When I first called Sustainable Works I was skeptical — I’d previously been jaded by a high pressure sales situation when I had another company come out to my home to get a quote for an unrelated project, and I tend to like to do most handy-work myself. That said, my anal-retentiveness of trying to make my house as efficient and cozy as possible paired with a frustration from hearing the furnace run near constantly during the November cold spell we had tipped me over the edge to set up an appointment with SustainableWorks. I had a great experience with the journeymen carpenter who came out and did the dirty work of a home energy audit. She literally knocked on the door within a minute of scheduled arrival time, was very responsive to questions I had and also allowed me to follow her around during the blower-door test with the infrared camera. The end results were not surprising — a very leaky home. Provided was a detailed report of findings along with quotes to address the inefficiencies. This included a break down of city incentives plus SustainableWorks rebates(with details on potential percentage efficiency increase per work item). With my 65 year old home, I ended up performing a portion of the work myself but agreed to have SustainableWorks take care of getting insulation blown into the walls. The work itself was subcontracted and organized by a project manager of SustainableWorks. The outcome was great — work performed on time, no signs of cedar shingles being removed along the entire perimeter of my home, and most of all a very noticeable reduction in the number of times my furnace cycles on in an hour. :) Would definitely recommend at minimum, get the audit performed.

As a result of working with SustainableWorks I was able to reduce my home energy usage by 20%, and access a few thousand dollars in incentives to help pay for the cost of my energy improvements.
