Got my real ID taken by their new manager. Briley the waiter was great. Had to über home to get my passport to have a beer. I turn 22 in 6 days. Pink shirts are out of date BTW

Every time I have gone here in the past 3 months there has been a problem with the service. The wait staff is very slow, and my order is seldom correct when arriving at the table. The last time I was there, they made a mistake on my order, which wasn’t that big of a deal, but then when they brought it back out, it was wrong again, and instead of correcting it, they just brought out the missing ingredients on a plate for me to add on myself. I love the food, but the fact I am required to leave an automatic tip for very poor service really ruins the experience.

We’ve had good food here, but today’s visit will be the last. We had three issues with our visit.
First, there’s a 19% gratuity (tax) added onto your meal which is mentioned on the menu but otherwise not posted.
Secondly, the children’s menu has a dish listed that does not arrive as stated. My son ordered the kids grilled chicken fingers, which has print under it stating it can be made gluten free, which when I read this it meant (to me) you could get it gluten free, or not. When it was delivered the waitress said here are your grilled chicken breasts. There were two large chicken breasts or it might have been one breast cut in half and grilled. I said this isn’t chicken strips, she told me it was but it was cooked without gluten i.e.: grilled plain. This made no sense as the menu said chicken strips but she delivered grilled chicken breasts. I sent it back and explained chicken strips are normally long pieces of breaded chicken. I offered if they couldn’t do this that we’d like chicken nuggets. Mind you my husband and I were about done and our son was still waiting for his food. The chicken nuggets arrived and looked just like chicken strips. Maybe the cooks don’t know the difference between chicken strips and nuggets?
I talked to the manager about their menu not being accurate and all he could respond with was «agreed» and «I’ll look into this.»
Lastly, my fish was incredibly dry. For $ 18.00 I should not have received dry salmon. I ordered lemon wedges with the salmon and had to ask a second time for them when they didn’t arrive with the (dry) fish.
For the aforementioned reasons, this will be our last visit to The Ram. We were rammed with a huge tax, a mislabeled dish, dry salmon, and staff who couldn’t care less.

We come here after my husband’s graduation to celebrate the event. Parents from out of town, we were all dress up, 7 adults, 1 child. We waited 45 mins (not too bad) on a Friday night. Service was terrible, I feel that the gratuity were already added into the check so the serve didn’t feel the need to take care of us. We asked him several time to bring us things that we need: napkins, straws, refill on our drink. He was so slow and forgot about us. Then when the food came, they drop one of the steak on the floor. The whole experience was very disappointing, we wont be coming back here. And it was expensive.

Santa Fe Rodeo burger is really good, I specially liked the hot chili peeper on top. I paired it with the Porter beer. I’m coming back to try the Ricardo or Cuban sandwich.

I used to love the Ram, it was my nostalgic go to place when I was a student here at UW (2010 – 2014). Years later eating here I have to say it has changed for the worst.
Tip (gratuity) is now a mandatory 19% even if you received terrible service. The food is less than stellar, decent, however a lot of items were taken off the menu.
After a less than welcoming experience with a group of friends (bad service) I am sad to say this is the last time I am eating here.

A very typical Ram experience, they tend to be pretty consistent. The food was excellent, service was great, and we were in and out in a reasonable time for lunch. Note: tipping (19%) is automatically included to the bill.

Holy hell has this place gone downhill. I live down the street and have gone to this location for 15 years.

I’d offer it’s actually worse than that. If you’d like a better burger go to Kidd Valley or Red Robin.
According to one waitress they had to eliminate most of the choices from the menu because «they took too long to cook and since they raised minimum wage we can’t make money off of anything that takes time to cook.» According to a waiter the food’s shit «because all of the kitchen staff quit a few weeks ago.» The manager — a man appearing to be in his mid-​20s or early 30s — didn’t get it at all: he thought my forlorn thin buns and an overcooked plain burger — no lettuce, no tomato, no sauce, no presentation, basically… nothing but bare burger was «fine» and «didn’t see a problem with it.
Our food looked like shit, tasted like meh and took more than a half-​hour to be served. I won’t go back as this is the 3^rd time it’s been this poor.
I give them 6 months before they’re out of business. Wish they’d do us a favor and close it sooner so we could get in a decent restaurant than this sad, pathetic has-​been

