My experience was nice enough at the office; I needed my vision checked and glasses. After my consultation, I was told I had difficulty with ocular relaxation, and reading glasses would improve my vision, near and far. When I put them on in the office after picking them up, they were so blurry that I could barely see anything. I told them that I did not think it was the correct prescription, and they assured me it was and to keep wearing them diligently. After $ 200 and wearing these for nearly a month, I can safely say that these are not even close to what I needed. I have been nauseated and with the glasses cannot read or see anything in the distance. I actually feel like my vision has worsened, and I can’t wear these glasses anymore. I emailed Specialty Eyecare and asked if they had an ophthalmologist working there, since I really would have liked to see an actual doctor. No one responded, so I booked an appointment to see an actual MD, where the new eye doctor promptly told me that I don’t have any problem of the sort and that my prescription was completely wrong.

I moved to Seattle two years ago, so I booked an appointment at this clinic which is close to my house. Big mistake! The appearance of the clinic is nice, the receptionist was pleasant and the equipment is high tech, but they will upsell you any and every way possible. After going through the whole eye exam, it was going to cost about $ 80 (can’t remember exact amount), just to get them to write for a contact lens prescription. He wouldn’t write a prescription for the kind of contact lens that I use (which is one of the most popular brands on the market) and he would only write a prescription for an expensive daily contact. I have been wearing the same brand of contact lens for 3 years and I’ve never had any problems, so I didn’t feel like a switch was necessary. The guy also said he would recommend that I come in to have my dry eyes evaluated at an extra fee. I’ve never found this to be a problem. I ended up being there forty five minutes and I left without getting what I needed, although I’m sure my insurance got a hefty bill.

I’d be extremely remiss if I didn’t update my review of Specialty Eyecare Group. After my disastrous experience, I had a conversation with the owner and was immediately struck by the immediate responsibility and accountability he took for the mistakes. Not only has he impressed me with his integrity, Specialty Eyecare has gone above and beyond to correct their mistakes — even purchasing 6-​months of contact lenses on my behalf.
I can confidently say that this group not only deserves your business, they will work to earn and retain it!

I got the best eyeglasses prescription I’ve ever had at Specialty Eye Care. My astigmatism & presbyopia is a difficult prescription but they just nailed it. They also bent over backwards trying to help me with severe dry eye. They also have a pretty cool selection of frames.

I really enjoy my eye care place. I’ve been coming here for a couple of years for my eye exams and my glasses. Kavita did my eye exam last time. The exams are efficient and thorough. I was treated like an eye exam pro, basically saying, «you know the drill, start reading the lowest lines you see… Okay, now again.»
The frame selection they have is pretty good. Although I have to admit that the last time I went I’d say they had about 20% more frames. This time they didn’t have many frames and I ended up with a pair that I’m not super crazy about. One very annoying thing about this place (and why it doesn’t get 5 stars) is that the demo frames are individually locked so you have to have a sales person open each frame you want to try on each time.
Another good thing about this place is that the workers provide pretty good expertise and advice on the way the frames fit your face and nose. It isn’t creepy or overbearing either.
Overall, I like this place because I think they provide quality service, frames, and are experts in eye care and frames.
