Ninja BBQ

Not positive the value is there, but service was quick and friendly.
Got a pork skewer, and it was savory and fresh. Skipped on the rice since we were already heading to lunch.
Give Ninja BBQ a try — can’t beat the convenience!

I am a big fan! The guy who runs the cart is super friendly and the food is tasty, simple, and convenient. $ 7 gets you two skewers of either chicken or pork or veggies and two scoops of sticky rice covered in a yummy teriyaki sauce. The smell coming from the cart makes it hard to resist, but you shouldn’t resist! It’s good!

While technically a cart, I still consider this to be mobile food because it’s not a bricks location. I’ve heard of the existence of Ninja BBQ for awhile. The social media presence is minimal so I haven’t taken the time to proactively try the food.
As it happens, I was in Ballard and spotted the cart at Bergen Place. I was excited!
I will absolutely, wholeheartedly agree that the owner is friendly. My enthusiasm ends there.
I bought a combo for $ 7 which includes two skewers and two scoops of rice. The rice (described as sticky) was no doubt sticky one day but by the time it got to me, the edges were hardened just like when you drop 5 grains on your counter. The gravy or BBQ sauce (and I have trouble calling it that) was starchy and mild in flavor, lacking any type of boldness, excitement, or… well, taste.
I got a pork skewer and chicken skewer. Both were comprised of tiny bits of well cooked meat and vegetables.
I’m sorry to say that I will not be returning to Ninja BBQ. My $ 7 is best spent somewhere else.

This place is a lifesaver when you’re in a rush. I was late to an appt, and parked right next to his stand. I quickly asked how long it would take to fulfill an order…30 seconds he said! Now that’s a timetable I can work with!
I like how he keeps it simple… chicken or pork kebabs with a side of sticky rice. No fancy sauces. but a side of sriracha? I’ll take it! This satisfied both me and the one year old in minutes.
The owner is also super friendly, and apparently you can catch him wearing his baby when the weather’s nice :)

This place I just ran into today while I was working in the Ballard area and I’m glad a gave it a shot. My tum tum was grumbling already and when I walked past it and had a sniff of the skewers? It was a done deal.
I ordered the combo and had one of each skewer, chicken and pork to go along with the sticky rice. I also opted for an apple juice to wash it down with. The meat was tender and tasty, I loved the rice as well which was moisty and sticky of course. The owner is really cool and keeps the area very clean and tidy. Great meal and plenty of food for $ 8 bucks. Hard to beat, I will be back for sure.
