I had a good brunch overall at Skillet, but I was expecting more from what I’ve heard from friends. The place itself is great, in an easy-to-get-to location in Capitol Hill, and is comfortable and welcoming. I got«The Burger» and was underwhelmed. It was good, but nothing to write home about. Overall this is a good brunch place to check out but not my favorite I’ve experienced in the area.

Must try the biscuits and gravy. Biscuits so fluffy and really good atmosphere. Only bad thing is you’re going to have to wait 20 – 40 minutes on the weekend.

Well… the fries are reliably good. At our recent visit, the cocktails were good and so was our attentive server. The rest? Well… My burger was sad. Well done(not medium as requested), with a dry bun and large chunks of lettuce that immediately fell out on to the table. Glad the fries were good… but I already covered that topic, didn’t I? The bland and dry falafel dish that my husband got was able to be swallowed down by adding the hot sauce that came with the DINOSAUR size chicharones that we laughed about and took some silly photos with, but otherwise were too hard and oddly shaped to be able to actually eat. Not so sure I’m going out of my way to return again anytime soon.

Hipster dinner with some good eats. I frequent Skillet since I live down the street and haven’t been disappointed once. The menu is on the smaller side, but everything is well executed. I usually try and get one of the weekday specials, or the daily specials to mix it up a little bit. My only complaint is how some of the fried stuff tend to be on the sweet side, which just throws me off. The portions are on the larger side and won’t leave you disappointed. The drinks are good with a decent selection of beer and cocktails. The service has always been fast, friendly and enthusiastic. The staff has never failed to make me laugh. I generally don’t encounter a wait, but brunch seems to be the peak meal time.

Ordered the«ultimate» grilled cheese and was thoroughly unimpressed. Bread is overly fluffy and generally flavorless. It reminds me of bad diner bread. The cheese was very poorly spread out. The center was loaded and the edges were nearly barren. The cheese itself was good enough, but not extraordinary. The tomato soup it came with was gross. I’ve had better Campbell’s soups. Overall, this grilled cheese was anything but«ultimate.» I’ve had better grilled cheeses that used kraft singles. I did get a side of bacon that was good though.

We had a gift certificate that showed up somehow, as we couldn’t for the life of us remember where we got it… Glad we did. Loved the food and loved the vibe. The«Tall boy du jour» was fun. I had the Burger and my wife had the chicken Sammy. my was good, here was fabulous!

Came to Skillet for a last meal in Seattle — it was good, but didn’t really blow me away. For how popular the place seems to be, the service and quality of the food were both just okay. Pros: –Bottomless coffee from Caffe Vita: cure your sleepiness/hangovers without feeling guilty about ordering multiple drinks. They also have coffee dispensers outside for you to get a drink while you’re waiting — definitely appreciated this! –Portion sizes: pretty generous –Atmosphere: I really liked the interior! It felt like a dressed-up version of a diner: trendy but still cozy. The place was bustling and lively when we came. Cons: –Wait: even with a reservation, my friend and I waited for a good 15 – 20 minutes to get a spot. If you’re planning to eat on the weekend for brunch, definitely make a reservation or you’ll be waiting for a while. –Prices: not unusual for brunch to be honest, but still quite up there for the quality of the food we got. Overall: Give it a shot if you’re itching to try someplace new, but Skillet isn’t a must-try, especially if you’re not in Seattle for a while.

Love this place! I gave it 4 stars only because the wait was long, but it’s that bomb of a place it’s going to be packed. Food is bomb! I was in Seattle for vacation and Unilocaled brunch places and this came up. My wife and I got some chicken sandwich thing and I dream about everyday. Prices is decent and just a bit packed. I recommend anyone here for brunch or lunch or weddings! It’s that good.

One of the best places I visited on my trip in Seattle! [WAITTIME] About 20 minutes when I arrived on a weekend, and there was complimentary coffee outside to enjoy while you’re waiting! [SERVICE] Thank you to Steven for being one of the best servers I’ve ever had in a while, your enthusiasm and outgoing attitude really put me in a good mood! [FOOD] I ordered the Chub burger(bacon jam, american & Brie cheese, one egg, bacon, jalapeño aioli, greens, and tomato) and replaced my patty with a fried chicken thigh($ 5 extra). The side salad was actually fantastic, and the fried chicken was crispy and thick! Loved every bite. My friend ordered the Burger(bacon jam, arugula, and creamy bleu cheese). Her patty was thick, and incredibly juicy! One of the best patties I’ve had in a while as well. We also ordered the donut holes(only available on the weekends) because they were out of the cinnamon rolls, and they were made fresh to order. I loved the glaze and powdered sugar on them, they were incredible! I recommend getting these if you’re there on the weekend. Had an amazing experience dining here overall!

