5 stars. I’m really picky about places I put my time and money into. So, as a current student of 3 months, I have one thing to say: I’d recommend Seattle Wing Chun to my friends and girlfriend. Here are just a few reasons while I’ll continue going to Seattle Wing Chun: Relaxed atmosphere. Helpful students. Great teacher. I’ve learned a lot here in a short time. I really like this place and how much it contrasts to a few other places I’ve tried in Seattle. The teacher, Stephen, is really nice and helpful. My favorite part about this place is how open Stephen is: When I first joined I said that I wanted to try out multiple schools — and he said that was a great idea. When I was traveling for work he set me up with a sister school in the area, so I could keep training. Stephen also holds workshops and hosts other wing chun teachers, so students here really learn a lot. If you’re trying to learn Wing Chun in Seattle — this is the place to be.

Wow, I had such a bad experience here. I would not recommend this teacher to anyone, though Wing Chun style seems pretty cool. Steven, the instructor was a bully to all the women in the one class I attended, while he more or less ignored the men. He was an extremely hands on instructor, not allowing us to interact with each other, spending over an hour«demonstrating» techniques with/to/on us, which involved all three of us getting hit in the face and neck(lightly) repeatedly, getting driven back against a wall under a flurry of light blows, and getting hit hard on the chest and arms. All three of us were there for our first class. I understand that we were there to learn fighting techniques, but he was not teaching– he was asserting dominance. It was gross. I’ve never witnessed a martial arts instructor behaving like that before, and hope I never do again.

This is a place where all levels can fit in and excel. I’ve learned concepts that transcend pounding techniques in your head and know I found what I wanted. I’ve been training for 8 months and I still look forward every week. For my first martial art, I sought Wing Chun and I found an excellent place.