I’ve always wanted to try their Mac&cheese here because you can add multiple add ons to it. I ordered the Mac&cheese with Alaska snow crab which was absolutely amazing. It had just the right amount of cheesiness & snow crab so it wasn’t too cheesy or creamy. There was also bread crumbs on top and it was slightly baked.
I would definitely go back again and try it with the other add ons. I haven’t tried the other dishes at the ram before but I’ve heard good things about their burgers and sandwiches and fries.

Went to the Ram last night. My husband and I were seated promptly and were greeted warmly by our server, Jillian. She was amazing! She suggested great items, let us take our time to order, was always checking on our table, and really took the time to connect with us. I never felt like I was LOOKING for her, she always came back with a great attitude, despite the fact that her section seemed pretty full. As someone who has served before, I know how tricky it is to tackle a really big section with poise, and she did just that.
My husband loved his fish and chips, and I quite enjoyed my porter burger with a side of mac and cheese (a great suggestion by Jillian for someone who couldn’t decide on what to eat!) Truth be told, the sauce on the burger was a little overpowering and on the sweet side, but I’m glad I tried it! That MAC AND CHEESE is something I will definitely reorder.
If it’s been a few years since you’ve been to the Ram, now’s a good time to revisit it! Their menu is a lot tastier than I remembered. Good food, great beer, great service. Go and sit in Jillian’s section. :)

Came in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon.
I’d already read the Unilocal reviews and wasn’t expecting much but it’s so close/​convenient to where I live I figured I’d give it a try.
It’s basically a sad sports bar that maybe at one time had more of a brewpub feel but now has fallen into disrepair. We’re talking torn-​up carpet, sticky menus and tabletops, wonky chairs, chipped paint, the whole nine yards.
The food is similar to what you’d find at a place like Applebee’s, only a little more expensive and not as good (not that Applebee’s is ever remotely good but hopefully you get what I’m saying).
Usually a place like this you can at least take some solace in the fries but even those weren’t good. HOW DO YOU MESS UP FRIES?
Everything tasted sad and sub-​par, like eating at an airport.
The two stars are for service. Complaints about the food and décor aside, the staff was attentive and nice.

I think that the RAM is good at what they do. Traditional American food and sweet happy hour deals for a generally college-​aged crowd. But beyond that, I don’t feel that they achieve anything very special.
This location is specifically located in University Village, where it fits in quite well. I went for the first time on a Monday night with a group of friends and I had a pretty pleasant experience for what it was. On Monday nights, they have trivia and that was a blast though it did take up quite a bit of time so if you plan on going, plan for the long haul.
I ended up having the macaroni and cheese with no toppings and while it was good, I don’t necessarily believe it was worth the price I paid for it.
Overall, the RAM is a place I would go to for things like a trivia night or perhaps a day when I’m craving a burger and fries, but beyond that, it remains a standard restaurant of its type. Also BTW, they charge a 19% service charge on all checks, and it is at your own discretion to tip on top if you so desire.

I wish I could give The Ram more stars, but after the big menu change in February the few reasons I’ve come here for the past 8 years has finally hit the road.
The menu is now a page list of items like fancy fish tacos and specialty burgers that aren’t too appetizing. What happened to a plain old bacon cheeseburger? At least they still have the giant fish and chips options.
The happy hour menu still has a few options but unless you are here between 3−6pm you’re out of luck for good, old classic appetizers.
The selling point is by far the beer. They not only have the regular stuff on draft, but they have home brewed beer as well. Each location has a different brew master who uses their own recipe for their special brews. Judging from what I’ve had in the past I feel that there is something for everybody.
They have a separate bar section if you want to get a group together and watch the game. They are also open late if you wanted to meet with some friends.
The staff here has always been the best part of the experience. My servers and the floor staff have been nothing but nice and courteous. What they lack for food is made up by the wait staff.
My final words are: Food is meh. Service is pretty good. Prices are meh. Décor and seating is alright.
Is the Ram still worth going to now that even the most basic items have been hacked away and changed? I say no, but judge for yourself.

