Supercool bartender, great booze and beer selection, straight forward zero-expectations drinking hall. Watch out for the veteran drinkers though– they’re extra friendly

Fun dive bar with lots of space. There are some games all over the place. We had our own little area for playing darts at the front and that was very fun. The bartenders were friendly and I really like that they leave water and cups on the bar for people to take for themselves. There are also free peanuts! They were playing hip-hop oldies all night, I really enjoyed it.

Had parked next door for a Mariners game, stopped in after a win! Lots of taps, great service & dog friendly! Didn’t try the food, had peanuts, complimentary! Lots of wide open space.

OK we randomly came across this place before a concert at the show box… We know what concerts the drinks are usually expensive so we decided a local bar would be best. The vibe of the place is amazing. I really liked that it’s one bar but two sections and completely different vibes in both. The front of the bar really had that punk rock feel to it, playing some great music from the sex pistols and even some new music. I really like the peanut shells everywhere the bartenders are awesome drinks are cheap. The back seemed more business people after work getting a drink I thought that was pretty cool to see in the same bar. I saw they had food I think people had food in front of them not really sure if they brought it in themselves or you can order up at the bar didn’t see a menu anywhere.

Wonderful bar to get a drink at if you’re in the SoDo area. I love the décor inside. Peanuts to snack on. Throw the shells on the floor.

Great place for a pre-funk prior to a game or show. They have also expanded and have another bar in the back. Good drinks… stick with the drinks… and peanuts.

This is going to be my new game-day tradition. A fantastic dive bar. The staff is kinda harried, the seats are worn down & the peanut shells are everywhere. $ 22 for 3 shots of Jack Daniels. Great vibe, love a good dive. (also, my friend was happy to know they sell cigarettes)

We had some time before a baseball game and I have walked by this place wondering, so we tried it out and glad we did. They do not serve food but the service was great. I had the porter and we were given a sample of the Ace Pear cider which turned out to be a great choice. We now have a good spot to go to before or after a game.

I came on a recommendation from a friend. Stupid expensive bar. I bought two beers after a Sounders game and the total came to $ 24 dollars. That’s $ 12 bucks a beer. Don’t go here! The bar isn’t bad, but it’s nothing special. Nothing to warrant $ 24 dollars + tip worth. I’ll never darken their door based on price alone. Everything else was like a normal bar. Dark, decent music, big buck hunter and skiball.

Doesn’t get any better. Just the right mix of great bartenders, music, beer selection and a great mixed cocktail when you tire from the beer… bar snacks too.

There’s something so fun about a place you can throw your peanut shells on the ground! Big ups for the free peanuts, accessible water, and cute bartender. The beer and boardgame selection was great, making this a good spot(and not too crowded) to hang out before a show. It’s not the swankiest spot in the world and I wouldn’t add it to your list of places to take a date, but Hooverville has a good vibe.

I’m here about once a month, thanks to working nearby, and I’m not complaining at all! The standout of this place is the service. Even when they’re slammed, the bartenders always take the time to connect, get your order right, and smile. The beer selection is definitely #2. The wine is hit or miss, but they have over a dozen taps, always, with a variety of local craft and large-label beers(including, blessedly, always at least 2 stouts on tap!). They have bottomless peanuts for crunching and just throw the shells on the floor, which is fun but I do wish they had at least a few more food options.(Yes, they do have a few pizza flavor options, which are great if you’re already drunk, but a bit too reminiscent of my poor college days otherwise). Overall, it’s one of my favorite bars, even when it’s crowded and we have to fight to get a table. Definitely better than the so-called sports bars and yuppie watering holes elsewhere in SoDo.

Friendly service, great beer selections and an awesome two player pinball game made this a great bar. I will be making this a regular spot before heading over to a Mariners game this summer.

Good: Spacious, nice atmosphere, clean enough. Good selection of draught beers. Friendly bartender. Well-stocked bar. Infinite peanuts, salted-in-shell. It’s a good hangout-with-friends place, NOT a sports bar. This is a plus for me. Bad: The pizza is average(being generous here). Once place starts getting busy, around 6PM, the one bartender is overwhelmed, it takes quite a while to get her attention. Shitty country music most of the time, definitely a minus, anywhere. Keep that audio sewage in Jeebusland where it belongs.

