I had the dry pot and it was okay… selection of meats and veggies were extensive and the ingredients were pretty fresh but it was really watery and tasteless. I like how they have so much stuff, but it’s not that fair charging by weight if you’re not a big meat eater. I always end up filling my plate with veggies and starches and a potato shouldn’t really cost more than beef. The seasoning that they use to cook isn’t very strong, nor is it spicy. Milk tea was delicious and unlimited though, and I AM happy that it’s here. The more representation we get from these types of restaurants, the better the quality will be eventually as people start pouring in.

The servers are nice and the food is ok. I would give this a 3.5 stars for the food. The broth was extremely spicy even though I asked for 2 stars. It really didn’t have much flavor. They do have peanut sauce and other types of sauces that you can use to dip your meats and vegetables for more flavor.

I love this little modest spot, tucked away in the Pacific Rim building. I pile my bowl full of pig ears, tendon, tripe, lamb, pork spare ribs, and seafood which you will not necessarily find in other hot pot restaurants. Since you get to choose your own items, you get exactly what you want. The high quality broth is excellent and will form into a thick gelatin if you take home leftovers, always a good sign. The staff is superb and there is never a wait. You can have a pleasant conversation without having to yell over a crowd. Uway is also known for their delicious hand pulled noodles, as reviewed in the article below. There is plenty of free parking in their garage, making Uway an easy choice to visit when I go to Chinatown.

I really like the concept of this restaurant(both soup and dry hot pot) but the food was super salty and the restaurant itself seemed dirty. Good service though. Our waiter was awesome. Worth a try but I wouldn’t go back.

Very unique concept! If you are new to hot pot, this place is probably not for you because it’s not typical at all. Here, you first go to the freezer area and put all of your ingredients and other crap that you want into this large bowl. The ingredients include pretty much everything — from different greens to balls of meat to regular sliced meat to noodles. The place charges you $ 8.99/pound for the hot pot. Then you have a few choices of broth. I did the ma la tang, which is the typical spicy one, but there are others too if you don’t want it too spicy. The hot pot then comes out in this medieval looking apparatus, and it’s all cooked so that you don’t have to wait for the soup to boil(because it won’t!). Finally, there is a sauce station for you to mix and match your dipping desires. I’m a big fan of this one considering that Little Sheep in Chinatown charges you for sauce and I’m getting kind of sick of Boiling Point’s three sauces. There’s a soy sauce-based one, a spicy sauce, a peanut-based sauce, green onions, sesame oil, and minced garlic om nom nom. The flavor was decent and if you didn’t like it, well you chose the ingredients lol! The wallpaper in the restaurant is a bunch of green bamboo, so when you’re eating you might feel like you’re in a forest or something. My only gripe about how this system works is that there’s no way to weigh the items first before it goes into the pot, so in the end you are guess-timating unless you know how a pound feels like.

I love the concept! I came here for my first time and my friend showed me what to do. We choose or broths first for the two person deal, and we both chose what we wanted in our bowl to put in the hot pot, it is then weighed. I got my beverage of iced milk tea, which is refillable; not bad! Only bad thing was the sauce selection could be better. Otherwise, I love this place.

I just went there with a friend on a weekend. It was pleasantly uncrowded, the male server was excellent in advice and helpfulness, and I enjoyed the food although I am no expert in Malaysian food. Everyone there when we went in was Asian(must mean it’s authentic, right?) You can choose your own soup base and pick out from the refrigerated section everything you want to go into your soup, or you can order from their very large menu of typical Malaysian foods. If you do the hot pot and it doesn’t taste good you can only blame yourself for picking the wrong mixture of ingredients. My friend chose some sort of spicy pickled vegetable base with beef and it was really very good. It was a cute, reasonably-priced, well-decorated restaurant with nice utensils and presentation. And most important… there is FREEPARKINGINTHEGARAGE in the building it’s in!

Good service, good food. Went to get the $ 8.99/lb sides for the big hot pot. Half was hot and spicy, the other Korean kimchi soup. It was really spicy! Love their selections as well for the hot pot stuff. Fish balls, meatballs, tofu, napa cabbage, crown daisies, vermicelli, udon, imitation crab, mussels, etc. Would love to come back! Mm!

The review is long overdue. This is the only place I know of that does dry hot pot in the U.S. — you choose from their selection of raw materials, put it in a steel bowl, then give it to the waitress along with how spicy you want your dish. The result is an amazingly spicy numbness-inducing savory dish. This dish is seriously addicting, I order it every time I come here. I’m not sure what all the bad reviews are about — it is true that this is very much a Chinese place. No catering to American tastes here. So maybe that’s it? But if you’re craving Chinese dishes that are really hard to find in the U.S., this is your place.

