Came here for the first time yesterday because Doublelift and Travis were visiting. Indeed, they were there as promised, and we did get a picture with Doublelift. However, my boyfriend and I paid for a 2 hour pass but ended up leaving after about one hour because the game rooms were both full and the wait list was long and we probably would have waited for at least 30 minutes longer. Did not get to play any games. The«snack area» is a joke with the tiniest selection imaginable. There’s one row of chips, fruit snacks and a small fridge with soda cans — that’s about it. You can order Chinese food, burgers, or bubble tea, but know that none of the food or drink is made on site. You order the food and they go out and buy it from some other place and bring it back and it takes a very long time. I ordered a bubble tea and didn’t get it for about 25 minutes, which is pretty ridiculous considering it’s just a beverage. All of the people there were very loud and obnoxious. There’s no way of telling the employees from visitors because there is no uniform. Great idea but it’s actually awe inspiring how poorly it has been executed. I do not recommend coming here unless you want an autograph or a picture with a pro player as they come here from time to time(not sure why since the facility is really small and crowded and boring when they do).

Used to be an absolutely amazing café with fair competitive pricing. Then the prices went up for all but the University of Washington students. I had been a VIP member for months but that counted for nothing when I came to renew under new rules and was treated atrocisly. I miss the place, but not the rude front desk.

Walking by Pink Gorilla in the UD, Justin L. and I happened upon a sign advertising the opening day of Generation Gaming Café. After the advertisement offered tournaments of 1v1 League of Legends, draft pick 5v5, select N64 games, and more to come. As well as freeplay of Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros., Golden Eye, a selection of PC games, and much more. As well as a mention of both burgers and chinese, we were intrigued. Naturally, the two of us went in and poke our heads inside to get a glimpse of the new, dare I type it, cyber café. With a glowing back lit table at the entrance, the Generation Gaming Café has the echo of a hip members only club. This is, of course, the exact vibe the place is going for, offering monthly standard and VIP membership packages(or a $ 5 cover fee for non-members). Look out downtown WAC, seems like the University District might be coming for ya. We were offered a quick tour of the small premises. There are two PC gaming rooms, both already filled to the brim with shiny PCs and gamers using them. There was also a back room containing consoles, we were allowed to peek, however it was not yet being used for play. Next to the front desk there is also a lounge space with a large white board, along with some angular couches, and a large signed League of Legends sign, that I imagine somehow came from PAX Prime. As a female I should point out that I was one of two there, the other being the Tour Guide. Still the Generation Gaming Café is neat and a little exciting, maybe places supporting group gaming are on the rise again and maybe just maybe Generation Gaming Café has cracked the code to success. Only time will tell.
