pet peeves in Indian restaurant is a mixed vegetable curry that is obviously sauteed frozen vegetables, and that’s what I found.) Verdict: If you have a monster craving for Tandoori chicken like I did, come in. Otherwise, you’re better off going to Hicksville.

This is a pretty solid shawarma joint in my hometown. They incorporate halal prepared food into their dishes, serving the burgeoning Muslim community in Selden with eat-in, take-out, as well as catering services in case you’re looking for something a bit off the beaten path for an event/party/inservice. Now just because they serve halal, don’t start thinking it’s JUST middle-eastern cuisine. The grill puts out traditional champions like hamburgers and grilled chicken as well as South Asian favorites. I love how they offer to switch pita bread for naan(for $ 1) in the sandwiches. I’ve had their vegetable dishes(chickpeas, peppers, rice, etc) and found the spice level to be pretty moderate, but that means it doesn’t compete with the flavor of the food and I’m a fan. The chicken shawarma is always a safe option for me to use when assessing a place, and I found it up to snuff. I like their vegetable samosas although the tamarind sauce(my favorite) they serve has been of differing consistency at times — sometimes more viscous(yes!) and sometimes too thin and liquidy(bad!). Some other things I love about this place are their bottled lassi(available in: sweet, mango, and salty) and the iced-treat Kulfi,(an un-churned ice cream) in: malai(cream), mango, pista(pistachio), and paan(made from Betel leaves!) Inside, it’s C-L-E-A-N. The people working behind the counter are friendly and helpful with describing dishes and making suggestions, so this is a great place for someone who is looking to dip their toes into Middle Eastern or South Asian food. Skip the garlic naan, and just go regular.

Good food, good service, good prices. I had chick pea samosa chat which was really spicy, just the way I like it. My wife had gyro on naan and she said it was delicious.

The food: Really tasty. Naan is incredible. If you are a wimp like me when it comes to spicy food, then it is good to know that everything is a little on the spicier side(aka chicken tikka and some other things in the display) The prices: The most affordable in the area for sure($) The service: More of a self-service kind of place, but everyone is really nice and there are 5 tables.

What an exciting addition to the area! Finally a good [clean] Indian-Pakistani restaurant! :D Impressing desi parents is not an easy task! We ordered a whole bunch of dishes to eat with them, including Behari kebab(delicious!), Mokhosa(MUSTTRY!), Beef samosa’s, Achari chicken, naan, etc. They loved everything!(WIN!). I almost ate a whole naan plain, because it was so tasty and cooked to perfection! Owners/staff seem to be really nice people, service is excellent, and the place looks great inside! Def. looking forward to giving them a lot of business ;)
