A cross between a mart and a restaurant, The Market Hall is a fun addition to the businesses popping up around 8th Avenue. I came here with my team for a birthday lunch after making reservations the day-of. As a heads up, the dining area is small — most of it is counter seating with a few tables, so be sure to make reservations if you have a larger party. It’s best to visit before the lunch rush as the place was completely packed by noon. Since we had arrived before the crowds, our orders were taken quickly and the food came out shortly after. Overall, service was a bit slow, but we didn’t mind too much as they seemed a bit understaffed that afternoon — props to the waitress that was covering the whole floor by herself! I opted for the Market Hall Burger this time around, which turned out to be a fairly standard, but solid burger. The burger comes on top of a Macrina Bakery potato bun and was so soft and easy to bite into. The diner also has the option of fun add-ons like avocado, fried egg, etc. With two patties, this burger was pretty sizeable and filling. The rest of my group all enjoyed their meals as well — we had a variety of orders from the fish tacos and quinoa bowl to the grilled cheese sandwich and friend chicken po boy. in terms of price, I would say that items are on the higher spectrum for lunch but not unexpected for a Downtown Seattle eatery. I was eyeing the pizza on the menu, so I’ll definitely be trying that the next time I visit The Market Hall! :)

The food at Market Hall is exceptionally good. The ambience is simply wonderful. Great bar and excellent service. The menu changes up regularly and is always fresh and interesting. The one big con that drives me crazy is that their closing hours are wildly inconsistent. On any given day they could stop serving food at 6pm, 8pm, 9pm. It seems like they close up shop just whenever they feel like it and for reasons I can’t fathom. As a result, they’ve lost my business(and I will drop a decent amount of money on food and booze and I tip well!) several different nights. If this place had regular hours then MH would be hands down my favorite place to eat in Seattle right now.

I always check the menu’s on the Unilocal pictures, but when I actually came into the restaurant today, the menu’s had changed quite a bit. They no longer have three different types of burgers(classic, bacon blue cheese and mushroom) anymore for their lunch. They only have ONE type of burger now, which is pretty much a classic burger with a Macrina potato bun. I don’t know what sparked the change with their lunch menu, but I’m always a firm believer of having a variety of options. Hopefully they bring back the different selection of burgers in the future! Nonetheless, the burger was scrumptious and every bite was delightful. Let’s talk about the fries! The fries are thinly cut, crispy and perfect. They reminded me of McDonald’s fries, but a classier version. My friend got pizza that was white sauce based with chicken and cheese. It was a bit too cheesy for my taste, but it was still delicious! I would love to come again during their happy hour and try their truffle fries and sandwiches. Remember to check in on Unilocal if it’s you’re first time, so you can get 10% off of your order!

After 3 days of eating convention center food I was determined to find a nearby«under the radar» place to have a bite to eat without being swarmed by cosplay and über geeks. Using the lovely Unilocal search app(shameless plug) this gem popped up as a suggestion. I was stoked to learn that when I got here that I happened to catch happy hour!!! Happy hour was perfect! A burger, beer and fries for under $ 20 was a steal of a deal. Not having to wait in line behind the entire DC& Marvel character catalog: priceless. The food here is very well prepared. The burger is a hand made patty cooked to order and topped with the all the standard fare dressings. Nothing fancy but nevertheless a well prepared all American burger. the star of this dining experience was the truffle fries! There is no skimping on the truffle oil this dish exudes it; as will you once you are done eating it. This will be my «safe place of refuge» from the convention center madness whenever I am converging with the masses. Eat with confidence –Pat

Accidentally discovered this place while trying to find Urbane. Glad us tired Emerald City Comic Con attendees decided to step inside. It was nice and quiet, and we had a great time sitting at the bar near the pizza oven. I highly recommend this place especially during ECCC, when other places a jam-packed. We shared avocado toast and a funghi pizza. Perfect amount of good food to get us revved up for round two of the day — we would not have made it to the World Championships of Cosplay contest otherwise! Good Happy Hour prices and great service.