This is more like 3.5 stars rounded down slightly, only because chains are boring. No real fault of theirs. They’re packed all the time, anyway. And they do try to overcome the sameness of chain dining/​brewing.
I’ve been coming here for years and years, off and on – longer than I care to remember. I’ve watched many Husky games here, and even heard in the bar here that we had hired Rick Neuheisel as our football coach before it was announced to the press. U Village has exploded around it in the last 25 years, going from a big parking with about 10 businesses to a thriving hub of magnetism aimed at the credit cards in the tony neighborhoods to the east of here. I used to come down the hill from campus for Mexican food or a beer years ago; now this place is choked with BMWs and Range Rovers and I never come in here anymore. But the Ram still feels exactly the same, once you get inside.
Like all Rams, they brew the beers that HQ tells them to brew, and they market those boldly in every store. And also like all Rams, the individual brewmasters have the freedom to design their own recipes and showcase those themselves. These are often very good, sometimes shockingly good, and different at every location. Each Ram is a little brewery unto itself with a few beers of its very own. There are some nice lagers and mainstream ales (porters, stouts, IPAs, etc.) pouring here now that Greg is on the brewdeck. He’s quite talented, and able to do some nice stuff. You can find the house beers on the chalkboard under the «Rotating Seasonals» headline. They tend to be clean and fairly appealing to the mainstream, not real wild risk-​taking type recipes. But they’re made well, very clean, with good flavors and aromatics.
The facility itself is enormous, and swallows giant lunch, dinner, and gametime crowds. Tons of restaurant seating, tons of bar seating. Lots of sports leagues and work events and other groups pile in here. It’s big and airy, with high ceilings. The furniture is exactly the same as at every other Ram, and there’s no shortage of it, that’s for sure. The bar is full of flat screens and one gigantic drive-​in-​size projection screen. Good speakers. You can definitely enjoy the game here.
The menu is lots of pub grub, with plenty of apps, burgers, salads, sandwiches, and so on. Their kitchen program here is very exactingly executed; they monitor every store carefully for consistency and minimal waste. I really appreciate the minimal waste part, but I’d be happy to see more unique specials coming out of every kitchen; I think cooks are happier that way. The food’s good, though – we had pretzels and queso, and they were delicious, priced well.
What sucked here was the service. The kids were super nice and friendly, and circulated through the big room regularly. But they’ve eliminated tipping here, switching to automatically adding a 19% service charge to the bill. The kids seem to be coasting a bit now. We waited 5 minutes for menus, 5 more for water, 10 to order, and so on, and so on. We never had the same kid at the table more than about twice. It was kind of a lull in between lunch and dinner, so they were probably breaking each other a lot, but they gotta at least cover the tables they do have. They’re banking on 19% all night every night, and taking it easy as a result. I don’t mind leisurely beers and snacks by any means, but come on, man.

This 4-​star rating is based off of my last visit here which was a few days ago.
Before my last visit here, I would’ve given the ram a 2.5-star rating based on their basic service and mediocre food (soft fries and decent burgers). I have been here more than a handful of times to watch games, trivia night on Mondays, Sunday night Madness (½ off menu, great deal!), and lunch and dinner outings. They have solid in-​house brewed beers.
On my last visit, I noticed a new menu (fewer items, but also some new options), their new 19% gratuity policy, and better service and delicious food! We were served by Natalie who was very sweet and checked up on us the perfect number of times. Our food came out promptly.
We started with the new Ahi Tuna Poke Nachos which were great! Topped with tons of fresh fish and the flavors were fantastic. Our entrees came out right as we finished out appetizer. The fries were done perfectly (my recurring issue with their undercooked and cold fries was gone) and my burger, the Big Porter Blue (which I have gotten many times), was way better than I’ve ever had it. It was cooked perfectly medium-​rare (although I asked for rare, it was fine by me) and the bun was toasted well. My friends got the new carnitas pulled pork street tacos and the crab and artichoke melt. They loved their food as well!
Since the new year, the changes are mostly positive. The only negative is the bill looks pretty big due to the 19% tip. Oh well, my experience was much improved and I will no longer roll my eyes when someone suggests The Ram as long has the quality of the food and service continue!

