Jake, Dusty and the crew are awesome! Stone Soup Gardens transformed my boring front yard into a beautiful rain garden and a raised bed vegetable garden. They used materials from a tree I had cut down earlier and designed the garden to fit into the existing topography of my yard. Jake introduced me to hugelkultur, where you use rotting logs to provide nutrients to the soil. Using hugulkultur, the project produced minimal waste. Barely any materials had to be hauled away at the end. Jake was also very helpful in walking through the process of having the rain garden inspected and approved by the city. The rain garden rebate(Rainwise) is a great program to take advantage of, and Jake really knows how to maximize the benefit.

We installed a backyard rain garden with Stone Soup Gardens through the Seattle Rainwise program(which, incidentally is an awesome program). Stone Soup Gardens brings a level of understanding and detail to the design process that we could never expect to achieve, and made the process easy and straightforward. They are certified by the Rainwise program and are keenly aware of the rules and limitations, as well as having close relationships with the city to help make sure that your rebate is on its way. SSG specializes in edible plants, and we worked closely with SSG to design what the raingarden would look like, as well was what our favorite plants and potentially foods were. The main person we worked with — JB — was easy to work with and very responsive. The designer they contracted out — Jackie — has a great sense of design and helped to put together a beautiful garden with great flow. Once the process got underway, SSG was quick, professional and kept us in the loop every step of the way. They went above and beyond, helping us to transform our garden, even re-using elements from our own backyard, such as bricks and pots. We would gladly work with them in the future.

Stone Gardens owner Jake transforms space with eco-kindness and creativity. Having no gardening experience nor much land, I sought out Jake simply with a wish to eat out of my own my land and what did he think… no problem, in a few weeks and creative constructions, in –service eduction and some fun spirited go for it… I’ve harvested my first few meals of can’t– get –that-flavor –in-the-store greens and transformed my space. Stone Garden’s lovely eco ethos, education oriented approach, their warm human delivery and creative solutions come highly recommended.