Never watch a hawks game here!!! Terrible small funky colored TVs and slow service where the bartenders hangout with security staff. TVs are smaller then I’ve ever seen in a sports bar!

My favorite«hole in the wall» bar in Seattle. It’s not exactly low brow, but the drinks are stiff to say the least, the bartenders are hot in a «not interested in a dude like me» kinda way, you get to throw peanut shells on the floor, and pee into a trough filed with ice. Perfect!

Came here after a birthday party on a Saturday night around midnight. It was not a game night so the bar was almost dead. But we heard it sold/made pizza late and we were all hungry so we had no complaints. I called the order in, in advance, and the pizza came out warm and a perfectly toasted crust. Fair size 10−11″ pizza for $ 12. I had pepperoni sausage and it had a fair portion of both meats as well as cheese. Maybe I was tipsy but I thought the pizza was quite satisfying. A friend bought our drinks, so I’m not sure how much they cost. But it’s a dive bar so I’m assuming prices were fair. I think they also have a little arcade game section. Definitely your standard dive bar(with vinyl booth seating and writing all over the bathroom stalls) but a good sized bar with lots of tables. I would humor coming back again if I was in the area. Service was solid — the girls working were super chill and one even let us charge our iPhone at the bar when it was running out of battery.

YThis is my favorite place to hang out before the doors open at the Showbox SoDo. They provide free peanuts that you can toss on the ground, the space is open, the drinks are stiff and prices are average. The pizza is the only food that they have and it’s $ 12 for an entire pie. OH… the bartender was hilarious! I asked him if he had any specials, he replied with«Nope, just me!» Hahaha. I really enjoyed myself here as I am a dive bar lover. It’s clever to have a place for concert goers to stay warm while waiting for concerts.

This is a wonderful dive bar that was perfect for some strong drinks before(and during) a show at the Showbox Sodo across the street. Drinks were reasonable($ 6 for a well vodka soda and whiskey ginger), bar service was quick, and the shelled peanuts paired very well with our drinks. We’re not often in Sodo but I’d definitely come back to Hooverville.

After watching the Oakland Athletics beat the Mariners a group of headed out to Hooverville bars in South Seattle This is the kinda bar with peanut shells on the floor and PBR(Pabst Blue Ribbon) pouring. I just found out that Pabst sold out to the Russians. Hooverville has approx 12 beers on tap, plus bottles of the local brews and there shots are really generous. Another shot of Jameson’s please. I didn’t see any food menu or people eating so I assumed there was none. One pool table and four pinball machines. This is a great local bar for after the baseball and football games.

Divey little spot across from the Showbox SoDo complete with cheap brews & shelled peanuts. I’m usually not into dives, but this is definitely a step up from dive. Nice bartenders, great drink specials($ 6 for a shot of well bourbon & a rainier/coors/etc). Believe it or not, the pizzas are pretty tasty(this was a pleasant surprise!). Try the Greek pizza & some pinball. All in all, a great little spot, I’d go back for sure!

This place is the epitome of a dive bar. It’s fantastic. It’s not far from my work and is the«go-to» place for a post-work happy hour. The place is sketchy but it’s supposed to be. They have really cheap, strong drinks, and the staff is really friendly and do a great job of keeping on top of drinks and clearing the tables. Love the free peanuts. Why do they taste so much better when you can throw the shells on the ground? Great before a Mariner’s Game or before a concert at the Showbox.

I think most people wander in here thier first time due to proximity to Sounder Games and SoDo Concerts and then you are hooked. Hooverville is a long time staple in SoDO and a casual lively bar with free peanuts, shells on the floor and pinball in the corner. Usually a good variety of music playing in the background somewhere too. The reason I keep coming back is the staff is knowledgeable about thier beer and spirits. The serve a great selection of microbrews on tap as well as infused liquors. The bartender made me a nice bloody mary here. They serve fast and percise even when busy! I saw pizza but I did not try it. Friendly, professional, sporty, casual downtown yet homey bar that everyone fits in here and I like it! Cheers!

I’ve never been here. But I’m at the JoCo TMBG concert across the street and they let me park in their lot for free. And they did it in this cool, salt of the earth way as if Tom Robbins wrote the bar into Seattle Yay
