As a man who cares very much about high quality clothing and is willing and able to spend what it takes for it, I appreciate the very few options available here in Seattle. I went into this establishment with quite high hopes, especially after it was recommended by a friend who owns and operates one of the other few hight end clothing boutiques for men in Seattle. Within two minutes it was clear that I was not welcome – either due to race(always a concern in Seattle, believe me) or because I was new(it could be one of those places that only cares for its core customers) I stood there while the gentlemen who worked there(one was the owner) just looked me up and down(I was dressed well by the way…) and seemed to just hope I would go away. Eventually one came up to me – but it was too late. Perhaps I caught them at a bad time but seeing other reviews and hearing from other people who’ve been there only confirms what I felt.

To be clear: I’m speaking as someone who wanted a complex alteration, not custom clothing. I had a suit that needed to be altered not insubstantially(reset sleeves and some smaller stuff). I was quoted $ 500. I know this guy is supposed to be great, but I know that the cost to do what I wanted was not the price I was quoted. So to be clear, they say they welcome clothes from other makers, but I must say that I didn’t get that feeling whatsoever. Maybe he’s the best there is, but my experience certaintly didn’t reflect that. As a side note: I’d expect the kind of alterations I needed to be(at most) half what I was quoted.

I am speaking for the customer service, true tailoring ability, and ability to alter garments. Right off the bat I was treated as a second class citizen from the salesperson, because I wanted to get a casual blazer edited. I have only taken my alterations to Tailors who custom make garments as they usually can reconstruct garments based on their knowledge. My last tailor was a Master Tailor with 40 years of European classical training, and all of my tailors are from or have been trained in Europe. I studied fashion design at Central Saint Martins in London, I have custom suits from Savile Row, I know Tailoring, This Is Not It. This«salesperson» and an man who probably is the one who does the work start telling me that because the garment is cotton I will see stitch marks, when all the edits I want done are to take in dimensions. Essentially, they didn’t want to do an Alteration, and should have stated so. The Website says they welcome complex alterations, boy I felt welcomed. They seemed like despite the appearance of a professional establishment, their knowledge was amateurish. The salesperson who was wearing baggy pleated suit pants, and a blousy, ill fitting dress shirt, and a sloppy adjusted tie told me «your throwing good money at bad» and«our suits start at $ 2K.» Like I’m supposed to be impressed, when I have suits that are 5 Times their base. This place is always empty, an unheard of establishment, and it’s an insult to people who love garments for this business to be associated with Tailoring. If your into the 80’s, I’m wearing my dad’s suit, ill-fitting, pleated, huge lapel, zoot suit this place is for you. If you want someone who knows fitting, garments, and tailoring GOSOMEWHEREELSE, I DID, VERYQUICKLY!
