Jack Cellars

I wish I could give Jack Cellars more than five stars. I love this place and I love Jack, the owner. The wine selection is excellent and even though the beer selection is limited, I can always find quality beer. Jack knows his wine and I have never been disappointed with any of his recommendations. I frequent the shop twice a week and usually buy about two-​three bottles a week. There is always wine to taste and lots of love for my dog. Hands down the best wine shop in Seattle!

Love this place. The service is personal, Jack is friendly and knows his stuff… always makes you feel welcome. I personally LOVE the wine club, I get 2 bottles of wine once a month and get to try new stuff that I probably wouldn’t have tried otherwise. And it’s nice to be able to support a small business in the community… I like Jack.

I trust Jack to give me good advice on wines. He is a great guy, is very welcoming, and will always have something for you to taste. A lot of his customers are hanging out in the shop with him because he is so charming and pleasant. Good prices, and it is so nice to support a local business where the owner cares!

The moment I walked in, the owner was standing there with a glass of wine in his hand. Drinking on the job? I’m somewhat appalled, but more jealous than anything else.
Aside from the awesome selection of many varietals and rarities that you would come to expect of a great cellar, the owner answered my questions and then some. The thing about me is, I just tend to play 50 questions when it comes to wine. Luckily, I was dealing with the man who took the time and care. They also carry some Click Wines, which are my favorite.
I walked away with a Santa Digna 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon and boy let me tell you, I ended up drinking the bottle to the very last ounce. :-)

I need a bottle of a Vin Santo Italian desert wine. I have no idea what it is, what it tastes like, what an alternative is, etc. I’ve been to Whole Food’s lovely beer/​wine section. I’ve been to University Village QFS’s admittedly wonderful beer/​wine section. In fact, I’ve been to 6 beer/​wine «sections» including the State Liquor Board stores, and no one has any idea what I’m talking about. I’m in and out of Jacks in under 5 minutes not only with what I need, but at a price I expected and sold to me by a man that has sampled a few different Vin Santos and likes the one he sold me.
The environment struck me much more as a higher-​end wine specialty shop /​gallery and less «wine shop». The offerings are nicely displayed and not crowded; not as much stock as I had come to expect from my prior wine-​section travels. The wine-​tasting table seems to be always open, and indeed had a few smiling people taking advantage of the samplings. I was pleased that the environment wasn’t stuffy; nice staff and we weren’t all running around in a museum-​like hush. I’m not really a «wine guy», so the best I can say about their selection is that they had what I was looking for, and the person who went with me (he’s more a wine guy) had looks of glee on his face at almost every turn.

Saturday night tastintgs at Jack’s almost always hold surprises for wine lovers. Whether its vertical, horizontal or whatever, the tastings are thoughtful and interesting enough to usually inspire me to buy one of the bottles. Wines range from the inexpensive to the rare. Jack provides an excellent selection, as a highly knowledgable owner who visits vinyards regularly to taste the next vintage coming in. You can hardly go wrong with Jack’s selections and recommendations. Supporting high quality local businesses such as this one is a pleasure – one I plan to continue.

This local wine shop is always a pleasure to visit and a great place to grab a «wee taste o’ the nectar.» Jack’s prices are fair and he’s one of the most personable shop owners I know. I couldn’t ask for anything more out of my local wine store and I’ve always got something new and interesting to share with my friends.

Yay! A nice wine store in my neighborhood! And, free wine tastings are offered every Wednesday and Saturday afternoons!
The proprietor was very nice and chatty, and was very willing to provide recommendations in a friendly and unpretentious manner. I was pleased with the selection of bubblies and Bordeaux. Also, if you’re looking for a way to save and sample some varieties, Jack Cellars offers monthly specials on two or four bottles a month to customers who sign up for this deal.
I look forward to spending many afternoons sampling wines and cheeses.

This is an awesome wine shop. Under new ownership again… I think this guy gets it! Jack is energetic and passionate about all kinds of wine.(Not just the $ 50 bottle). There is no snobbery here! The inventory has more than doubled since Jack took over. And if you don’t check out his free wine tastings… well ‚…you will be missing out on an opportunity to taste and learn what great wines are out there just waiting to be opened and enjoyed. I am glad he took over this neighborhood wine shop.