This place is by far, the worst possible hotspot place in town. Came here to try out their malatang(mini hotpot), as suggested by their name, I thought this would be a good place, but dear god I was mistaken… 1 star for free parking 0 star for slow service 0 star for food that tastes like paper,(spicy, literally means just spicy, no taste otherwise) 0 star for terrible plum juice, which is at least refillable 0 star for higher than most prices…

First hotpot place besides Boiling Point that I went to and it was better! But it kind of sucks that the prices were based per pound. It was my first time there so I didn’t know how much a pound was. I ended up getting more than expected and the bill was bigger than I thought. Was a bit disappointed in that. Also, the curry soup that I chose was too spicy and wasn’t as flavorful as I thought. I accidentally inhaled a pepper and it made me cough and tear up so bad that I was almost bawling. Lol. Other than that, there’s a lot of yummy food choices! :3 now I know what to get and not to get next time. FYI, it was a bit hard to communicate with the server so maybe bring a friend that speaks chinese along, if needed.

Service was friendly and did her best to describe what to do. I pretty much let her figure out that I should have the dry stir fry hotspot since that was her favorite. Place is clean enough and the refrigeration area for the prep food is labeled for most. If you don’t know. Then ask. Pay by the pound 8.99/lb. I chose the quail eggs/tripe/cartiledge/tofu/sole /tendon/pig ears/lotus root/hand shaved noodles/glass noodles/oyster mushrooms all cooked in a 3 star spicy sauce. Comes with rice. I thought this was quite tasty! Can’t wait to just try hand pulled noodles.

5 fat stars! Wanna know why? Because this place is super approachable for newbie Hot Pot peeps yet still fantastic for the old pros. Not having had much experience as a teen or young adult with hot pot, it was only when I moved to Seattle that I found a group of friends who were familiar with and excited about visiting hot pot locations in the area. Each time I went to try a new palce I was pleased but not terribly impressed. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not picky and I’m also an adventurous eater. It just wasn’t doing anything for me. Maybe it was because I wasn’t ever totally sure what I was eating? I’m a-ok with new or even ‘weird’ foods — but just tell me what I’m putting in my mouth. And now we get to Uway. What struck me here was that not only can your build your own hot pot, all of the ingredients options are clearly labeled. No more mystery meat! Whether you’re after tendon, ribs, and tripe, or you just want crab, mushrooms and veggies, you can have as little or as much as you’d like. Nothing goes into your dish that you don’t want! And if you love something, add more of it. Each experience is totally customizable and the beauty there is that you can come back and always change up your order. Never had a fish ball? Add one or two to your soup. Loved it? Next time come back and add more! Super simple and super smart. Service was great as well. Being new to this business and how they operate, I found that the servers were quick to explain how it works. Place an order at your table, hop up, go get the toppings and then pick a broth. Drop off your bowl at the counter and they’ll get it ready for you. There are also non hot pot options like burgers in steamed buns, green onion pancake, hand shaved noodle dishes(on Sundays only, I believe), etc. Being excited to try this new spot, my boyfriend and I actually went crazy and ordered 4 dishes. The beef and onion bun was awesome and much bigger than we’d expected. The hand shaved noodle dish was fantastic and made for a great evening snack because the portion was big enough to split and take home. And of course, the hot pot was simply awesome. The fire went out at the right time so the soup didn’t burn, the broth was the perfect amount of spicy, and the ingredients –because I picked them– were perfect! There’s also ample free parking in the garage here. Huge bonus. It’s like it just gets better! Final but less important note: The décor is cute in an odd way. It’s like someone looked at a weird wallpaper catalog and selected one of everything. Sounds funny to mention but it was the first thing I noticed! It made me smile because though it’s unique, it makes the place cute and funky. Very unforgettable. Fake bamboo patterns, brick, aspen trees, etc. So yes. Go here for the food, the wacky wallpaper, and the great service!

I love Noodles! Szechuan cuisine is spicy and spice-filled. — My favorite was the Hand Shaven Noodles with Lamb. Very tender lamb with fantastic flavor! I like spicy food, but was afraid of the spice due to the reviews. We requested 1 star, but will get 2 or 3 stars next. The good thing about downgrading your spice stars is that you can always add more spice, you can’t take it away. — Pickled Veg Pork Noodle Soup. It was ok. I want to try the regular Pork Noodle Soup next time with more spice! — it was pretty busy when I was there on a Sunday. Great that there’s free parking. Don’t wear your expensive clothes because you’ll smell like Chinese food afterwards!

