Great fitting bras and very helpful, knowledgeable salespeople!

I have been in maybe five times, ever hopeful, ever failing, and have never found anything of interest, proper size, design or texture here. It’s not my style.
It’s mostly heftily padded bras and night wear with animal print and neutral tones. The only positive I can’t seem to find very easily other places are the natural colors. I might like a nighty, but then not want to pay for it.

I never venture into this store because the prices are just way too high in my mind to pay for underwear, but they were having a ‘panty raid’ sale and since I had a good giggle about the name I wandered in. It was over a holiday weekend so the store was relatively empty. The store clerk was very helpful, perhaps maybe too much, but I did end up buying lots of underwear so I guess she really did her job well. She informed me all about the undies, apparently they are made with bamboo? Who knew. She promised me I ‘wouldn’t wear a more comfortable thong ever’. It was just very awkward to be discussing all that for me. But you know what? She was right! I highly recommend the undies with bamboo in them if you can catch another sale. I can’t say I’ll be buying anythign full price, $ 15 a pair regularly priced would give me a heart attack. But I agree that these are some of the more comfortable undie options I’ve worn. Also they do carry larger pretty bras at this store. I didn’t have time to deal with all that because they want to measure you and stuff but maybe next time?

I went there with a friend on a whim and saw some amazing bras. However, I also wanted to see what I was currently measuring, so I could buy the right size. My friend also got measured, and when the short haired salesgirl wasn’t listening we compared what we had heard. The measurements were so far off base for us each that I had to get remeasured just to know the truth. Her measurement of me: 44C. Actual professional measurement — 36DD.
The bras are great, but get measured elsewhere.

Two out of the three experiences I’ve had with this store have been great. The bras themselves are very well made, and it’s awesome that they carry my size (DD-​DDD, depending on the bra).
The petite, dark haired salesgirl is very sweet and helpful without being pushy at all. I felt like I was a valued customer. Even when doing a return, she made me feel very welcome to come back.
However, one rude salesgirl soured my last experience so much that I actually returned what I bought.
The last thing I want when I’m bra shopping is a salesperson being overly forceful and intrusive when I made it pretty clear that I wanted to take my time and didn’t need any help. She started grilling me about the type of bra that I wanted, and when I said I just wanted to pick out a variety of different types, she rebuffed me by saying, «Well, not all bras are going to work for you, because they’re all different shapes but your breasts are just one shape.» Um, yeah. That’s the reason I wanted to try a bunch of different ones on!
Not only that, she questioned my sizing. I can understand offering to fit me, but don’t press the issue and act snotty about it when I decline. Yes, I have been professionally fitted.
I like to take my time and compare and contrast (ie, try one bra, look at it with and without a shirt over it, try on a different one, switch back to the first one to compare, etc. I can easily take 20 minutes in the fitting room). I do NOT need anyone else’s opinion on the process.
After I had been trying things on for a bit, she came back and stood outside the fitting room for an uncomfortably long time, interrogating me about which bra I was trying on and if she could take a look at how it fit.
I already felt weirded out by her service, but I put a shirt on and opened the door so she could check. When she said, «Well, it looks smoother, but I can’t confirm or deny whether it fits right unless you take off your shirt,» I said, «I’m not really comfortable with that,» and she gave me a haughty look.
Look lady, I have been fitted, I know what works for me in your brand, and I know my body. Absolutely no, I won’t take off my shirt so you can check if the bra I’m trying on fits. The snide look when I said no? Not ok. I’m not sure what was going on, but I honestly felt a little violated, and like she thought she knew what would work for my body better than me.
After that awkward and uncomfortable experience, I wanted to get out of there as fast as I could, and being flustered, I ended up buying a bra that wasn’t ideal. I went to Victoria’s Secret so I could try on some of their bras, and found something that fit much better (without being hovered over). I then ended up returning the one I got at Soma. The other girl who works there was very kind and apologetic about my experience– I’m going to make sure she’s the one helping me when I come back!
I will come back and shop at Soma because I like their products (as long as I choose the right one), but I’m definitely going to stay away from that particular saleswoman.

This is where your mom gets lingerie.
I mean, it’s nice lingerie, and you’d be embarassed to see her in it, because it’s a little sexy, but it’s still more focused on those of us who have more in the way of curves than a stick with four balloons.
And while they have things some moms would tisk at, there’s a refreshing lack of abundance of things you wear for less than a minute before they’re ripped off.
That being said, the sales girls were really nice, the items were well stocked, of high quality and I’d shop there another time I’m looking for stuff to actually wear.

I have a confession to make: I dread lingerie shopping. *gasp*
Yeah it’s supposedly fun but if you happen to be over a D cup, good luck on finding cute and sexy bras in your size! So if anything, I find it as a chore to find these items.
Soma manages to make me not dread lingerie shopping. They actually carry really cute designs and colors for sizes above a D cup! The people who work there are very friendly and knowledgeable on their products. I even got remeasured for the first time in 3 years and learned that I have been wearing the wrong size for awhile. The sales lady chose some bras for me to try on and they definitely were a better fit. Although they only put items on hold for 24 hrs, she made an exception for me and is holding them until my payday. That was very nice of her.
BTW, all bras will be buy one get one 50% starting this Saturday. Go check it out if you can!
