I had a friend who kept trying to get me to go to Hal’s. I finally broke down and went a couple weeks ago. The burger wasn’t that great. The fries were alright. The shake was tasty though. I thought maybe it was just that day, so I went back last week and got a chicken sandwich this time and some onion rings. Again, just alright. Nothing to write home about. I would say this is a 2.5 star review because the food wasn’t awful it was just middle of the road and just ok. The place is usually pretty busy though, so it’s quite popular with locals.

I actually like this place. I live within walking distance and love to stop by for an ice cream and fries with my son. I’ve never had a problem with the food or staff or atmosphere per se. What I do have a problem with is the fact that it is NOT handicap accessible. In fact, the restaurant is noncompliant with ADA. I have addressed this issue with staff on several occasions and have asked for my complaint to be passed on to the owners. I have been hearing for four years that«the owner really has been meaning to do that» or «apparently it’s really hard to find someone to build a ramp.» They do have outdoor seating that we can use but it does not provide shelter from the rain and wind. Even on a sunny day in the winter, these outdoor tables are in the shade. Not a great option. The step that needs to be ramped is less than 6 inches high. I suppose if someone was in a regular manual wheelchair, they could be lifted(not that they should have to be). In an electric wheelchair, it is impossible to overcome this small barrier. My mother uses a wheelchair and this has been a reason to not eat there on many occasions. At times, I’ve gone in to order and my mom huddles outside in the wind waiting for me and then we scurry off to find somewhere suitable to eat. On other occasions(while attending loggerodeo wood carving events across the street), I’ve had strangers using wheelchairs ask me to go in to order something for them to go. If this bothers you, like it bothers me, please pass on your thoughts to management. thank you.

Really, Unilocalers? One Hal of a disappointment. Either this town is in desperate need of decent burgers, so there is no basis of comparison, or the employees wrote most of the reviews for this drive-in. More things in this restaurant come out of a bag than a street vagrant’s possessions. Store-bought, wafer-thin«hamburger» patties(I didn’t taste any meat under the mayo mound); paper-thin, death-by-mandolin tomato slices embedded in and smothered by said mayo; a paper bag of previously frozen, fresh from the store Ore-Ida crinkle fries; and a tiny tub of jartar sauce(tartar from a jar). My EYES didn’t even want to eat the food. There were two things(hence the two stars) about Hal’s that I did like: Hal’s gals and the thick fountain shakes. The counter girls were cute, bubbly, witty, and nice as could be. The shakes were very good; ice-creamy and chocolatey, albeit pretty small(kid’s cup size). Overall, I’ve been more impressed with meals from drive-thrus for half the price. However, the girls and the atmosphere are both adorable. Perhaps the hot dogs, corn dogs and ice cream are better than the burgers. I don’t know and I doubt I’ll ever find out. This may be the first time I’ve been this dismayed by Unilocal reviews… ever.

Love this place! Love taking my kids here! It is a bit spendy but it is SO worth it! The 12th man burger is great especially with fries and tartar sauce! Peppermint milkshake & blackberry are perfect! The girls are all very polite and very sweet. Love coming here with my family!

I have been eating at Hal’s since I moved to Sedro Woolley as a child, and the food is always delicious. They have a rotating assortment of ice cream flavors(I think bubble gum and rocky road are the best). The curly fries are what draw me back again and again, and they even do a half order if you don’t think you can manage a full. Many memories of sneaking off to split curly fries during high school aerobics class, then running full out to make it back to the gym before the end of class. So glad this establishment continues to flourish in Sedro. I’ve recently branched out to the deep fried mushrooms as well, and have not been disappointed.

I love this place. Here is the truth people… it’s junk food. It’s greasy salty coat your insides goodness. It’s a fast food place of course it’s gonna have food that isn’t good for you! It’s comforting. I love the burgers with the«goo» on them. They are even good reheated. I love the crinkle cut fries and the delicious tartar sauce. My boyfriend loves the onion rings. They’re all hand dipped and huge. It is a bit much for me but he can eat them all up no problem. I love the milkshakes. They are so good. I do recommend just getting your food to go. It’s always crowded and people are coming in and out so much and it’s so tiny. It’s exactly what you expect when walking in… greasy yummy totally bad for you comfort food

First time here. Passed it as we were driving through town, on our way home from camping. It is a really cute little place. I like the oldies diner theme, but it’s not over the top cheesy. It was early on a Tuesday, around 11a, and there was only one other person dining in, but lots of drive-thru business while we were there. I ordered the Deluxe burger. I was told it comes with«goop» ??? I’m like what is goop? Should I know what goop is? Well, it’s just mayo and relish. Goop is good. Anyway, the burger was just alright. Nothing to write home about. The patty was thin and pre-made looking. Fries were kind of like Ore Ida crinkle cut looking. Everything was okay and hit the spot. My husband got some kind of stuffed burger. It was two patties with blue cheese and some other cheese in the middle. It was also just okay. Anyway, great place. I think if I lived nearby I would come every now and again, but we live in Kirkland so probably won’t be back anytime too soon. Again, cutest little drive-in diner :) Really nice staff.

Not like it use to be, use to be a go to 50’s diner now its more like concession food. Curly fries green and uncooked, onion cold/hard and taste like old grease. Just doesnt feel like the love is there anymore. Probably won’t return.

Great little local drive in. The curly fries are awesome and I recommend a potato-bacon burger and a fresh shake to that.

DH and I *LOVE* Hal’s and eat there weekly. It’s small town old-fashioned, good burgers, shakes and more. We have a half order of curly fries, and they are so good we try to finish them all — but can’t since the order is huge. We love the 50s décor, with their glass bottles of Coke and classic(old) posters.

Classic, old-fashioned fast food is what I call the burgers, fries, and milkshakes ordered here. The small size of Hal’s helps the smell of their food soak into every cubic centimeter. Décor-wise, it confused me because I have no memories of the era Hal’s is set in. I can still appreciate the antique appearance, though. Dipping your(savory) order in goop sauce really takes it to the next level of deliciousness, let me tell ya.

Nice 50’s look, family dining, jukebox. Good but salty Burgers. Onion rings homemade. Too much batter not enough onion. Their«Famous Tarter Sauce», sure could use more work. Made w/salad dressing, Yuk!

I wish Tacoma had a drive in spot as good as this place. Yeah, we have Frisko Freeze… but it doesn’t compare to most burger shacks. The indoor seating would be nice, but it was a gorgeous day outside and we decided to sit out and watch the odd string of traffic go by. Between the jalapeño burger, deep fried mushrooms, crispy fries, and onion rings we all waddled back to the car happy campers. I’ll definitely stop off here again if I’m ever in the area.

This used to be the place to go for burgers in Sedro but it has become so overpriced and poor quality that it’s not worth going. We do go occasionally because my son likes the jukebox.

Definitely local flavor. Definitely fast food. A variety of inexpensive burgers, fries, shakes and yes malts are just 10 or 15 minutes away. The drive-thru is slow as molasses on a winter’s day but cars still queue up in the street even when there’s no line inside. Insanity observed. Definitely better than any other QSR in Woolley so invest your $ here in the local community with these local owners instead of McDonalds or Burger King.

It is a local favorite for high school kids and local white trash. I grew up in this town and this drive in was nothing special. Actually since there are not really any other places in Sedro people have to go here! Great for people watching. makes you want to move away form the valley!
