Another bit of history found today while exploring my state. This Historical marker is located on the«Desoto Trail of Central Florida». This particular marker pays homage to the memory of the Florida Militia men, the Tenessee Volunteers and the Native American’s who fought a skirmish here. Apparently the 2 aformentioned groups slogged cannons and wagons across the Florida swamp terrain and did battle with the Indians who killed their Major. The land here is WET, there is a primitive camping site, and the Wahoo Community center. The name alone is fun to say. Cattle abound on all sides and of course a GLORIOUS black walnut tree. My squirrells outside will be getting some wonderful new nuts for Xmas.
