I went here three times with friends for breakfast over a period of four weeks. The Specials listed at the front were(1) the same every time,(2) actually on the menu, and(3) more expensive than the prices for the same item on the menu. The first time I ordered a Virgin Bloody Mary that took so long it was brought after the check arrived. The second time my food was cold. All three times, the server was unable to successfully divide the check at the end of the meal. We have no plans to return.

How I heard of this place: A good friend of mine, and a United States Navy Veteran raves about the Veteran’s Day deal(free breakfast) each year. This year, I had the opportunity to join him and our significant others for a Veteran’s Day breakfast. Type of cuisine: A diner with everything from country-fried steak on the breakfast menu, to hummus and pita bread, burgers, gyros, salads and pastas. Your all-in-one diner experience at the top of Queen Anne Hill. Ambiance: A neighborhood café, only slightly updated from the 1970s, with booth seating and chairs and tables, yellow walls and sparse décor. Comfortable, cozy and perfect for families! What I ordered: Knowing we had a full day of eating ahead, I opted for a simple Brown Sugar and Milk Oat meal($ 5.95). My husband selected the Denver Omelette($ 12.50) with diced ham, onion, green pepper and cheddar cheese, served with hash browns. Our dining companion chose from the Breakfast Special menu, the Huevos Rancheros($ 10.95) with hash browns. What I loved: Delightfully surprised by the oatmeal, I was pleased with the consistency and flavor. The bite of omelette I tried from my husband was tasty, but the perfectly crisped yet soft hash browns truly stole the show. Why I loved it: A simple and true neighborhood diner with less than that neighborhood prices. Cost: Average($ 10 — $ 13 per breakfast dish)

The breakfast was not good. The hashbrowns had absolutely no flavor. I got the blueberry pancakes and couldn’t taste the blueberries. It was also very dirty. Our table was sticky and had a few hairs on it. One star is for the location it’s a great place to walk around. We won’t be back.

This is my favorite brunch place in Seattle. It’s consistently delicious every time. Their waffle and egg combo meals are my go-to pick.

I’ve lived in Queen Anne for over 30 years and I keep hoping the food and service would improve especially since the renovation several years ago… Nope. Still disappointed. Food dried out, old browned fruit. Eggs dried etc. yucky.

I had the sandwich with sizzled beef, they first brought a lemon chicken soup that was surprisingly tasty and consistant then came the plate. There was a lot to eat and it was pretty balanced(vegetable, bread, meat, mashed potatoes) too bad it was white bread, not the best for a sandwich with meat coming with sauce, it got all moist … Other than that I ate pretty well, the vegetable on the plate was good and the mashed potatoes were just how I like them. All that for 13D which I think is pretty fair.

Service was fine, nice environment, but the food left much to be desired. One of the worst burgers I’ve ever had… definitely frozen beef and barely even cooked all the way through. Tasted like a school lunch. Will not be returning

It’s an ok place. Came in and was greeted a guy that I assumed is new because when we asked if they still serve the breakfast menu, he said, he has to ask. Anyway, I got the country fried steak. It’s pretty good. But nothing to write home about. One friend got the 3 meat omelet and she said it was ok. My other friend got the wonder bird I believe. The bread part was actually french toast, he found it a little weird that he had to eat separately. The bread and the«meat» part. And unfortunately he got stomachache after. We asked for the bill to be split. 2 bills on 1 card and 1 separately. They messed it up. They charged 3 of them in 1 card and still charged the other card for the other bill. So make sure to check your bill. All in all its a normal diner place. Probably wouldn’t come back tho.

One of the few places in Queen Anne you can get breakfast. Service can be spotty and slow at times so it’s hit or miss in that department. Eggs Benedict and home fries on my last visit were very good. As other reviewers have stated the coffee here just isn’t very good. There aren’t a lot of other choices for breakfast in this area so you may want to travel a bit further for more choices but for the most part it’s adequate and will do the job.

It’s your average dinner– decent food, decent prices, decent service. I got the California omelet and it was huge. The bacon, cheddar, tomatoes and avocado inside were intertwined with the egg– not folded in like some places. The good was good and just kept flowing. If you’re on the hunt for a breakfast that won’t break the bank, with family or hungover at night, this place will meet your needs. If I lived in Seattle I’d probably be a regular.

This place was fine, I’m these most basic food-in-belly-roof-over-head kind of way. It wasn’t anything special, but it did the trick. The service was fine, the food was nothing to write home about, but it did, I’m fact, feed us. Final verdict: I would go somewhere else in the area if I had a choice.

I have lived on upper QA for 8 years, before that 3 years on the South Slope. I have seen the Ave change greatly during that time; most of it good, some of it great. We moved to QA with our then 4 year old daughter because of the great schools, parks, walkability and community spirit. We are often walking out and about on the Ave.(we live 3 blocks away). It is fun to get out with the dogs and see what is going on. What really bums me out about this QA Café where the food is just OK is the mess in front of the entrance on a regular basis. How hard is it to sweep up all the cigarette butts and trash before you open the restaurant? Other businesses do. We will no longer go to this place until they clean up their act!

