Finally brought myself to visit Sound Soups so I could knock it out of my bookmarks. It wasn’t anything to write home about, but I was satisfied with my experience. Sound Soups is a cute little shop in the Westin building, so it can be hard to find — just look for their sign! And be sure to come a littttle bit before the lunch rush, as this is an option for all the construction workers and Amazonites(luckily, they’re all busy with the opening of Potbelly and Marination to care). Service: So great! The older Asian man that was manning the register was very sweet and he really made the experience that much better. He was patient when I was in the middle of deciding, and made sure to cover all the bases in order to make sure I got something I was going to like. He also provided me with a calendar for this month’s lunch specials! Food: The food is actually why I deducted a star. It wasn’t exactly bad, but I wasn’t wowed. I ordered the Combo A, which is ½ a sandwich and an eight ounce bowl of soup — it turned out to be the PERFECT size of each, which made me happy. I got the Corned Beef sandwich with my selected toppings, and it tasted just like a sandwich I could make at home(looked like it, too). It was kind of nostalgic, in a way… Reminded me of making myself lunches growing up lol. For my soup, I tried the split pea. It looks like baby food and comes as hot as lava, but it’s pretty tasty! Only thing that didn’t bring it home for me is that it doesn’t have ham in it… It could use a little bit more of SOMETHING, I’m just not sure what. Seeing how the nice man gave me a calendar of lunch specials, I may just have to come back and try out what else they have to offer.

I had the Cuban sub. It was pretty good. My daughter had the California Club and said it was awesome. The broccoli cheddar soup was a bit salty and didn’t have very much broccoli. My husband had the BBQ beef and enjoyed it.

I’ve been coming here for several years now(through 2 – 3 owners), and I like this place. Food is consistent, though menu of daily specials(the rotation) could use an update. I say that probably because I go there so often & would like to see something new. The sandwiches are good, the salads are decent. Soup is good. Staff are polite and very fast, prices are maybe a touch below average. Perfect place to grab and go, but still get a custom sandwich.

The clam chowder was better than some others I’ve had(looking at you soup daddy’s) but all in all nothing special. The hot pastrami however was nothing but a let down, though still edible. Doesn’t have that attractive of a location either. Seems to be no real reason to come back.

Went for lunch because of the pirq 50% off coupon. I was told that it wasn’t applicable, after arguiing and showing the coupon they allowed the coupon. The fare was decent but I was thoroughly unimpressed given the overwhelmingly positive reviews. It’s on the ground floor of the Westin building and it was empty at lunch time. I’ve noted that most of the positive reviews here are from 2 years ago. There were 5 soups available. There weren’t many vegetarian options.

If you are looking for a quick and affordable breakfast, check out the new«Sounds Soups & Deli»(formerly Sound Soups). They have a great menu featuring breakfast sandwiches for under $ 5! I personally love the $ 3 Bagel Sandwich with Sausage, Cheese, and Egg. In addition, while they do offer less soup than before, they now have a full deli with custom sandwiches as well as favorites. Each day they also have a hot food item such as lasagna, taco salad, or nummy favorites. I hope they are able to get a website up & running so it’s easy to stay posted on the faves. In the meantime, they have a calendar available in house. They offer a catering menu as well for business lunches. The new staff always have a smile on their faces, and remembered my name after only two visits! Therefore, four stars to you!

I would have gave 5 star if they had kept my fav. soup place as it was. Now it is more of a Deli and has less soup selections. They do daily special meal thingie and sandwiches… All the nutrition info on the soups weren’t there. I didn’t see the very nice soup ladies there either. And the soup was bit on a salty side… I already miss the Sound Soups at Westin Bldg… To give a pros, the sandwich prices weren’t too bad if you are looking for a not so fancy regular sandwich. I will give it another try but not keeping my hopes up…

I have to say that up until recently this place would’ve been a 4 – 5 stars for me. The food and service especially Rhonda(the lady with the cats) have been superior and the price is good for a lunch downtown. I’m not sure if there is a new owner or new management but my last visit was less than satisfactory, the soup I love, chicken tortilla was a new recipe, the rolls were hard and they were already out of cookies! What a disappointment, I was waiting for the weather to cool down for my favorite soup and was very much looking forward to it. I hope they go back to what made them great… you can’t sacrifice quality to save a couple pennies!

Sound Soup is home of the magic soup lady. This lady makes up the best soup I’ve had in the city, and throws in rolls, fresh corn bread, apples and home made cookies into one of the best lunch combos you can get down in Belltown. She’s got a great selection of tasty soups, vegetarian options included. The best discovery: Sloppy Viv’s(named for my friend who went with me). Sloppy Viv’s are either the Vegetarian Tomato Basil or the Hungry Man’s Steak or Chicken Chili parfait layered with mac and cheese. It was the magic soup lady’s idea. It’s best in a bread bowl or as a soup sandwich in one of the rolls you get in the meal combo. Delighted with the meal, she threw in free cookies and apples, stamped our cards and had us on our way. My friend said, «Man, that’s really nice.» And she said, «Yeah, it’s easy to be nice to you.»

Naturally, I discovered this place just as the weather is getting warmer and my desire for hot soup is waning. I have worked two short blocks away for two long years, and I just found them! They have approximately 20 different kinds of soup(every DAY!), subdivided into creamy, chowders, broths, and chilis. Order them in small, medium, large– or in a bread bowl! They also have rolls, baked potatoes(order with 1 – 3 toppings), a deli case of pre-made and pre-wrapped sandwiches, and freshly baked and wrapped cookies. Sound Soups totally beats the walk to Whole Foods for soup, because I got a loaded baked potato and a 12oz lobster bisque for a whopping $ 8. My coworkers got the vegetarian chili(this one is vegan and usually difficult to please) and the tomato gorgonzola soup, and all three of us are very happy with our choices. The two employees were really great and made sure to chat us up. Looks like there will be(limited) outdoor seating in the spring and summer months. I would say, «Welcome to the neighborhood, Sound Soups!», except they seem to have been here,(hiding) longer than I have.

Been here three times. Once was Jambalaya, once was Tortilla Soup, and the last time was Minestrone. All were very good with the Tortilla Soup getting the slight edge. And the staff here are very friendly. Interesting that this place had only one review(before mine). Do Unilocal-ers not like soup? Madness.

I may be biased since this is in the building I work in, but I think they have some of the best soup in town. Favorites: Chorizo Stuffed Green Pepper Spicy Crab Chowder Baked Potato Mac-n-Cheese Taco Salad Italian Wedding The staff is friendly. Get the 16oz size to get your monies worth.
