Everything was good. Service was fast and friendly. Food worth money in receipt

Food here is pretty good. It does remind me of the food that I had on vacation on the big island. Servers are always friendly and really like family oriented environment. I definitely keep coming back here and don’t plan on stopping. Nice neighborhood spot.

Kona Kitchen is a pretty decent restaurant. The ambience was nice and our waitress was super friendly. The food was only average though. I ordered the loco moco, my friend had the loco moco with fried rice, my sister had the diamond head with Portuguese sausage, and we shared a couple spam musubis. For my loco moco, there was not enough gravy and the beef patty was a little dry. I’ve been to Hawaii before and the musubis here in no way compare with the ones in Hawaii. There was not enough sauce and the rice to spam ratio was too high. Overall though, I would come here if I needed to satisfy a Hawaiian food craving, but otherwise, I would probably go somewhere else as my first choice

Yum! Fantastic experience here — great food, relaxed atmosphere, just a good solid family-friendly diner with rad customer service. We took our in-laws from out of town here for a fun breakfast and they were impressed. I recommend the Diamond Head plate(amazing french toast) and upgrading to the Portuguese sausage. I’ve also had the Kimchi Hawaiian Fried Rice and it’s soooo delicious. If you want to get a cake slice of your choice, come earlier in the week than later.

We came here for breakfast on the recommendation of my friend that resides in Seattle. If he didn’t tell me about this place, I would have never found it. The ambience is a little 80s but it seems to go with the Karate Kid theme that they are representing. Makes sense since the owner was in the movie. Everything at the breakfast buffet was delicious, I ended up making 3 trips back and forth. All of the meats had excellent flavor and exceeded my expectations. I really enjoyed the fried rice and the French toast. The staff was very friendly and attentive. It’s always a good sign that the food is good when there is a long wait to be seated. I can’t wait to visit Seattle again and eat here.

Delicious mochi chicken! I am not Hawaiian, but have been there many, many times. The mochi chicken at Kona was fantastic. It brought back great memories of Hawaii. The mai tai’s were also spot on. Service was great. It was a little crowded, but we only had to wait about 5 minutes for a table. I would go out of my way to go there again.

Food: 3.5 Staff: 4.5 Ambience: 2 We tried the Loco Moco and Hawaiian style BBQ Chicken. Both were pretty good, but not the best Hawaiian food we’ve tried in Seattle. :) The staff were friendly, but we never got water refills :( Ambience: Not the reason why you’d come here. :)

The portion is good for the price. Flavor is okay. Ate there for dinner. Inner decorations pretty nice. Kalua pig is definitely a bit too salty. So I figured a new way to eat it with the mash potato: use the soup as gravy since they charge $ 1.50 for gravy… lol. Mochiko chicken is basically like fried chicken. Nothing special. A good surprise is that they had a choir there singing at the time on a Wednesday night. And it is so much fun with all the instruments and everything. That made my meal :)

Super fresh and light ingredients that’s somehow got a hearty comfort food flair. Got the chicken fried steak(10.79 $) and mochiko chicken(10.79 $) off their dinner menu. Both entrees of chicken were extremely tender and just fried enough to give that nice thin crispy outside. Flavor profile was much more standard and expected. Nothing was truly mind blowing. There’s also a slight reminder of chicken katsu both in texture and appearance in the chicken. However, there is definitely something for everyone here with quality and freshness in every plate.

Moved to the neighborhood months ago and after passing this place a bunch of times finally had to go in. Went for a late dinner on a Sunday night and the place was pretty quiet. Despite the muted atmosphere that evening our waitress was friendly, energetic and helpful in navigating the large menu. Started with some kalua pig quesadillas to start and the pork was pure ono. My only gripe is that the salsa served with the dish tastes like yucky jar Old El Paso or Tostitos salsa. The dish would benefit more from a mango peach salsa. Hint hint Kona Kitchen crew. ;) They serve breakfast all day and has tempting as breakfast was I went for the big kahuna moco loco with chicken katsu and fried rice. This plate is heaping and could have easily been shared with someone else but let’s be real– I’m greedy and gobbled that goodness up. I was up for sharing some delightfully tropical guava cake while singing guava jelly(if you don’t know references iTunes :)). I feel like this spot could be a regular for me and will definitely bring family and friends on my next visit.