We were looking for a quick good lunch in a nice place(nice based on Unilocal reviews) in Seattle. 1 burger and 2 pastas took almost 2 hours as we had to send one back… Burger also incomplete but decided to keep it. Probably we were not lucky…

Loved this place! Will be back. Pros: Happy Hour weekends. Adorable, cozy, romantic venue… very similar to Melrose Market. Close to the Paramount Theatre. Great bar. Fabulous food(avocado toast! kale salad!) Cons: Parking and that its not closer to my house!

Cool atmosphere. Love the lighting and overall vibe. We were in for dinner tonight and the music was just a tad too loud. Hard to really talk to each other. Food is good. My husband had the butternut bacon bourbon soup. Um, yum! Would absolutely order that again. I had the BLTA and it’s a hearty portion with lots of fries. Convenient location and we’ll definitely be back.

Came at 330 pm on a Monday after work. Cliff notes story is the service was horrendous at the eatery portion, food took a long time to get to our table(with barely any customers in the entire establishment), food was overly seasoned, AND to top it off, my wife and I both got food poisoning. Firstly, the service. Three others in our party were already there ahead of us and so we joined their table. After the initial greeting by the server at the table, more than 15 minutes passed and no one thought to come by and check if we were ready to order. One of my relatives had to flag down the server to get our orders taken. Mind you this was at the beginning of happy hour and no one besides our table was sitting in the dining area; not to mention that the establishment is not large at all. We wait even longer for our food with no offer to give us water or any beverage. Once the food finally arrives, the server proceeds to place our check on the table, explaining that they are going thru a shift change so she wanted to leave our check with us. As we eat, again we receive no offers to give us water nor utensils or napkins(I had to grab beverage napkins from the bar). Shortly after beginning our meal the server somewhat rudely interrupts to ask if the bill was ready. No checking in on how the food tasted or if we needed anything. I pay, leaving a paltry tip, and we were never checked on again. As for the food, my daughter got the tomato bisque and cheese curds while my wife and I shared the burger. At first we felt the burger was great, but with every bite came the realization that we were eating a sodium bomb. Tried the bisque and the flavor and texture reminded me of Spaghetti O’s(which may not be a bad thing depending on your expectations). As I write this, my wife and I are suffering from chills, nausea, and LMB. Fortunately, it doesn’t look like the bisque was tainted and so my daughter is her normal cheerful self. Too bad I can’t say the same for my wife and I. DON’T COMEHEREFORDINEIN!

Late night back from a biz trip and this place is still open(barely). A beer and two appetizers plus a very friendly waitress did not erase the tiredness from the trip, but I can feel the energy seeping back to those bones. It is a cozy place to hang-out with reasonable foods. I welcome this to the downtown scene. Never hurt to have more options.

Came in at 11:50, didn’t get to order until 12:00 despite it being relatively empty, and by 12:45, had to ask that I get my food in a to-go box along with my check as I had a meeting at 1:00. 45 minutes for a BLTA, and not once did the server check in on us in the meantime. I was hoping at least the food would’ve been worth the wait. Sourdough bread was tough, fries were stale and cold. :( BUT! The real kicker was when my friend texted me after I left saying«they just came [after the 45+min wait] and said they ran out of ingredients for my salad and asked if I want something else» … Lol I get that things happen and you can get slammed but the least you can do is offer an explanation, apology, something, anything, especially when you’re charging these kind of prices.

