Not bad, I got the Triple cheese with bacon & tomato. The sandwich was petite & it came with chips or baby carrots. I’d recommend one more option for the side. But overall OK. I want thrilled but I’d eat here again. I like the environment & they were clean. Good Coke mixture on the dispenser. The only downside was that it took 15 min to make the entire order, so not the fastest if you’re in a hurry.

The Taste Bar is my favorite spot downtown to eat lunch. Working downtown, I seriously look forward to going when I get a chance during the week and think about what I am going to order throughout the day. I absolutely adore the Turkey and Muenster Panini(the pickled onions and dijon mustard create such a unique and delightful flavor). The salads are really great also but order these only if you are looking for a lighter-fared lunch– they are not huge. I notice that others have complained about the décor but quite honestly I have never thought that. As far as the staff is concerned, I could not be more impressed. Mirna, Roberto, Mary-Ella, Larry are all truly fantastic!

For a café for on the go food and a decent drink inside a department store this isn’t too bad as long as you don’t get any meals here. The staff is friendly enough. I did grab a drink just so I could use their bathroom but other than that this place is kinda pointless since there are so many other cafes within walking distance.

I had been seeing this place for a while and intended to stop in and try it. Taste bar makes you think everything will be tasty. Food wasn’t bad but for my $ 9 I’d rather hit up Nordstrom’s café. When I entered the counter person shouted to the 2 of us looking to order that we needed to move to another register. Fine, but did you need to shout? Then they were out of their featured Oktoberfest sausage potato soup — at 12:40pm on a weekday. For my Arnold Palmer the man gave me a half full cup of lemonade and pointed me to the tea at the fountain machine. It’s a signature item on their menu, so odd that this is how they serve it. My sesame mandarin salad had random cuts of bacon in it — shouldn’t be in this salad. Then they gave me a slice of good bread with my chowder/salad combo and I had to go back and ask for butter. The second person filled two coffee orders before fetching my butter and shouted back to me: one or two? Really? Is there a shortage on butter? And there are no plastic knives out, since they are cheap so I spread my butter with the back of my spoon. I was too tired to go back again and bother the employees. The bread and chowder were the best parts to this meal. Overall not terrible tasting but wonky in execution as Macy’s tends to be.

This place does not get the right credit. My guess is for their décor and services. You walk up to the counter, order your thing, go find a place to sit, and they will either call you or deliver to your table. The décor is worn and tired and services polite but slow. The foods arrived and you had a bite. You then realized why this dingy hole is still operational. It was tasty. You made a note to self: list this as a hidden gem of Seattle. Macy really should have paid more attention to this place and manage it up to rival Nordstrom Café. Come to think of it, their food services are pretty much on-par with the rest of the store. Oh well.

Food was decent, but the service was exceptional. We waited a bit longer for one of the sandwiches and found when it was delivered it was the wrong one. Not only did Shari apologize profusely but insisted on reimbursing us for the sandwich(the rest of us were already done eating) and made the sandwich we really ordered quickly.

Food is decent(I like the chicken chili) and the staff are friendly, but this place is consistently understaffed! The manager responsible for setting staffing levels is doing a disservice to the customers AND the employees. In the middle of downtown your customers are hardly a captive audience and we can go elsewhere. Bottom line: It’s a café, not a full service restaurant! It’s not acceptable to make customers wait in line for 10 minutes to order averagely decent SOUPS and SANDWICHES and then wait another 15 for the food to come out. Especially when«to go» is an option. Again, it’s not the employees’ fault, I see them working hard…

Friendly staff but the breakfast sandwich was terrible. Paperthin bacon, reheated eggs, flavorless cheese. No thanks!

Never realized Macy’s had a coffee bar extension. I’m only basing this review on a cup of coffee to start an afternoon’s list of walking destinations, but since the word Café occurs in its name, I consider that grounds(no pun intended) for a review. Staff and clean, open dining space were fine. The coffee was only lukewarm when we got it and reminded me of a strange fusion of Dunkin Donuts and 7-Eleven. Not good.

I’ve been a few times and the staff is always so sweet and nice. There peanut butter cookies are freakin good. There sandwiches are pretty good too. I didn’t expect much from this place but I definitely would go again.

Try the Cuban here. I ask them to give me some balsamic onions on the side instead of pickles. Ask for Hawaiian BBQ chips w/your sandwich.

It may be tempting to try the food here, since you’re shopping/doing business in the area anyways… but I wouldn’t risk it. I like Macy’s but they really shouldn’t have tried to create a deli-version of the Nordstrom Café. First off, there are no bathrooms in this café. You have to re-enter the shopping center in order to use the restroom, so if like me, you think you’ll get a reprieve from the shopping mania, grab a bite to eat, then use the restroom. Welp. Out of luck. I was glad that the prices weren’t exorbitant, because the pistachio chicken sandwich while completely edible, wasn’t great – and it was small. I substituted carrots for the side and received 8 dried-out, whitish baby carrots. It was as if they rooted around in Peter Rabbit’s food recycle bin. I say Peter Rabbit because there was also a nice hair on the carrots too – or fur – it was hard to tell. Sometimes, on a «Meh, I’ve had better» review, I would say to give it a try anyways; after all, my taste/experience won’t be the same as yours, but if you have eaten with me before, you’ll understand that I mean it when I say, «Pass on this program.»