Where to start. … Bad service, mediocre food and drinks, prices… ADDING A 19% TIP.
I have been to this Ram about 6 times. Never been impressed with the food, it is okay. Some stuff is better than others and on different days.
In the past the service was also… Okay.
Never had a cocktail here before, but how do you screw up a vodka martini with olives. Not only that but it took a full 20 minutes to get it.
With the poor service, we could never find our waitress and everything took long; prices on the high side; food on the low end of okay; … All that and now there is a mandatory 20% gratuity, not going back anytime soon.

The Ahi Poke Nachos is an appetizer anyone with a connection to Hawaii will LOVE without doubt. What a great mixture of chunch + ahi fish. The Poke makes this nacho like none-​other. Poke alone is great but this puts it over the top!
So delicious, I want to bring my dad here just to try this appetizer!

Low level service, low food quality, 20% surcharge that they explain as «not a tip», only a little goes to servers. Downhill slide for the Ram. Sad.

Worst ever! «New» mandatory 19% tip policy is horrible. We will never return. Since when did tips become «mandatory?» We were a two top. The service was terrible. Arrogant waiters who ignored us and acted annoyed when we asked for more napkins. Our burger orders were wrong and the manager didn’t even come out to apologize. Really? Never again.

When my son is in town, he loves to eat at the Ram, especially the one on the water at Ruston Point. During his last visit, we went twice to the Northgate site. The new salary+no tipping was in effect and our service was LOUSY in several ways. We had a small lunch, every one had a mixed drink and we all wanted one more drink and dessert (that’s the reason for smallish lunch). However, we were given our bill before we finished eating, we just left and finished elsewhere. I usually tip 20% so they lost a little. The whole 70% blah blah goes to whoever is not necessary for me to know. We just returned from touring southern Italy so we were good with no tip and I am happy for people to get a raise. But not the disinterested service. The 2^nd time was a late dinner and even worse service, long waits even though the place was half empty, just didn’t care, had to ask for Tabasco 3 times, etc. I don’t plan on going back. There are too many choices around here.

I been here in the past and the food is fine, nothing to get overly excited about, typical bar food. However came in last night and the restaurant was half empty We were met by a surly waitress who was obviously having some issues and did not return to our table for 10 minutes to take our order. Overall service was slow and poor, the food was OK. The ending surprise is that when you receive your check, you’ll discover they have removed the tip line on their checks but have automatically include a 19% surcharge no matter the size of your group… even for one.
Evidently, there is a little sign on the back of the table that explains how they decided this was the fair way to do things and 70 percent of the amount goes to the server. Well, Ram Restaurant and Brewery, I would much rather you raise your prices and how about you just pay your employees fair wages?
I generally am a good tipper. Never a bad tipper but 20% or more is for exceptional service not mediocre food and service.
Additionally, since this was a recent change (January 2016) why don’t you put a sign on the door or a notice in the menu so people can make an informed choice before it is too late to object?

No complaints about the food, beer, or service. Biggest regret was that we asked the hostess prior to even entering the restaurant if NBC sports was offered and if one of the 10 TV’s in the bar area could be changed to the event we wanted to watch. She said of course and we waltzed right in. We asked our waiter for NBC Sports and he also seemed very accommodating… it wasn’t until we had put in over $ 50 worth of food/​drink orders and were ready to watch the event that we were informed they do not offer that channel. Had to gobble food down fast in order to make it home in order to watch the end of the event live. Just very disappointing that a sports bar doesn’t offer NBC Sports as an option and were not upfront about the station not being offered. We could have taken our service elsewhere with no problem and not missed 75% of the event we came to watch.