Oh Kona Kitchen, if only you weren’t so far past all the BS Seattle traffic. I have no more reason to be going this far north since all the buddies have graduated from UW, but for you, I will occasionally make trips here. Kona Kitchen is the real deal when it comes to Hawaiian BBQ. I found out about this place from a friend of a friend who is also my friend so I guess I should have made it easier and simply just say my friend in the first place. HAHA. The only thing I’ve tried here is the Korean chicken meal. I’m not exactly sure if Koreans actually prepare their chicken this way, but it was breaded in some amazing seasoning that I can’t even explain how amazing it was so you are just going to have to try it for yourself and tell me how amazing you think it is. Here I go again. HAHA. You also can’t complete your order of going to a Hawaiian BBQ spot without getting a small side of macaroni salad, yum! Am I making your mouth watering yet? Tell me about your experience if you’ve been here or is going to after reading this review:)

Great place for American brunch and Hawaiian food in Maple Leaf! It’s packed here at times, so be prepared to wait for a table.

Come hungry. You will be FED. You won’t even have to pay much. No, seriously. I got a ton of kalua pig, macaroni salad, and rice for $ 9. My fiancé ordered Da Kanak Attack, which was a huuuuuuge combo plate of meats(mochiko chicken, teri beef, spam, and Portuguese sausage) with rice and macaroni salad for $ 12. It was all an insane amount of food! I thought the kalua pig was too salty, so I didn’t eat a lot of it, but Da Kanak Attack was a legit meal. I’d highly recommend it. It got pretty busy the Saturday we came in, around noon. There was a short wait at the door, but this place is a decent size and can accommodate quite a lot of people. Service was a tad slow, though. They kept forgetting to bring us silverware, and we waited for our bill forever. They probably should have a bigger staff during brunch hours. It’s a little dingy inside, and it’s not decorated in a sophisticated manner by any means, but it has good energy. Great for families.

So far I’ve only been here twice, but I love it here. The people are super friendly and attentive. They have a parking lot, but it does fill up. But, not to worry, street parking is usually easy to find. It’s Hawaiian comfort food at its best. Loco Moco, Kailua Pork, mochiko chicken, etc. Both times I got the Loco Moco with Fried Rice. The first time I posted a photo of it on Instagram, someone described the food as being enveloped in a warm blanket. And I have to agree. There is something comforting about this dish. It’s fried rice, it’s gravy, it’s a hamburger patty, and a fried egg. You really can’t go wrong. The second time I went and got the same thing… J said the same thing! Each time, of course, we ordered the spam musubi. Because you just have to. And it’s worth getting! The waitstaff is super friendly and attentive. I’ll definitely be coming back for more. And maybe trying something else off the menu. But maybe not. Because that fried rice loco Moco is something you don’t want to miss.

My favorite Hawaiian place in Seattle. I’ve been here a number of times and the servers are always friendly and inviting. The food is great, granted I’ve never eaten authentic Hawaiian food so I can only say so much, but this was pretty damn good. Any of their specials are pretty solid. Kalua Pork is a tad bit salty for me, but all my friends seem to really enjoy it. Loco moco with plain rice or fried rice is my go to. Just keep in mind when it’s busy, IT’S BUSY, wait times are long at that point and food can take forever. Either way, I love Kona Kitchen. Parking also blows, the tiny parking lot sucks, but there’s street parking everywhere.

Kona Kitchen is a nice and family friendly restaurant with good service and even better food! The place is bigger than I would have expected it from the outside and has this nice surfer-bar-style-look. When we arrived some group of friends and a big family, celebrating a baby childs birthday, were there and the atmosphere was quiet and pleasant. The menu offers something for every taste and we decided to go with the Hawaiian Plate and some Crab Puffs as appetizers. The Crab Puffs were hot and really good, crunchy on the outside, soft and creamy on the inside. Together with the sweet-hot sauce definitely a great stimulator — I want more! The Hawaiian Plate is big enough for two hungry people and offers many great tasting delicious goods! My favorite is the Kalua Pig! SOGOOD. And in addition to that: the prices are amazing, so you can come and eat here more often! :D Unfortunately they had no more cake, I have to test them the next time I’m here. Note: there is no alcohol on the menu!