Comfort food at its best!!! I have always been a fan of the skillet and the mini-skillet in the Armory near the Space Needle. Both locations are great and they have others, but the Capitol one has the full menu although finding parking near the Needle is probably easier. Everything on the changing menu is fantastic, a few musts are the poutine, the burger, fried chicken Sammy, meatloaf and fried chicken. You really cannot go wrong with anything on the menu except maybe completely destroying your diet. They also make killer mixed drinks and have a few local drafts on tap. So if you find yourself anywhere near a Skillet and have a craving for some amazing comfort food you got to stop in and check them out!

This place is loud, busy, casual, and the people are trendy. The poutine is different than what I’ve had but so good! The cheese is melty and covers every fry but it’s still crispy. One order is enough to share with a group of four. The deconstructed beef hash really surprised me. There are cubes of tender juicy beef and potatoes with an over easy egg(or however you like them). I will definitely come back here.

Overall food was good, place was good for groups, slightly over priced for what you get. This was a nice sunny spot for brunch and they were able to accommodate a large group(about 10). Overall the quality was good but I wasn’t «wowed» by it. I got«the chub» with the chicken thigh. The flavor combinations sounded great but there was so much going on that some of the flavors got lost. I thought it was good enough but not worth the price($ 17). I likely would not get it again.

the fried chicken was delicious and tasted even better after taking it home and enjoying it the next day. the drink menu offers a variety of selection and brunch seems to be quite popular. the pork belly with corn meal was ok, more fat that meat but pretty decent(I wouldn’t order it again though). service was friendly and helpful. we visited on a saturday during brunch and paid for street. the wait was about 45 minutes before we were seated so be prepared to wait.

I come here specifically for their bacon jam and stock up every time I’m there so that I can add it to anything and everything. Service can be hit or miss but to be honest I’m usually so focused on my bacon jam that they’re just an afterthought. Oh yeah their hey girl hey cocktail isn’t shabby either. GETTHEBACONJAM!!!

We got the recommendation from our airbnb hosts to come and check out Skillet, which was only a few blocks away from where we were staying. WOW, what a recommendation! This is such a great breakfast spot. Even though it was busy when we arrived, we were seated almost immediately by the server. The restaurant itself is very bright with cute décor. As far as food goes, we were not disappointed. I ordered the Serious French Toast and switched out the ham for fried chicken(the best of both worlds as I was in between the French toast or waffle) and my bf got the Chub. We were both very happy with our food! Everything was so delicious. The only miss of our meal were the donut holes, they were not as great as we expected. However, they ended up being more of an afterthought after our amazing breakfast choices anyway. I only wish there was a Skillet in LA that I could hit up from time to time…

The diner Skillet is a smooth place. Prices are moderate and wait times are short. There’s better, yet it is up to task with things such as poutine on the menu. The menu is mostly American, with some Southern emphasis. Going here was good. The biscuits and gravy was what I had. It was good and the gravy was of the utmost dedication. The portion was not too big, and neither was too small. My biscuit was good, though Portland is the city for biscuits. I would love to have brunch here. Suit yourself accordingly.

4.5STARS Brunch is one of my favorite meals. Waking up to eat eggs and drinking bubbly? Yes please! For our last meal in Seattle, I decided to go to Skillet Diner. I made a same day reservation on Wednesday, January 20th through OpenTable at 12:15pm for a party of two. *deconstructed corned beef hash — fingerling potatoes, herbs, roasted onions, carrots, fennel, two eggs your way($ 14) *the chub — bacon jam, american & brie, one egg, bacon, jalapeño aioli, greens, tomato, brioche bun($ 13), add fried chicken thigh(+$ 5) *side of bacon($ 6) *brunch 75 — vodka or gin, st. germain, bubbles, grapefruit($ 9) I got the chub. It’s a breakfast sandwich and you can add fried chicken?! Sold! This thing was gigantic! I had to eat it in sections since it was too big to bite into. I loved all the elements except the bacon jam. It was actually a little too sweet for me. The brie was a great touch as it added a nice creaminess to the sandwich. The roommate got the hash. He doesn’t like carrots so he had to pick them out as there were a lot of carrots. Otherwise, I think he enjoyed the dish. We always order a side of bacon to share, but since my sandwich had strips of bacon in it, I only had one strip. It provided a good contrast as the bacon in my sandwich was super crispy and crunchy. The side bacon was a little more meaty. And what’s brunch without a little alcohol? I wanted a mimosa, but they only seemed to offer pitchers, so I decided on the brunch 75 with vodka. Light and bubbly, but still pack a small punch. I have a girlfriend who loves breakfast sandwiches and chicken sandwiches. Before I left, I sent her a photo with the note: «Two of your loves: a Breakfast sandwich +Fried chicken sandwich = Fried chicken breakfast sandwich!» Her response, «Get IN my mouf!!!» I think that pretty much sums my experience at Skillet Diner.

