I have never written a Unilocal review but feel it’s my duty as a responsible citizen to warn everyone about this place. Yes, the rent is low. Over the course of three years it has been hiked extremely high each renewal period; our last straw that pushed us to finally move was an increase of greater than 10%. They will keep increasing it. There have been no upgrades or changes made to the building to justify these increases. My intercom to let people in the building has never been fixed(in 3 years). When asked about it the manager just says«it reflects the market.» That’s a lie thus leading to my next point. The management, Pacific Crest, is awful. And I mean awful by real estate standards and not just in the way that people often complain about their landlords. I’ve been lied to multiple times, promised things will be fixed or changed… nothing happens. The current onsite manager, Suki, is lazy and does not take responsibility. I’ve complained about garbage being left around the building and the answer from him is always that he does sweeps of the building and picks up garbage. Lies. After his«sweep» I walked around the outside of the building and gathered an entire bag of trash. This is not the only problem with him. My neighbor smokes in his apartment despite it being a non-smoking building, but the guy keeps doing it and still lives there. Management hasn’t done anything. Everyone gets a free parking spot, but just one. How many does Suki have? Three. Maintenance requests take at least a month to be taken care of. The building is filthy and falling into disrepair because of him; his lack of awareness and willingness to do anything. The building isn’t safe. I live on the ground floor and have had two attempted break ins. Maybe it’s the location, but it probably has something to do with the people who have lived here. My first attempted break in occurred because two people were trying to retrieve guns that the previous tenant had stolen from them. And no, the management didn’t inform me that the people who lived in my apartment before me were sketchy. The building has a mold issue that continues to go unaddressed. My first complaint of mold was answered with being given a bottle of bleach and told to spray the areas down. Not once have I had any mold inspector come through to check the mold out that keeps coming back in all the same places… but the management assures me they’ve had someone check it all out. Lies. My intent isn’t to get even here or anything, after all I chose to live here and keep living here. It was cheap and at one point we did have a responsible manager who took care of the place and made it feel like a community. But those days are gone. I just wouldn’t feel right leaving this place and not letting it be known that this just isn’t a good place to live. No matter how enticing the low rent and location seems, it’s just not worth it. Shop around some more, I’m sure you’ll find a better place.
