The atmosphere of this place is clean and squared. The architecture is creative with the tiered booths they have available. I had a nice Japan feel when I entered the environment. You would not know from the outside as I almost past the front entrance. The service was friendly and helpful. The only thing bad about sitting in the tiered area is that they decided not to have it walk through and created a dead end. When sitting at a dead end, it is difficult to find people working there very handy(no foot traffic). Good for privacy but bad if you need something. The food itself was creative. I enjoyed that they were creatively made in which they didn’t lose their original meaning or flavors. The calamari was soft but flavorful and still crisp from the breading, sushi were made with a fresh taste, miso had good content and flavor, the sashimi were thick but soft(and fresh), and the drinks were easily palatable(very easy to drink actually). The tea mixed concoctions were innovative and smart. i really liked them and were amazing with many variety to choose from. The only issue was that I read the online menu before I arrived and referenced it to the wait staff and she made me feel real dumb as if it didn’t exist. So Advice and warning is that don’t memorize the on line menu, go off the menu they give to order so you don’t look like a jackass in front of your date. The speed in which the food came out was a little bit of a disappointment but I just ran into bad luck I think because the waitress explained that everyone came at the same time. I made a reservation(recommended to get a nice booth or location) and explained that I had a show at the Moore. You figure being close to that venue and one of the only places close to the theater, they would know the schedule or have clients that have the same agenda? Overall, I’m a fan and want to go visit on my leisure without the pressure of the theater so i can properly enjoy the foods and atmosphere of this fun and fine establishment.

This is the first Izakaya I’ve been to, and I am a big fan. We came here a couple times while in Seattle. This was very close to our hotel and it was nice having a cool place like this close by. Out of all the other places we ate at, this was very affordable. The happy hour menu is great and the prices are even better. We got to try a lot of the happy hour menu as well as many of their cocktail offerings. All of the waiters and waitresses were super professional and friendly. My favorite dish was the takoyaki. The sushi was all very fresh and beautifully prepared. For the price and the atmosphere, if you’re visiting Belltown or live nearby, you could do a lot worse. Does it feel like an authentic Japanese restaurant? No. Is it gourmet food? No. This place is meant for you to drink after work and have some snacks while you drink and share it with your friends or date. It’s Americanized enough for your less adventurous friends ordering crunch rolls, but there’s some traditional stuff too if you like to go that route. I tried Saki and Sochu for the first time ever here and both are very good. The Sochu drinks are very interesting, I consider myself a pretty good drinker, and these Sochu drinks have just the right amount of alcohol to keep you feeling nice and warm, but not too much that you’ll stumble out of the place. The waitresses are so friendly that they recognized us and seemed really happy to see us when we came back the second time.

I was in during a very busy time in the bar and things initially seemed a bit chaotic. The bartender was alone and running around serving as waiter, bar back AND bartender to a full house of anxious people. Not only was he efficient, he didn’t seem to be flustered when it was apparent he needed help given the demand of being pulled so many different directions. He was still friendly to the customers and intuitive to the needs of the other staff members who consistently interrupted him for things. The food was great, however in my opinion it’s the staff that keeps this place together. As a business owner, I hope they take care of them!

My favorite Japanese restaurant in Seattle. I love the Chu-Hi and, of course, the Sushi. But what really gets me is the incredible amount of options on the happy hour menu. This is truly a lively and well-rounded menu. Come to Wann and have a great meal.

Very poor service. Long wait for everything. Food was ok, except for yakisoba that was way too sweet. The tempura brie was the best thing.

Came in for happy hour the other day and had a great time. Agedashi Tofu — very nicely balanced, the batter was a little bit thicker than what I would have preferred but the dashi was perfect Takoyaki — absolutely delicious, crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside. Fantastic service. Definitely a great spot for happy hour.

This place is decent but a little too traditional America sushi restaurant compared to better Japanese style bars in the area such as Kushibar. Try their happy hour specials. Place kinda needs a reboot for modern times.

Just so great. I came here for happy hour before seeing a show at the Moore down the street. I thought I’d be saving a few bucks by coming during happy hour, but alas– everything was so delicious I ended up with probably twice as much as I’d intended to buy. Seriously though, everything was delicious. Brie cheese tempura? Amazing. Takoyaki? Amazing.(Come out pretty hot though– definitely took a bite too quickly and regretted it). Salmon Poke was amazing. Kalbi was amazing. Very recommended.

