Pure powerlifting/strongman stuff going on here. I was visiting Seattle for a few days and emailed the owner, Todd, to see about dropping in to train since I’m new to powerlifting and wanted to keep my training on schedule. Luckily for me, he said no problem. This gym is A-FREAKIN’-MAZING. It’s underground and busting at the seams with racks, benches, platforms, trophies, pictures, chalk, chains, strong people, atlas stones, tires, GHR, plates upon plates, bands… EVERYTHING. The crew was nothing but intense and friendly. Todd was awesome, helpful and gave me some great insight and advice on my squat. I was able to get my training done in a very hardcore and motivating atmosphere which is just exactly what I needed. I was so afraid I would end up at a commercial gym and get in trouble for slamming weights down etc. Thank you again Todd and everyone at SSP for allowing me to jump in and get my work done! If you’re a powerlifter/strongman and you’re in Seattle… PLEASE check them out.

Todd is a great guy and helped me tremendously. I spoke to him many times on the phone before finally being able to make my schedule work. He is and has trained many world class athletes. What an honor to lift with him and his crew.

I have trained at many places over the years and this gym is the best, for one reason. RESULTS! At 44 I am getting stronger than I have been in years. Todd who owns the place knows what he is doing. The gym is not fancy or frilly but it works. They have strongman equipment like tires and sleds also. They have women in their 60’s deadlifting with competitors in international strong man competitions. It’s an eclectic mix and thats a good thing. If you are going in circles at your current gym or just need to get off the couch and get strong again, I recommend you get in this gym.

Seattle Strength and Power is the best place to go if you are a powerlifter or strongman. This is not a gym for everybody. You won’t find rows of treadmills and bikes with TVs on them, or tanning booths surrounded by wannabe bodybuilders. What you find at SS&P is real lifting. They’ve got 2 monolifts, deadlift platforms, multiple power racks, Forza bench presses, and all sorts of strongman gear(stones, tires, yoke, etc). Most importantly, the attitude of a real gym, where people are there to work, to push themselves, to get stronger. SS&P is run(and coached) by Todd Christensen, who is in the WA state USAPL hall of fame. Lifters there hold numerous world records. Its an atmosphere unlike any other gym in Seattle. I’ve been going here for over a year now, and its the first gym in Seattle I’ve actually enjoyed. I’ve improved over 100lbs on my three-lift total, and that’s coming from an experienced lifter already. This is the only place to be if you’re interested in competitive strength sports!