Hand pulled noodles, hand shaved noodles, hot pot, spicy food, and a free parking garage? Hells yeah! Uway is a clean and tidy restaurant with friendly and attentive service, huge portions, and pretty good food. The best dish that I highly recommend is the szechuan dry wontons(in the appetizer section). The wontons are soft and savory and sit in a bowl of sweet and spicy sauce. Not really sure why they are called dry when there is lots of saucy goodness. This is a must try, especially for $ 3.95. We also enjoyed the cold appetizers – you choose whatever you want from the cold case and there are about 8 different dishes such as pig’s ear, spicy beef, and century egg. One appetizer to avoid is the xian pork burger. The bread part is a pita(weird), and although the filling tastes good, I just can’t get over why they use a pita rather than a Chinese style steamed bun. For our main dishes, my husband got the szechuan beef noodle soup and I got the hot & spicy noodles with pork, and we both chose hand shaved noodles. I didn’t really try his because he asked for 5 stars and I can’t handle that. My noodles were delicious – tons of pork as well as fresh herbs and celery. The spice level was perfect. The hand shaved noodles were very good but slightly too soft for my liking. The downside for me to eating szechuan food is how oily everything is. It seems you can’t get around it because maybe that’s what makes the dishes spicy – the chili oil(??). All in all, I would definitely return but as an indulgence rather than a place I would frequent.

Delicious hand-pulled noodles here! I have gone here a couple times and have only ordered the Szechuan style beef noodle soup(4 stars). The only reason that I knocked off a star was because the most recent visit, the soup was extremely spicy that I could not even enjoy it. Seeing how the same soup and spice were not consistent both times, really disappointed me. I’ll probably have to try 3 stars and add more spice if necessary so the soup isn’t ruined for me. A tip would be to go in small groups! During one visit, we had about 15 people, creating a bit of havoc for the kitchen. By the time the last person got their bowl of hand-pulled noodle soup, half the group was finished and ready to go home.

:) the pork hand pulled noodles were such a good choice! the broth is amazingly flavorful and satisfying. The noodles are chewy and soft, and absorbed the flavors well. I had a malatang(personal hot pot) with curry soup base. I didn’t know what to do at first, but the server directed me to fill a bowl with whatever ingredients you want from the open fridge that has all sorts of meat, vegetables, and noodles, and bring it to her. I was worried my dish would be too oily but they server was accommodating and they made my dish with less chili oil. Again, the flavors are amazing! The fish cakes came out tender and the meats were delicious — absolutely NOT chewy— and the broth, nice and hot. I was so happy to accidentally find this place. We will be back! *The only open restaurant in the building for lunch *Free parking both 3rd&4th floor

Sometimes, you go to a place because you like to say the name. And watching somebody making noodles in-person is always cool. In the Pacific Rim building, you’ll find Uway. It’s a clean, brightly-lit restaurant with extremely friendly and attentive service. The weather had cooled, and hot pot just sounded good. We were sat with menus which explained how hot pots work there. You go pick up your ingredients from the cooler along the east wall: meats, fish balls, tofu, vegetables, levar etc. and head back to your table. They will take it to the kitchen and have it put together for you and bring out in a steaming hot bowl. BUT, wouldn’t you know it, I saw that they offered their handmade noodles(belt or thin — I chose the wider belt noodle) served in a spicy broth with duck and pickled vegetables. That was too perfect to pass up. I tried their«homemade» plum juice drink. It tasted like a cross between plum mixed with prune juice, with a little smoky flavor. Strange, but I kept refilling it from the same cooler you get your hot pot fixings from. We also tried the milk tea, which tasted like an amalgamation of Thai iced tea and horchata. My date also ordered a Chinese crêpe, filled with Chinese doughnut, onions, and a hot-dog type of meat. He really liked it. And even though he ordered the Sichuan beef noodle bowl, I have to say that you can’t tell it apart from mine! There was only a tiny amount of duck in my soup, but the noodles were plentiful so that made up for it. The broth was top-note salty and 5-stars spice isn’t what I consider 5-stars; so if you like spice like I do, you’ll have to supplement with more spice. $ 7.95 was a fair price, I felt. It’s great that they have free parking in the building. Watching dude making noodles in the window was neat, but I’m not sure if I would be inclined to do hotpot here. I thought it was a little odd that they had the refillable drinks in the cooler right above hotpot ingredients: What if somebody overflows their cup? Then you have plum juice in your enoki mushrooms? Check it out, if you’re wanting to be more interactive with your food! 3.5 star rating from me!