I have no idea why this place is so empty every weekend I go in(Friday night, Saturday night). I feel like this place deserves a better review and more customers, because their food and price is totally awesome! They do happy hour pretty much all day. Price is really cheap compared to other sushi restaurant(range from 5 bucks to 10ish?) and portion is fair(although you do have to order a few dishes because they are tiny). I think the reason why this place isn’t so crowded is because it is kind of off the main street(like where Umi, Wasabi bistro, Japonesa is) which is the reason why I kind of prefer this place over other sushi restaurants. Because it has less people it is a lot quieter and you can actually have a normal conversation and have an intimate time with your friends or lover or whoever.(Whereas other places I sometimes have to yell in the restaurant to talk and can hardly hear things) Most of the time I get calamari, a variety of rolls, shrimp tempura Udon and I am full. Last time i visited, my friend recommended Octopus wasabi thingy(I forgot the name sowwie) and it was pretty good as a side dish with my rolls(if you like the texture of raw octopus, you should give it a try!) The only downside about this place is that their drink isn’t… so good in my opinion.(either too sweet or tastes water down). I think their best drink so far I tried was hot sake, everything else were meh.(Visited 6 – 7? times) I would definitely come back here to get some more happy hours~

Very polished façade and a lovely interior; sadly the food is not as good as the look of the place. The experience overall was good, considering the friends who were accompanying me that night were really nice, but the HH menu was lacking variety and taste, or at least the ones I tried were not that appealing. The service is great though, our server was very attentive and polite, we stayed long after we finished our food and were never rushed out. Started out with beer and moved to some HH sushi rolls; did not like the sushi rolls as much and part of it was our mistake ordering all crunchy rolls, so we ended up with too much fried food on our plates which is never pleasing to my palate. Overall, the place has a good polished look and can be a good quite spot for HH.

I’m all about the happy hour here. The late night HH menu, which is also offered on weekends, is massive. If you can’t find more than a few items to order, then it’s on you(and why would you be in a Japanese restaurant in the first place)? Anyway, look for the sashimi set that includes octopus, it’s fantastic! Rolls are really competitively priced and feature eight pieces, opposed to the standard six you often see at happy hours around Seattle(yes, I’m looking at you Umi Sakehouse). If you’ve been out enjoying adult libations and aren’t realize that hot dogs or fast food isn’t a viable means to cure your hunger, you need to stop by Wann.

Came here for Happy Hour after work to meet up some friends and check this place out. Nice looking spot, modern Japanese look to it, clean, a good amount of space and comfy. Ordered some beers to start us off right and gave us a chance to check out the menu. We mainly only stuck to sushi rolls so we got the Spider Roll, Crunchy Unagi Roll, and Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll. All were pretty good but our blunder was, we shouldn’t have ordered so many«crunchy» rolls. They were all fried so the fried-ness stuff got a bit much in my mouth. Everything we ordered tasted fine, fresh, good sized rolls and would eat again. Happy Hour menu is quite large, so there is something for everyone. Menu looks tasty and would come back to try some more items. Service was fine, a little slow at first because the bartender was handling the entire bar area from making drinks, taking orders, delivering drinks etc. He was nice and was working hard to keep up. The setting is quite nice and a good spot for a Happy Hour. For 3 of us, it was under $ 40 so we felt that it was a good deal and left quite satisified.

Whether you’re planning a big birthday dinner or a cozy catch-up sesh, Wann does a great job in accommodating large and small parties. Out of the many happy hour sushi joints in the area(think Wasabi Bistro, Umi Sake House and Japonessa), I’ve definitely gone to Wann the most. :) They have a good variety of items on their happy hour menu, including sushi rolls, sashimi and hot dishes. Most of the dishes are great for sharing, minus items like the Kushi Katsu(comes with one skewer). My friends and I try to do a mix of both hot and cold orders and we typically end up with the takoyaki, sweet potato korokke, a few crunch and regular rolls(I personally like unagi the best!) and the brie cheese tempura(a must-try if you like brie). Maybe I’m just not a fan of shochu, but their happy hour cocktails are just so-so. I tend to just gravitate towards beer or wine instead. :) Lastly, I’ve been able to make reservations pretty easily at Wann. We’ve used the side room before for a group of about twenty people and Wann’s staff was nice enough to give us individual checks! If you’re looking for a solid sushi spot, Wann is also known for its all-day happy hour on Mondays and Tuesdays. Be sure to swing by! :)

For drinks and appetizers, it’s not a bad deal – especially during happy hour. The place has a great ambiance, with lovely cherry wood enhanced by the warm light tones. Our server was both quick-witted and empathic, making a couple of suggestions to help us pick just the right amount of food and the drinks that we would be most likely to enjoy. We ended up having the sweet potato korokke(croquettes) and the gyoza. True to the Izakaya concept, the portions were small, and each gyoza was actually bite size. I appreciate this very much! Not so crazy about the sweet potato croquettes, but it was an interesting variation on a classic – and for the innovation, kudos! We also ordered sushi, but by the time it came, we were already stuffed and half drunk(this was the second place in an impromptu pub crawl), that we had to box it :( Food presentation was great, flavor was decent, ambiance was classy, service was friendly, low noise level to allow for effortless conversation(on a weeknight evening). This place has successfully earned a place in my rotation :)

Fresh décor and food is found here at one of Seattle’s top happy hours for its extensive Japanese fusion menu. Sashimi, Katsu avocado wraps, fried chicken, and tofu plates are just a few of my favorite items here. Unless you’re walking, street parking can be super scarce, but if you are a «chosen one» and somehow manage to find a spot along 2nd Avenue during rush hour, it’s only $ 2.50 an hour. The only thing that keeps me from dining here more often is the parking situation. The food is seriously great here, always served promptly and freshly prepared, and the happy hour deals with majority of them around or under $ 9 is amaze.