It seems like every time I come to this place, the menu is changed. We showed up close to 1:00 on Monday afternoon and were able to step right up to the line. Not many people in here after the lunch rush, so I thought we’d be able to grab a quick bite before heading back to the office. NOT. Orders were placed at 1:04 according to the receipts and our food did not arrive until 1:20. I had my heart set on a Cuban sandwich, but was told they didn’t have any pork. Plan B: Chicken Salad Wrap for $ 5.85. Didn’t come with chips so had to buy them separately — $ 1.10 for a tiny bag. Friends ordered the turkey and cheese panini and the pepperoni pizza. About midway through our wait, the cashier approached to tell us there were no balsamic onions and would regular ones suffice. I saw the pizza go into the oven, heard the timer go off, and told my friend to go fetch it himself because it didn’t seem like the staff were in any rush. The food was so so, and nothing memorable. Probably would have been better off going over to Westlake.

Exactly what you’d expect from a café attached to a department store.

I’ve been here 3 different times with a different experience each time. The 3rd time was probably what will make me not come here again. I ordered a chicken caesar salad, as I have each time that I went. They sell a turkey caesar salad, but the girl let me know I can substitute the turkey for chicken, so that’s what I asked for. 5 minutes later, I’m given a chicken salad caesar wrap. When I told them that’s not what I asked for, the guy proceeds to tell me that I confused him by saying I wanted chicken and that he thought I meant the chicken wrap. Uhmmm… What? Unless I say wrap, why would you assume that’s what I’m asking for? This place has salads and wraps so if the two are easily confused, it should be THEIR job to clarify it seeing as how I’ve said what I want already, correctly. When taking back the wrap that I didn’t ask for, the guy asked me if I wanted a different type of chips since he gave me original. I asked for the spicy BBQ chips and he told me no problem. I was then given a bag with my caesar salad in it… AND sour cream and onion chips. Again… WHAT?!! How do you get sour cream and onion chips in your head when all I said was«SPICYBBQ»!!! I then checked to see if my extra side of caesar dressing was in my bag and it wasn’t. I stood there for a bit more and the girl who was working rudely asked me, «Was there something else you needed?» Besides you not f#c%ing up my order anymore? YES! I want my extra side of dressing! Geez… I understand it gets busy, but just because it’s busy doesn’t mean your ears need to shut down. I understand a mistake but when there’s that many and you’re giving me stuff that doesn’t even sound like what I asked for, then there’s a problem.

Get a quickie — sandwich, coffee, pastry as you stroll downtown. Everyday you can get a snack for $ 1. On that day I got a ginormous rice krispie treat. It was like a brick of sugar but o’ so tasty. I had a coffee and a yogurt parfait. The person I was with got the tuna melt and liked it. Lots of seating and you can watch all the happenings of the neighborhood(good and bad).

How this place has a 4 star rating is beyond me. It’s just what you’d expect to get… a department store coffee shop, nothing more, nothing less. Straight up 3 stars, no questions asked.

I’ve been here twice and ordered the same thing both times — a tuna melt. The first time, the tuna melt was amazing. It was crispy, super hot and in short, something I craved for a week. Last time I came though, the tuna smelled rancid. Bringing it to work to eat was embarrassing and I didn’t even want to carry it because it smelled worse than cat food. When I opened it up, the bread was soggy, it wasn’t very crispy or hot, and the tuna tasted too fishy and not good at all. Total disappointment. Furthermore, the tuna melt is pretty small. I’m usually full after half a sandwich, but I can finish the entire tuna melt and still want more. For $ 8, I expected a little more than that. I also don’t like the Tim’s potato chips on the side and for being«gourmet», you think they’d have slightly better chip. I did, however, get a rice krispie treat add on for $ 1 last time I was there. That rice krispie treat was huge and gooey and delicious. Next time I want a sandwich, I’ll probably go to Specialty’s.

Taste Bar & Bakery is owned by Macy’s. The supplementary convenience café has it’s own store-front and an inside entrance. The menu is simple with a few sandwiches, soups, salads, tea, coffee and drinks. The Tuscan Chicken Salad with ice tea made a delightful lunch order. They served it up in very chic plastic dishware. It was made with napa cabbage, radicchio, kalamata olives and shredded grilled chicken in a coarse grain mustard dressing. This salad was full of garden-fresh flavors and the olives did not carry that usual sharp tang. I highly recommend Taste Bar and shopping at Macy’s. Their Tuscan Chicken Salad made my top favorite salad list. And the ice tea orders comes with free refills. Also, the people that work there are really friendly.