First of all, IT’S A DINER. Nothing fancy, nothing exotic– just fuel for your day. I’ve never had anything but breakfast here, but we have breakfast here frequently and it’s always been tasty and generous. It’s Queen Anne, so yes it is $ 12 for a big omelette and starchy sides and that shouldn’t surprise you(although I wish they took off a bit more than $ 1 when I order mine without any sides… and if they think they can raise prices even more and not lose regulars like us they are sorely mistaken). The best part of the place is ERIN! Erin is the server with the big smile and sunshiny disposition. The other servers are serviceable but nowhere as special and lovely as Erin. Tip her well!!!

No, you won’t find fancy or artisanal breakfast fare here. But if you want a standard and fairly-priced diner breakfast, this is a decent place to go. I had 2 large pancakes with bacon, sausage, and 2 eggs. It was tons of food for about $ 10. My pancakes certainly weren’t frozen, and clearly were freshly-made(despite what other reviews have asserted). There was no wait at 10AM on a Sunday. Its not anything incredibly special or mind-blowing but it was reasonably priced and tasty.

Visited again a cold night in Nov 2014. Had a wonderful Sirloin Steak dinner. It was delicious. My daughter loved the broccoli leak potato soup. This was my second time here and it was as i remember, very clean and everyone was very nice. Attended to our water and ice tea with out asking. Our meals were served quickly and were nice and hot. It was an early dinner like 4:30. So we were the only ones but it was rolling by the time we left. Parking is a pill though. But its Seattle its wonderful so you deal with it. Don’t tell anyone but i parked across the street in the Safeway parking lot. After your meal treat yourself to the glorious view from Kerry Park, its just down the street. We drove up from downtown Seattle to eat here. Terrific place. Go and enjoy!

A classic standby. While my client enjoyed her breakfast for lunch of Cinnamon Apple Waffles, I was able to devour my favorite Greek Salad(with Smoked Salmon, get the smoked salmon!). Their smoked salmon is fresh and PLENTY for another meal alone from the plethora of salmon. The Greek Salad is laden with feta cheese chunks, red onion, grape tomatoes, and fresh cucumber slices. The dressing is present and pleasant, without overpowering the fresh veggies. The service yesterday was really top-notch. Though it was filled with pre-game diners(first time we had to wait for a seat), the owner was cleaning his establishment and graciously asked to help my client by taking her plate back to cut the waffles for her(huge AWW moment). Great service and always good food. Adam the waiter was exceptionally patient and a true charmer.

Worst coffee and bad breakfast everything. Let me try to describe how massive a failure in coffee this is. Now when people say«dirty water» in reference to drip coffee that they get at substandard places, that they are exaggerating is implied. Not so here. At this establishment, everything is horrible mockery of easy food. Was it because someone was filling in for someone who actually knows how to cook things on the day after the drinking holiday? I should remember this occasion on times where I hesitate in my instinct to just straight up leave after tasting coffee where they decided that they can use a third as much coffee grounds(I’m only guessing at how you can screw up something as simple as boiled bean powder) in, I must assume, the thought that one will then maximize their profits. If I had left right away, I wouldn’t have been treated to the garbage fruit plate, the omelette of fake eggs, oil, and three times the cheese I would expect in a table-sized plate of nachos with a couple of chunks of veggies, and paired with undercooked potatoes and toast. All of which is top dollar, of course. This place is full of people eating garbage I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Ordering anything here with more advanced cooking requirements than bread in a toaster is a dire mistake. Have a salad if you find yourself trapped under something heavy here. It’s the only thing that looked good and, if their chicken was pre-grilled and out of a bag, you likely won’t notice.

Huevos rancheros was silly: scrambled eggs with chopped tomatoes, mushrooms, canned salsa and cheddar cheese served aside canned pinto beans with more cheese and a hashbrowns atop a pair of flour tortillas. Your nine-year-old child could prepare a more authentic version of this traditional Mexican favorite. Other breakfast selections won’t kill you, No waiting on weekends for breakfast. On par with 5 Spot, hashbrowns are kinda sucky. Clean and nice people work here. If the owner paid attention to food quality he/she could have a line out the door but instead the management of this establishment chooses to serve mediocre fare at inflated prices. Smoking is not permitted. hg

This is a decent and clean diner sort of place. Its nice you can order both lunch and breakfast. My girlfriend had breakfast and it was clearly better than the forgettable and uninspired burger that I had. I think(hope) perhaps this place shines more at breakfast with some of their specials. But if I was in the area again, I would seek to discover other places.

Service was friendly and the smoked salmon omelet was good — although I actually ordered the smoked salmon scramble. Our server actually offered to take the dish back to the kitchen and have them«chop it up since it was the same thing anyway». I declined. Only complaint was that we were seated in the very back booth right next to the bar — there was an employee who was constantly sorting silverware directly behind our table, which was loud and extremely disturbing during our meal.