Oh man, if you want a fat, greasy sandwich, the grilled cheese sammy with fried chicken thigh is the way to go! It was excellent in how it was executed, the bread was thick, crispy on the outside and soft inside. The ooey gooey thick cheese was infused with a still crispy piece of fried chicken inside. It was a heart attack worth trying! I ordered it with salad(to make myself feel better), but you can even opt for poutine on the side if you want for an extra $ 3. The poutine itself was too salty for me, perhaps from the gravy. I’m not a big fan. My friend also got the bacon jam inside her sammy, if you love bacon, should def get it! Service was okay, the workers there don’t seem to pay too much attention to your needs.

As a Seattle newb, I’ve been on the hunt for a good brunch place. I’ve been craving a plate of good breakfast food since I arrived on this coast. Unfortunately, I haven’t found it yet. I wanted to like Skillet, but it wasn’t great. I’ve detailed the pros and cons of my experience below. I might give it another chance one of these days. Pros: –Food tasted good. I got biscuits and gravy. It wasn’t the best, but I can’t say it was bad. –free coffee while we waited outside. What a nice gesture! I’m glad I didn’t stop at Starbs on the way over. –got seated before our reservation and the hostess was nice! Cons: –superrr pricey. I’m still getting used to Seattle prices, but this place was too much! All of the brunch options run over $ 10! –small portions(for brunch food). It was plated nicely, but I want a little more, especially for the price. –terrible service. I rarely do this, but my tip was under 15%. The waiter just disappeared for a longgg time. I understand he probably had a lot of tables, but we didn’t feel taken care of. His English wasn’t the best, which made it hard for us to communicate. Also, he didn’t know the menu(he actually gave my friend false information) – this was my main concern. -$ 3 to add a single fried egg to my biscuits and gravy. Wtf. It didn’t even come with anything. $ 14 for biscuits and gravy with a single egg. –my Bloody Mary was way too salty and so spicy, I couldn’t handle it. I had trouble finishing it, but felt like I had to because it was $ 10(!!) I want to make it clear that I don’t mind paying a little extra for a nice experience and some good food, but I don’t think this place was worth the money. Mediocre food, poor service, and not a great value. Still searching for my perfect brunch place…

Went here for breakfast and ordered the French Toast with pouched eggs. It was more than three hungry men could eat. I did my best and enjoyed every bite. The menu is interesting and those who try this play should have a open mind when ordering. Didn’t have the skillet but looked good when being served to the table next to us. Will definitely return and give it a try. Seating is a bit small and close quarters but worth the cramped atmosphere for the great food.

Skillet is undoubtedly one of my favorite restaurants in the Capitol Hill area. It’s simple decadent comfort food that I love especially considering the fried chicken is so delicious. Orginally, I was hooked on their food from trying it at the food truck, but since the truck rotates locations, the store front establishment is the more convenient option. The wait can be pretty long sometimes, but it can be a hit or a miss since the crowd seems to come in waves. There is a pretty decent number of seats especially since there’s a wrap around patio for outdoor seating. The establishment is relatively new, and is styled very nicely. It is a diner in concept but a modern style. The only thing that could be improved is the level of friendliness of the servers. A few of them seemed just annoyed at baseline and it makes for awkward or uncomfortable encounters. However, I still highly recommend this place because of how amazing their food is. I would wait in a long line and deal with staff anytime for Skillet food.

One of my favorites, definitely a place you’d want to come on your diet ‘cheat days’. They have delicious fried chicken here and you have an option of including a piece on the side to any dish. Both the brunch and regular menu have a good variety of options — all the dishes I’ve tried so far have yet to be disappointed. Of my many favorites here, the top include the fried chicken sammy, the chub, and caramelized grapefruit. I would be a regular here if it weren’t breaking my diet, haha. I first fell in love with Skillet from the food truck, but once I learned of the permanent establishment close to home, I started going to this Capitol Hill location more often. The restaurant is relatively new at the bottom of an apartment complex. The style is modeled after a diner, but with a modern take and design — it is very well done. They have in and outdoor seating, but gets full quickly. Speaking of which, [be aware] of the wait time here. The wait time today was an hour. and we checked in at 11:00am. Once seated, the time to receive food on your table after ordering is another 30 minutes. If you’d like to reduce your wait time, just avoid the lunch/dinner rush. Most of the time I like to check in around 10:00am for brunch. Overall though I highly recommend this restaurant to all foodies out there, especially those that enjoy comfort foods.
