1st time visit — Great!, 2nd time — Great! 3rd time, their daughter waited on my husband & I and told us that the building they are in was sold and will turn into condos sometime in 2016. The service was great. The waitperson was the owner’s daughter. 4th visit(11÷13÷15) total disaster. Don’t get me wrong, the food was good, but the service from the owners(husband & wife) was horrible! It wasn’t even busy, only 3 couples. The order was incorrectly taken, as if she had her mind on something else. That was the last straw. Will not be eating there any more plus we didn’t even leave a tip. They did not deserve it. The good service we had in the past, we gave them good tips. I ordered 9 piece tempura shrimp to split between my husband & I and she brought 4 broiled shrimp. When I told her that was wrong, it took 20 minutes later and she brought 4 tempura shrimp. We used to be sympathetic about them losing their business soon, now not sorry.

By far the worst teriyaki I had first I called to pick up. The menu prices online is not the same in the restaurant. I order spicy teriyaki and egg rolls it came up to 14.77.Now online the teriyaki was 6.992 egg rolls was 2.99.The rude lady was like no you get 3 egg rolls for 4.99 and teriyaki was 8.99 for lunch uhm no and to get to work and the chicken was not spicy it was rubbery and just plain nasty the egg rolls was soggy just pure garbage. I would never go there again.

I gave this place the benefit of the doubt. I tried it three times before finally giving up on it. The chicken teriyaki is subpar. Dry and potentially microwaved. It is served with two pieces of lettuce and 20 grains of rice, ie, you definitely don’t get what you paid for. The combo platters are even more of a joke. One skewers of chicken and one of beef and there’s goes $ 10. This last time, against my better judgement, I decided to try the yakisoba. It was the worst I’ve ever had. I couldn’t even finish it all. There was no chicken in it whatsoever and no vegetables. It was all noodles and way too much oil. The waiter/owner lady looked annoyed that a customer was even in the restaurant. I walked in and waited 5 minutes before she even greeted me. I should have left but I learned my lesson. You’re better off going to Panda Express or Sarku Japan inside the mall.

Recently coming back from a trip to Japan, it is difficult to not compare any Japanese food in America to the«real deal,» but with that being said, I really enjoyed Toshi’s Teriyaki. The food itself I would probably rate a 3.5, because although it was very yummy, the glaze had cooked a tad bit too long. In no way did it inhibit the taste of the chicken as it was moist and delicious, but there was a slight(super slight) burnt smell to the plate. The rice was good, and well, who doesn’t like sauteed cabbage? I know I do! I’m going with a 4 rating because the people who work there are beyond nice! Aside from a tasty dinner provided to us, they were very courteous, welcoming, and that just set a good vibe for the entire meal. I have been to amazing restaurants where the customer service is atrocious, and despite the delicious food, I would never go back. However, Toshi’s is not that kind of place! Good food, amazing people, you have a fan for life!

This place is a joke! This miso is bland not hot. The chicken is chewy like as in old microwaved? The rice isn’t even good! Don’t risk it! The cabbage tasted bad too…

This is the worst teriyaki place I’ve ever eaten at. The food was very dry and was scattered and didn’t look presentable to eat at all.

One shows their true colors at their worst, today clearly was that for Toshi’s. My grandma and I come here all the time because it’s absolutely delicious, and is run by a cute family who remembers us and our orders when we come in. Today service was slow because they were down their mom in the kitchen and apologized profusely to us. We were not charged for one of our orders, our usual egg rolls(which are the BESTINTOWN) or the California Rolls they brought as an apology. I just wanted to write this review because you more than took care of us, and we appreciate you as always. Seattleites: go here. The food is terrific, the family that owns and operates it is terrific, and it’s just nice to be at a place where you know you are cared about. Thanks Toshi’s!

This is an above-average teriyaki place. They offer Japanese offerings such as donburi, tonkatsu, and sushi that you won’t find at typical strip-mall teriyaki joints. You can take-out(they put your salad in a plastic container so it doesn’t wither, which is a nice touch) but it’s a good option to dine-in as the place is clean and the service is good.

I had the spicy chicken teriyaki and was disappointed. There is an up charge for spicy but all it was was a stripe of sriracha. The chicken was dry and not of very high quality. The salad was small and the dressing was not something I would order. If you need a teriyaki fix near northgate I would try almost any other place first.