Apparently, word has been floating around that this is supposed to be like a Dean & Deluca(upscale grocery store on the East Coast)? It didn’t really remind me of that, especially since the concept is a little different. The Market Hall is a hybrid delicatessen and small restaurant. I’ve mostly visited for lunch to go when I have to jet back to work. They have very tasty sandwiches here. You can order from a selection of cold ones in the deli or walk over to the bar/restaurant side of the establishment to order a hot one. The price is definitely hovering up in the $ 10 – 15 range, pretty pricy since most are not served with a side. I do love the artisan breads and sauces that they use. You won’t get your typical sandwich here. The prepared salads in the case are like the ones they have at Whole Foods. Pricing and portions are comparable. Nothing really stands out for me there. Although I do like their curry tofu salad. Yum. The part that is probably closest to a grocery store is the deli side since they have shelves of snacks, coffee, and other little fancy pastries some of which are internationally-sourced. You will pay a pretty penny for whatever you decide to buy, however. Overall, I think the Seattle area needed an establishment like this. It’s different enough from the typical lunch/happy hour options that are in the area even if you won’t find the best bargain here! I’m planning on returning to scope out the restaurant side and get a taste of their famous avocado toast. Sounds like most of the options are tastefully prepared and presented.

Avocado toast. Repeat after me: Avocado toast. Who knew such a simple concept could be prepared in such a delicate and dynamic way. The toast features smashed klamata olives, capers, watercress, a drizzle of olive oil. Fresh, salty, sour, yet balanced! The wait staff are professional and friendly. I came here for my birthday and the general manager comped my first drink– a delicious Vesper Martini with gin, vodka, lillet, and lemon. Beyond the food, I like this place for it’s laid back yet sophisticated ambiance. Since part of the establishment is a high-end deli it lends a more relaxed atmosphere to the dining experience. I like it! It’s a great downtown happy hour/dinner spot that offers unique and affordable dishes but doesn’t feel pretentious.

«The unexpected sleeper lunch spot.» I have always thought this place was an upscale neighborhood convenience store. I was pleasantly surprised at what I have discovered. My daily lunchtime adventures has brought me to a convenient lunch spot I never thought existed within a close proximity of work. I had visited the store front area a week ago and did not even consider to walk back to the seating areas. There is a small section of tables and counter seating. Upon reviewing the menu I thought this might be worth a try. I ordered the BLTA with fries(Hobbs Bacon, lettuce, tomato, with avocado). The presentation on a wooden board definitely made the appearance of the sandwich appetizing. The sandwich was nicely toasted and grill marks were perfectly defined. The cheese was nicely melted and draped on the side of the crust as if it was an abstract design. The bacon was still crispy, the cheese still gooey, and the small fries was well-seasoned. The sandwich had a great mix of texture, taste, and presentation. The first bite was enough for me to decide that I will return to try other menu items. They also serve alcohol and the bar area provides a promise of many delicious cocktail concoctions.

Started working in this area and a co-worker took me here today for lunch. They have both a deli counter where you can order items to eat there or to take to go. They also have a small table service area in the back. We chose the table option and were really pleased. Service was fast and friendly. Co-worker had soup of the day(chicken and mushroom) and a ceasar salad. I had a mixed green salad and added a grilled chicken breast. We were both pleased with our options. Only negative feedback was the water glasses at the table. They were basically shot glass size and since that was my main beverage I ended up spending every few minutes refilling the glass. Prices were a bit high, but will be back to try other options and the deli/grocery area. Well done Market Hall!

So I’ve come back 3 times since my original review and I will say they have stepped there game up big time! Solid 4 stars, service is strong and food quality is right there. Andrea one of the servers/bartenders knocked it out of the park last time I was here. This is what I was waiting for, thank you market hall for stepping your game up!

After a tiring event downtown, my coworker and I needed wine! We stumbled into this place across from the Hyatt and were so thrilled! It was Happy Hour, so we ordered DELICIOUS Cabernets for $ 4. We also ordered the avocado toast, which was served on toasted, crusty bread and topped with a delicious tapenade! We also ordered truffle fries which was served with an addictive aioli! Service was fantastic, the style of the place was very industrial chic – my favorite kind of chic! Need I mention that we walked out with a combined check under $ 23? Crazy!
