I’ve had this bookmarked for years, so glad we finally got here. Full of interesting Mel Fisher and Atocha history, where else can you lift up a real gold bar and buy a genuine 1715 coin? Definitely worth checking out, especially for those who find this treasure hunting stuff interesting. The gift shop was fun, too.

Very old museum that probably has not been updated since the 1990’s. They have a nice video(also from the 90’s), that talks about Mel Fisher and the story behind finding the Atocha. There is a lot to read, and a lot of information regarding the history of the Treasure Coast. Being able to pick up a gold bar was fun… and heavy.

I loved it! Great guide who was very knowledgable and told us a lot of extra things about Mel Fisher and the artifacts in the museum. For a smaller museum there is a lot to look at and read. They have a tank that shows how they get all the encrusted shells off of the coins, etc. At the end you can actually pick up a gold bar which was really neat! It was heavy. Sadly, they don’t let you keep it. Arrrgh!

This is an awesome little place to spend an hour or so, esp. on a rainy or cold day. Very interesting displays and a good look into the history of The Treasure Coast. Cute little gift shop, also, with nice books, jewelry and so forth. Definitely recommended. I liked it myself and take all of my vistors there.

We decided to drive 40 miles with 4 kids under ten to see this. It was completely worth it. Yes, it is a bit dated, but the displays are really cool, and you do get to hold a bar of gold from the wreck. We watched through a window as they prepared to clean gold coins brought up a couple weeks ago. I enjoyed browsing the gift shop, looking at the artifacts for sale. Definitely worth the time and price.