Definitely not the best teriyaki place in town. The owner was nice to us but the food was dry. I asked for salad instead of the miso soup. They came back with a saucer plate of few pieces of wet lettuce and few carrot strips. The dressing was barely noticeable, i thought they just served me a plate of lettuce. They put tiny but of dressing and you could barely taste it. :-( Our teriyaki came. It’s not the usual serving you get. They served ours in 2 barbecue sticks. so not much meat compared to the other teriyaki places. The meat was so dry. No juicyness at all, thank goodness there was a cup of teriyaki sauce on the table that you can pour when you want more sauce in it… and of course i drowned my chicken with the sauce, coz it’s the only way i can actually appreciate that it’s some kind of teriyaki. They better work on their recipes sooner than later. It’s really not that hard to alter it for the better. If they continue to serve tasteless chicken, i am sure they will get to the point where they have to close down their restaurant. :-(sad as it sounds but good food brings back customers. For this one, i don’t see myself coming back and we live next door. :-(

This family owned teriyaki spot not only made us yummy dinner, they let us hang out right before closing. I would definitely return! :)

The worst teriyaki I’ve ever had they give you about a tablespoon of teriyaki sauce with it… not to mention it’s SO dry. They owner was really rude to me when I asked for a cup of water she told me they didn’t have cups… while a women next to me was drinking from one. I waited over 15 minutes when there was only 2 people there, & when my food came and I went to sit down she came to my table and took all the silver wear, went back to her desk and glared at me… haha what?! I didn’t eat any of the chicken, it was so bad.

So nasty!!! We ordered yellow chicken curry and it was a sick stinky jello. Like goopy flubber with a couple of super dark nasty chicken pieces and a few very overcooked carrots and other crap I can’t recognize. We also ordered chicken teriyaki that looked like it had been sitting for the week and microwaved into overlooked dry bland chicken. A child can do better cooking. Also the miso soup tastes like canned chicken noodle soup from the dollar store. I wish I checked my food before I got it to go. Do not go here unless you want to puke.

I’ve never thought one could have a bad teriyaki experience but I did yesterday! The spicy teriyaki was subpar & the salad was pretty sad. This chain usually has pretty decent plates but maybe they were having a bad day. Def won’t be back :(

I never thought I would see the day where I would wait 25 minutes in an empty restaurant for teriyaki chicken. One would assume the food would be worth the long wait – it isn’t. The chicken was dry, unseasoned and lacked any flavor when coupled with the terrible teriyaki sauce. The tempura I ordered was flimsy and lacked the dense crunch that most tempura I’ve eaten has. The only redeeming quality this establishment has is the extremely nice woman working the counter, but even she can’t convince me to come back for another meal.

What a difference an «O» makes… Toshi’s sounded close to Toshio’s but that’s where any similarity ends. This place is pretty lame. I wish I could say good things about it but I can’t find anything that would be fitting. The portions were okay, I guess that’s a positive thing. The rice, it’s been sitting around in that football shaped mold for a while before it got to me — it had that tell-tale tough exterior that gives it away. I had the chicken and broccoli stir fry. Not many chickens were killed in the making of my lunch. There was likely 2 oz of chicken in that dish. The teriyaki sauce, thin, bland and salty. I think it was soy sauce with a little sugar in it. I give it two stars only because the food was palatable and the server was very nice. There are far better places out there — like if you add a simple«O» to Toshi’s and make it ToshiO’s. That’s your mission — bail on this joint and go find the big O.

I read the reviews of this place but I still wanted to go in and try it with an open mind. Service was okay and same with the atmosphere, but the food is just so fucking lousy. The spicy chicken was: *Not spicy *Dry as shit *Expensive Super small portions, doesn’t seem like any effort is put in to making it. I would rather eat my 8 dollars. Never. Again.

«Are you kidding me? Is this seriously all I’m getting?» That was the thought on my mind as I came into this place and saw what kind of food was placed in front of me. I only came in here because I happened to be starving at the moment and the army recruiters next door mentioned there being a teriyaki place nearby. It’s a disappointment, and I’m honestly not surprised that the place was dead quiet during my stay. I ordered a large skewered beef and pork for $ 10.30. Well, that was more or less what I got. It came first with miso soup, just your generic salty murky soup with no tofu or seaweed floating around. The actual meal was quite bland. There was a chunk of white rice on one side of the plate, and all the meat on the other. Aside from a scant amount of lettuce or whatever kind of vegetable it was on the bottom as garnish, that was it. Nothing added to make it look or taste better. I also have to wonder what the point of skewering the meat was when it doesn’t add anything, and people are probably going to be taking it off to mix with the white rice anyway. Service was also kind of not that great. The lady serving me didn’t seem to be terribly interested in doing her job. She hardly spoke a word to me, and spent her time reading a newspaper instead of tending to the restaurant(not that there was anything to do with me as the only customer around). I only saw one person working there, and judging by the quality of the food I got, it seems that the people running the restaurant overall don’t care much about appearance or making a good impression. The food wasn’t bad and the place doesn’t appear to be a complete mess. It’s just that the people working here don’t seem to be taking their job very seriously, and it’s hard to appreciate their food if that’s the case.

Wow, this place used to be so good, but it has gone downhill! The spicy chicken teriyaki was just regular chicken teriyaki with a small amount of sriracha sauce squirted on top. The portion was small as well, and the side salad was lame. The chicken and broccoli stir fry was a little better. It had lots of broccoli and zucchini, although the broccoli was overcooked. The amount of chicken in the stir fry was stingy. The service was nice but for the price to quality ratio is just not there, and I will not be back.