Restaurant could use a good cleaning and updating. There is parking out back and on the street. Food: 6⁄10 Saimin soup — according to my guests the broth lacked flavor. Bbq pork included was decent, but not the greatest. Noodles were edible. Would not order again. CA omelette, pancakes and hashbrowns — pancakes were made quite well. Very fluffy and delicious. Guest said he would order this again. Chicken katsu, macaroni salad and fries. Plus a side of crispy hashbrowns. Chicken katsu meal was 12.95. In my opinion kind of on the pricey side. Over all katsu was crispy, but dipping sauce was very sweet. I would order this meal again. Hashbrowns were done perfectly when asked for extra crispy! Spam musubi — can’t go wrong with this item.

I wanted to love this place, I really did. A local girl relocated to Seattle– I miss my island food! And I had heard so many great things about Kona Kitchen, too. This was my first dine-in visit. Not being too hungry, I ordered the saimin. I was so looking forward to a hot bowl of broth with al dente noodles, and yum yums. Unfortunately, the hard-boiled half-egg was overcooked– the yolk was so pale it was bordering on sulfurous and the noodles were way, way too soft. :(I couldn’t even finish my bowl. It was a pretty big disappointment. My sister ordered the katsu loco moco with fried rice after seeing me get takeout a few months back. It’s huge portion with plenty for lunch the next day. She said it was good, but I remember feeling the combo of the katsu plus gravy plus fried rice overwhelmingly salty. I think I prefer loco moco and katsu with regular rice. Although I will say the katsu is cooked to perfection and the gravy is amazing.

Up until 6 months ago, I hadn’t been to Kona Kitchen in years. I couldn’t recall why I stopped going. After being back a few times, it all came back to me. I’m from Hawaii so I’m always looking for decent Hawaiian food. You’ll get that here. The portions are appropriate for the price. The flavors resemble some of my favorite local dishes. The service is good but nothing special. When calling in an order, the bags seemed quite generous. However, upon arriving home, they forgot an order but had graciously charged us for it anyway. After that, I didn’t want to go back but was outvoted by the rest of my family. Substitutions to the menu are not welcome. On my last visit, my kiddo wanted mashed potatoes instead of fries. I think it’s a restaurant’s choice not to allow substitutions but what happened next was comical. The server came out and told me they could substitute the fries, but only with starches, not mashed potatoes. Aren’t mashed potatoes a starch? We paid for a separate order of mashed potatoes. Imagine my surprised when it was made of potato flakes, you know, the kind out of the carton. I like those okay but I was taken aback. The mochiko chicken and korean chicken are fried and seasoned well. The mac salad is pretty good. A plus is the fact that they sell Cakes of Paradise goods there. Chantilly cake is my absolute fave! Decent portions and flavors make this an okay place to eat.

Havent been here since my first time living in Seattle, which was around from 05′-09! Geez! Now Im back, I can go everyday! This place is now bigger than I remember it, but mostly still the same with dining room up front, bar in back and karaōke at night. Came here for a late afternoon lunch/early dinner and there was no wait, place was pretty empty but still welcoming as can be. We decided to relive the memories of trying their popular dishes such as the Katsu Fried Rice Loco Moco. Delicious as ever! Fried rice was nice, chicken katsu was nicely breaded and freshly fried up, nice egg on top with that awesome brown gravy all up on it!!! Its a huge portion, and very hearty so you will definitely have leftovers. We also got the Mochiko Chicken plate: Very delicious as well! I like this style of fried chicken better than the katsu, little or no breading, dark meat, huge chunks, and just so tasty! Got a typical plate with rice & mac salad. Add a little hot sauce and you are good to go!!! Mac salad was pretty good as well, definitely could eat a tub of it on the couch while watching Monday Night Football. Portion for this was huge as well and will be requesting a doggy bag. We saved room for dessert and got the Haupia Cake(from Paradise Bakery), loved the coconut shavings on top, creamy, not overly sweet, good sized slice of cake and a perfect ending to a yummy meal! Overall, it is as good as I remember it! Service was great! Super friendly, welcoming, makes you feel at home when eating here. They make sure you have enough to eat, and believe me, you will have plenty to eat! Pricing is a little higher than what I was expecting but you get huge plates and it was delicious, so it’s worth it in my book.