Last time eating at the Ram. They instituted a mandatory 19% surcharge and thus no tipping. They say it’s because they care about their employee’s, but the math says something else. By taking 40% of the servers tips and giving it to the back of the house employee’s they can now prove that the back of the house workers make at least $ 1 an hour in tips. Why does that matter? Because in Seattle when a tipped employee makes at least $ 1 an hour in tips the restaurant only has to pay that employee $ 10.50/hr vs $ 12/​hr. Imagine how much money the Ram is saving by paying its employee’s $ 1.50/hr less by stealing 40% of the servers tip. And this is advertised as an employee owned company? HA!

It was New Years Eve of 2016 and my friends and I were looking for a place around the area we had dinner for some drinks. Not being from this area (we’re from California), I quickly used Unilocal as my guide and found this place. In order to get into the new year’s eve mood, I told my friends that we should ordered an AMF. I asked our waiter to see if they can makes us one and gladly went out and made one for us. Then, I grew curious as of what else can they make for us. So we all started naming drinks to the waiter to make for us and funny thing, he know most of them. After 5 drinks, we were definitely feeling it and we thanked the waiter for being awesome and a good sport. I would definitely come back to this place next time I’m in Seattle and if he’s still working, would want him as our waiter again.

Staff is always friendly. My order is always right and Monday night Trivia is my favorite time to go!
Their happy hour menu/​prices are hard to be beat!

This place used to be a staple in the U Village. I hate to say it, but I think it has lost some. The bar area is not quite as active as it used to be and is no longer the go-​to place for games. They do still have their half-​off on Sunday nights which will always be a winner.
We had the appetizer sampler and some drinks here recently and the place was just off. First off, the lighting in the bar area was poor. Half of the lights were off and it was like they were trying to save money on electricity. This made the vibe not as good and the affected the viewing as well. they’ll always have my business and I have some great memories here, but it isn’t what it used to be.

I like to duck in here from time to time for working lunch breaks in the spacious back bar area – bring reading and do some editing while I grub and sneak peeks at soccer games on the TVs or what have you. The servers are super nice and welcoming, and they remember you from visit to visit.
The menu is reasonably diverse for pub fare. The quality of the food ebbs and flows, though… I’m one of those annoying pescatarian types, and some of the selections are pretty dependable. For example, the calamari is great and the salads are pretty solid (and the entrée-​sized salads are pretty big).
On the other hand, other things sometimes don’t quite get it done. For example, the housemade veggie patties are a little mooshy and weird tasting, and I recently got some pretty disappointing fish and chips… they were odd in that it was one very long piece of fish, as if it came from a barracuda or some such elongated species, and it was just about as greasy as could be. It left a heavy sheen on the paper… icky. The oil-​to-​fish ratio was Exxon Valdez-​esque.
But, all that said, I’ll keep coming back for the nice servers, the mellow lunchtime atmosphere, and the ability to get a bit of extra stuff done away from the office.

Great place! I little noise that’s way I took one star. But very good atmosphere.

The Ram is a nice bar right in U Village that makes for a convenient spot to catch a game, especially Washington University, or to take a break while shopping. The space is huge and the bar is immense. They have about 6 beers on tap always and 3 or so seasonal ones at any time. The Oktoberfest was excellent with ample malt. Service was pretty fast and very attentive at the bar. Nice to have some local brew in the middle of the shopping center.

Love this place but only for madness because that’s the only time I ever go.
Madness is every Sunday and it starts at 10pm either in the dining hall or the bar area for people over 21. The food and drink selection is decent in terms of variety although I always just end up getting the ribs. Normally 22 dollars is only 11 and yiu get fries coleslaw and some baked beans.
The beer and cocktail selection is pretty good I typically enjoy darker beers so their porter is really good worth my ribs. They have domestic beers if you aren’t feeling to adventurous. They also have their own beers which are really good.
Nice place to come pig out with your friends and very Uw themed so you kinda of feel like being back in college again. If you like ribs like me I would definitely recommend trying it here.

Good mood with a fancy interior and a nice service with tasty food! If you like to enjoy the sports with friends, then go inside of the restaurant.

