I have never written a review before, but just had to write one after the horrible service i received here today! The owner was so rude(scrolled through the rest of the reviews and glad to see i’m not the only one who thinks so!) She kept rolling her eyes and was even whispering about me to the other cashier. Isn’t it the rule of thumb that you should never whisper in front of a customer for fear that it will seem as though you are speaking negatively of them? Never going back there again. She does not deserve my business!

I needed a quick lunch and saw Medi to grab a sandwich. Pretty decent selection of sandwiches on the sandwich board/menu. They do have a small sign with specials etc. Glad they have a case where you can see what the sandwiches look like so I decided to get the turkey reuben panini. Good sized sandwich, toasted/pressed nicely, turkey was good, sauerkraut(sp) was tasty, with a good melty cheese. Came with a side of russian dressing for dipping. I decided to get the combo deal that came with a bag of chips & drink, all for about $ 12. As mentioned in other reviews, the line starts at the back on the Rainer Square Bldg side, not off 4th where you walk in. Its a little confusing but the lady at the counter was nice enough to grab my attention to help me pick out a sandwich. The staff was fine, no issues, a decent amount of tables, didnt see a whole lot of sweet items like cookies or any treats, but I did see 1 baklava which I didnt get. Since its close to where I work, may swing back again to try out some other sandwiches.

So I tried this place one more time as its very close to my work– their sandwiches are great! very tasty, classic crusty bread which I enjoyed thoroughly! the last time I was here the owner was not so pleasant however after returning, the staff all seemed to be very friendly– they assisted customers that were waiting in line but I would still recommend that they have more signage indicating where the line starts and where it ends/you pay. clients seemed to continuously have much confusion over this process. I am editing my response and adding a star based on the recent service. I hope that the owner realizes how important customer service is when there are so many options within this large city but overall this can be a great place — just try not to catch the owner on a bad day.

I didn’t think this place was horrid but the falafel pannini was not attractive or flavorful. the tzatziki tasted rancid the sandwich was premade and didn’t know how long it had been sitting there the veggies were soggy and not too fresh tasting. def would not go again

This place has yummy food, but you definitely have to get there early as what you see out, is what they have. I agree with the other people who have questioned why they even have a menu. I suppose at least you know the food is fresh. The people who work there are very friendly, although it is confusing when there are are a lot of people in there as it’s not a very big place, and the line for ordering can be a little disorganized. The pasta salads are great though!

The set up of this sandwich shop is so confusing because the start of the line is towards the back of the store. Remember the best way to order is to order what you see in the window. I’m not sure why there is even a menu because every time I ask for something from the menu, the answer is «we are out or we aren’t serving that today.» Best picks for me here are the Primo sandwich on roasted focaccia bread dipped in balsamic vinegarette, Cesar salad and the Chopped Salad. This place is a bit pricy but they remember your favorite picks and sometimes your name!

I love Medi! I probably go here twice a month and I always receive friendly service and great food. I’m baffled by comments about the«rude owner» because I’ve never experienced or witnessed anything remotely like that. My personal fave — half Misto panini and horiatiki salad. So good! It does get busy after noon so try to arrive early.

Quiet little café with great service. Nice place to enjoy a nice toasty sandwich and people watch.

It’s the place to hit before 12 or after 2 – anytime in between and you’re just asking for trouble. It’s crowded for a reason; they offer a wide spread of lunch sandwiches, salads, and sides. And they have specials that I don’t usually realize until after I’ve ordered – to watch for that. The staff is friendly, the food is a nice break from the norm, and a sandwich and chips will run you about $ 10, which is maybe a buck or so above average, but I think the food is more interesting than your average sandwich shop.

Wow that Korean owner is so rude! She raised her voice at me for customizing the sandwich even though I was willing to pay extra. Then she gave her employee who made my sandwich the evil eye. Turned around and said aloud to me, «this time I will let you have but don’t order like this again because sometime were busy and adding different kind of vegetable causes delay in line during rush hour.» Seriously? How about I take my business elsewhere.

This used to be alot better several years ago. I ordered the very expensive French Dip today(8.51 with tax) and I make way better at home. This is flavorless roastbeef, on flavorless bread with flavorless cheese. the Au Jus is tap water mixed with brown color; there is no hint of flavor. I won’t go back because it’s not worth the price.

I came here because I was tagging alongside my co-worker. I needed lunch and he said he was going to his«regular spot.» I ordered the fallafel sandwich which came with tzatziki sauce. When I first opened the sauce, I noticed there was a film of oil on top and thought it was a little creepy. I dug in anyway. I had half the sandwich first and it was pure amazing-ness. It was the best fallafel I had ever had. I was so full after the first half, I put the second half away for later. Later came and I pulled it back out. The tzatziki sauce looked even oilier but thinking how delicious it was last time, I ate it anyway. Ugh. I felt so gross after 2 bites. Everything just tasted oily, heavy and it sank like a rock in my stomach. It took me three tries to finish this sandwich and it didn’t taste good after the first time and didn’t feel good for hours afterward. On top of this sandwich making me feel crappy, like everyone said, this place is pricy and it was annoying that all the vegetarian sandwiches did not come in half portions and the meat ones did. We want small portions too! If I only bought half of this sandwich and ate it in one go, I probably would have rated it higher than 3 stars… just sayin’…

Lately, I’ve been all about European sandwiches. Unlike over-the-top, boring, sometimes greasy American sandwiches, Euro-wiches are wonderfully simple, intensely flavorful, and unique. Today, I passed by Medi on my way back from the Seattle public library, and saw a nice, quickly moving line and a huge deli counter filled to the brim with freshly made artisan sandiwiches. Yum. Got an «emilia», which is some sort of cured salami, provolone, and roasted red pepper on a foot-long skinny french baguette. They even toasted it for me. Sexy. It was so good, I killed it on my ten-block walk back to my worksite. Fresh, warm, crispy, light. I wish it was closer so I could splurge on tasty Euro ‘wiches all the day long day.