Good: It’s a beautiful restaurant. They have actual Japanese employees, who spoke some English. The food is a hit and miss. The prices aren’t bad, but the food need more work. Sushi is their expertise and they nail it, but everything else is a hit and miss. Bad: The Octopus ball was crunchy on the outside and soft inside, but the mayonnaise flavor destroyed it natural fried flavor, and the teriyaki/soy sauce was thick and too much, and overly salty. The Unagi Crunch roll lost it identity because all I tasted was soggy rice. Bottom line: If you stick to the traditional sashimi, sushi, and certain well known rolls like the spider, then you are set. The tea pot comes from a bag and it’s string, very tacky. My recommendation to the owner is make sure guess has enough portion, food represent quality and uniqueness, and expand on your Ramen menu. It’s a hit.

It doesn’t take a lot to provide a good dining experience. It does however take a whole helluva lot for me to write a one star review. Let’s start by helping my friend and I get into the effin front door. My co-worker and I walked here from work to have lunch. The sign said that they opened at 11:30 and we got there right on the dot at 11:30. There was a guy standing at the host station who could see us through the glass struggling to open the door. We made hand gestures back and forth, like are you even open gestures. He made unclear gestures back at us. We could see at least one customer in there so we assumed that they had to have let someone in. My friend finally pulled much harder on the door and it finally opened. Like really, guy? You couldn’t be bothered to help us when we were obviously having trouble opening the door? You were standing there the entire time!!! So we finally get in and get sat at a nice table. We wait for a while. Let me type that again… We wait for a while just to watch people who were sat AFTER us get their order taken BEFORE us. My friend and I order the Toyko ramen noodle bowl, an order of tuna sashimi, and two pots of our respective flavors of tea. After all that, the ramen was pretty not so good. It was definitely bland, not very flavorful. On top of all that our lunch was expensive. $ 3 for tea. I never really order tea. If it comes with the meal, I’m cool. It’s tea. Our check was $ 40!!! My friend and I were really nice to our server though and we let him do his not-so-exciting-either thing, but once we walked out that fucking, sticky door we determined that we would never return. My friend has introduced me to many ramen, hot pot, phở, noodle places around the city and this was a place that she had never tried. Every place she had taken me to was a 4 – 5 star experience but this place… It’s ok, Anna, I forgive you. You’re still awesome in my book.

Friday happy hour — group of 9 people. We had quick and friendly service and the grapefruit cocktail, whatever it truly was, tasted incredible and candy-like(and not like grapefruit). The strawberry cocktail had pieces of strawberry in it, and was great too. The happy hour menu here is pretty extensive, unlike many other establishments. I had the chicken yakisoba, and although it did not actually resemble yakisoba, it was still very tasty. Would definitely come back for happy hour!

**Review is for happy hour only** ANDWHATANAMAZINGHAPPYHOURITIS. The selection in the happy hour is HUGE — you can get anything from a sashimi plate(~8−10 pieces) to teriyaki salmon belly to kalbi to agedashi tofu. HH is available Mon-Tues all day, Wed-Sun 4−7pm &10pm-close. My group of 5 ate and drank to our hearts content for around 2.5+ hours on a Saturday night, reordering multiple rounds of more wine and food. In the end we each paid around $ 25 per person – I was expecting it to be $ 40+ at the rate we were ordering. Portions were very reasonable, service was accommodating and I enjoyed the trendy atmosphere of the bar area. They DO require each person to order a drink, but it does not have to be alcoholic. But c’mon, lets not kid ourselves, you’re at happy hour… it’s not an unreasonable requirement. I’ll definitely make time for another happy hour visit the next time I’m back in Seattle!

This place has a nice happy hour menu. You can order a lot of small dishes for very reasonable prices. I liked the udon. It was great for a cold night, and the broth and noodles were perfect. The bowl is small though as it was a happy hour bowl. The eggplant dish was not bad either. The agedashi broth went surprisingly well with the eggplant. The staff was a little odd though. We arrived at 9:50 and they were very adamant that happy hour does not start for another 10 minutes, so we basically couldn’t order for 10 minutes which is odd. I would think they would have just gone ahead and taken the order. The staff was also a bit absentminded with the orders. They didn’t give me two of the items I ordered. One okay fine, but two?