I am a fan of their burgers here for sure! The burgers and fries were pretty tasty. I thought the service was pretty good. We went for a business lunch and it was a good place for two guys to talk business. It’s a bit of a loud restaurant, so try not to go there if you want to have a super serious conversation. My second time here was really fun, I went with a group of friends to participate in their game night. The topic was pop culture and I didn’t know a thing! It was fun none the less and I would come here with a group of friends for sure. The service is great here and I can see how it could be popular during game night. I think it would be a very rawty place for game night judging by the atmosphere.
My Personal Restaurant Rating Key
One star: the food was bad and I had a negative experience.
Two star: I had a more negative experience and would not come here again but the food was good so I may.
Three store: Everything is good except one thing. Example-​the food is good, the price is more reasonable but the atmosphere is lacking class. Or the food is good, the atmosphere is good, but they over charged us. These three stars are actually my favorite types of restaurants to go eat at if the reason is due to the atmosphere because they are usually delicious and reasonably priced.
Four stars: Everything is great, food and experience. However the price is definitely on the upper end. I would not recommend this first to Obama unless he didn’t like my five stars. These are restaurants you can take your boss or your mother-​in-​laws to impress them, however they still don’t fit into the five star category. A bit fancier than my three stars, hence I don’t often eat here unless there is an occasion for it or there is a groupon that gives me a bit of a discount!
Five stars: I would recommend this to Obama. The price may be on the upper end but the experience and the taste is so exquisite, it is actually worth every nickel and dime.

This place is not like it used to be. During college I came week after week for the Sunday madness happy hour, their only under-​21 friendly HH. The food was delicious, the prices were stellar, and the portions were large – perfect for a college student. Even when it got extremely packed and service was stretched thin, they were courteous and
Fast forward a few years and I’ve continued to patron this place every few months or so. But it has lost a lot of it’s magic: some of my favorite menu items are no longer served, the menu options are so diverse now its a bit overwhelming, and the service has been lacking and inattentive, even when it’s slow. When I go now, it’s simply out of convenience of location and hours.

The wait for the food seemed a bit too long, but the drinks were fast. We sat as this big group but the waitress was patient and attentive. We sat in the room with the UW football stuff so that was nice. Overall, the food was average and it was just okay experience.

We came by for some beers and snacks and a good time was had. It’s pretty much standard college bar food, but the beers are good.
We decided to get the sampler, called the beer curl. It also helps sponsor the US curling team! The beer curl was super fun, and was a good way to taste all their brews. I wasn’t a fan of the Big Red, which was pretty intense, but the other ones were good! I liked the Hefe and the 71 pale ale, and the Buttface (!!!) was pretty good. I guess I want to find out the origin of that beer name now…
Our server also recommended the beer cheese dip, and I’m glad she did! It came out as this little skillet of cheese with pretzels and corn chips with it, and it was AMAZING. The pretzels were soft and warm and the cheese was a great pairing with it.
I’m not a fan of sitting where I can get splashed by other customers (mostly kids) when they’re deciding to go for a paddle in the nearby fountain, but that’s one of the perils of sitting outside, I guess. It’s also not the restaurant’s fault. That said, be aware that if you sit outside and there are kids around, there’s a good chance you could get wet.
Service was good and prompt, and even though we were sitting outside (when most people were inside) we still got checked on regularly.

Trivia night here is really fun! Not sure if they host more frequently but I know their late night Monday trivia is great. The questions are diverse, some are crazy easy, and others are really hard. It starts at 10pm and lasts just under 2 hours. Benefits of late night? Plenty of parking and no traffic getting to U Village.
Food is of a comfort-​food type level. Nothing spectacular but everything’s tasty in an unhealthy but satisfying way. Chicken strips, burgers, fries, etc.
There are drink specials and during trivia they sell insanely cheap beer. I think it was like $ 3 for a cup the size of a jumbo Slurpee. Definitely worth a try.
Cocktails were meh. Lots of sweet stuff, lots of blended drinks, but also lots to order if you want something classic or simple. Service was attentive considering the crowd and prices were really reasonable.