If you are looking for a little bit of variety downtown give this place a try. the ladies working there are always friendly and get your order placed quickly. even being pre-made the sandwiches do taste good. it’s a good option if you want something quick and extremely filling but not a good option if you are a vegetarian it really is a little too pricey for the simple sandwiches they offer, but worth it. I’ve had the vegetariano sandwich there twice(make sure you get balsamic on the side). wasn’t too impressed with the soups. they do run out of ingredients sometimes, so make sure to get there before 2pm!

I enjoy the variety Medi offers. Between their soups, salads, sandwiches, snacks and pastas(I really wish there was a word for pasta that starts with an «s»), there’s something for every appetite. My only issue comes with their inconsistent veggie options when it comes to soup. First World problems, right? I will say that they do have the best damn falafel I’ve managed to find in Seattle. It is full of flavor without being overwhelming and is the perfect balance between dry and mush. Some may cringe at the idea of spending $ 7-$ 8 for a sandwich, but after one of those(or a half sandwich/half soup), I’m stuffed ’till late evening’s dinner!

It’s soup, salad, and sandwiches. $ 8 sandwiches. Have it with a $ 3 drink and a $ 5 cup of soup. It’s a little bit fancy, but most of it is pre-made and been sitting around prepped for a couple hours. A semi-ok lunch can be yours for less than $ 20! How unique! The biggest appeal of this place that it could be somewhat fast to take away.

It’s overrated. If it was rated great that is! They are a regular deli, nice staff, but nothing special. For someone who doesn’t eat too much meat, they have way too many meaty sandwiches and only 1 veggie sandwich. I wasn’t impressed. It’s way too expensive for not being terrific.

This is going to be a good destination for sangwijiz(Chicago spelling). I came here on the recommendation of a coworker, and indulged in a spicy chicken chipotle sandwich. It was huge — came on a big focaccia type roll with some lettuce and cheese. A little spice in the chicken, although not a huge amount. The bread looked amazing, but wasn’t anything too special. All in all, pretty good, and definitely plenty of food. I definitely need to come back, and try some of the other stuff I saw in the case — big long baguettes filled with cappicola, smoked pork loin — even if what I’d had was terrible, I’d still be back to try some of those bad boys.

Vegetariano. Ve-ge-tar-i-ano… i believe that’s the spelling for the sandwich. Annnnd… oh heck, it started with Spana-something… the one with spinach and feta(?) cheese gooey filling in a toasted pastry thingy. Both were pretty nice. The Veg was darn good with eggplant and the toasted bread was just right; the balsamic was a great touch. A good display presentation of offerings and the cashier korean(?) was really cool and nice. And I dare say she has an AMAZING memory of regular customers’ orders. «Turkey– sir?» «Nope.» «What?! [Something different?]» She seemed like a, oh how should i say it, «perfect fit» for what she was doing. Just a cool/homey energy she seemed to emit. The window bar table’s a lil loose ’round da edges. A nice condiment table set in neat baskets. I’ll. Be. Back. *checks off list as another regular lunch spot*

I wish it hadn’t taken me two years to finally go to lunch at Medi. This was recommended to me by a coworker ages ago! Anyways, this is a great lunch place — though I don’t see anything particularly Mediterranean about it. I mean it’s got a few items you won’t find in a standard deli, but also many things distinctly un-Mediterranean(including the employees). But I digress… On my first lunch trip here I got the chipotle chicken sandwich. They happily removed items I didn’t want and grilled it up for me. It was DELICIOUS and also enormous so I had another half to eat later. The vegetarian in the group got some sort of caprese sandwich and she enjoyed hers as well. The last coworker got something with meat, can’t remember exactly and darn it there’s no online menu, but let’s just say everyone left happy. We even shared a Baklava for dessert, I think it was under $ 3. Last week I ate here with a fellow Unilocaler. I had a turkey sandwich on a baguette with vinaigrette. It was good but not as great as the chipotle chicken. He had a sandwich and soup and appeared to enjoy both. One minor complaint: why o why does Medi carry Cherry Coke Zero but not regular Cherry Coke? For shame! This isn’t the cheapest lunch spot around and you don’t get a side of any sort with the sandwich, but the sandwiches are good, fresh and big enough to make two meals, so I’d say it’s worth it as an occasional splurge. Looks like all sandwiches can be ordered grilled or cold. Also, they are premade, which speeds up the process, but also means your coveted sandwich may be out by the time you get there. There are a variety of pasta salads which I fully intend to try on my next trip. I’ll be back Medi, I’ll be back!
