How I heard of this place: Years back, when Eva was listed on the Dine Around Seattle participating restaurants, a friend and I made a reservation to enjoy the local fare. Just four years ago, I returned to the establishment with another good friend, and today, I’m back for the third Eva culinary adventure. Type of cuisine: «A casual, Seattle neighborhood restaurant offering fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere, focusing on local produce, natural meats, and handmade wines.» Ambiance: Romantic, yet casual — so obtained by the ample noise and chatter of neighboring diners — with thoughtful and simple décor in a windowed corner establishment. The kitchen, open to view is set at the far left of the space upon entry, while a bar and more seating is available to the right, behind thick, velvety curtains separating the two eating rooms. Dark wooden tones and warm colors complement the cool, grey of the clouds visible through the large windows. Patrons, many neighborhood dwellers who have walked to the establishment, speak not in hushed, subdued tones, rather in the friendly chatter and amplification of old friends meeting for the first time in years. What I ordered: Partaking of an internet deal, we were offered two appetizers, two main entrees and two desserts from the full menu. We selected the Chilled Sweet Pea Soup($ 8) with Radish, Snap Pea, & Celery Leaf Salad, as well as the Radicchio & Endive Salad($ 9) with Golden Beets drizzled with a buttermilk-mint vinaigrette. Our main entrees consisted of the Housemade Fettuccine with Steamed Clams($ 18), applewood smoked bacon, and thyme cream, followed by the Grilled Northwest Beef Hanger Steak($ 23) with a sauté of potato, red onion, & spring vegetables, served over a feta, smoked paprika and almond saltsa. For dessert, we were equally attracted to the Eva Trio($ 8), a butter pecan ice cream profiterole; apricot-almond torte with mulled apricots, and a hazelnut pot de crème, and blown away by the Bosc Pear & Bleu d’Auvergne Cheese Crepes($ 8) with walnuts and thyme honey. What I loved: As good as it was chilled, the Sweet Pea Soup felt a little cold in the overly air-conditioned space, while the light and flavorful buttermilk-mint vinaigrette did wonders for the bitter endive and radicchio. The pasta was fresh and smokey bacon is always a winner, however the smoked paprika, feta and almond saltsa served with the spring vegetables and hanger steak made for a surprisingly delicious and plate-licking good combination! The bleu cheese crepes, however, certainly stole the show! And that profiterole, covered in rich, sweet, caramel-y goodness… whoa. Why I loved it: Delicious food served in a quaint neighborhood establishment, and three courses of mouth-watering plates that kept us more than satisfied! Cost: Average to high($ 18 — $ 23 per dinner entrée)

An neighborhood gem nestled between Wallingford and Greenlake residential area. Meticulous, dare I say, loving care goes into the preparation of their fresh, locally sourced food. Everything we ordered was delicious and flavorful. Service was attentive but not obsequious and seemed genuine. I am definitely returning to eat my way through the rest of the menu. You can’t go wrong at Eva.

Great restaurant, with an amazing drink list and fresh menu. The service is great, with a semi-casual atmosphere with white linen. If I could give a half star, it would deserve it!

My boyfriend and I came here on a weekday for dinner because we got a deal from Travel Zoo. For $ 39, we BOTH got to choose an appetizer, entrée and dessert. It turned out to be an awesome deal because an entrée alone is priced around $ 20. Food was pretty impressive, nothing amazing, but everything we tried(see photos!) — bean soup, squid salad, cod, hangar steak, pear and cheese crêpe, we were happy with. It was obvious to us our meal was carefully prepared with fresh ingredients and presented to us in a friendly manner. We enjoyed our main entrees, cod and hangar steak, the most. The restaurant was pretty empty when we got there, and even when we left. It was kind of sad because I wish they had more business. Go check this place out, it’s worth it for good food with detailed flavors and presentation, and portions that match the price. Also, the menu changes with the seasons, so there’s always something new to try. I’ll be back!

Excellent little spot near Greenlake. Eclectic wine list — not the usual boring california cab or $ 1000 cult wines. but a bunch of affordable and interesting stuff. Food is excellent. we had the hanger steak — cooked perfectly leg of lamb — tasty tried a friend’s chicken — omg. so juicy and tender, i think we wanna go back just to order this. All that and it’s very affordable and friendly staff. Great spot!

My spouse and I had a delightful, maybe almost magical time here on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Thanks go to Eva’s participation in Restaurant Week. When I found that their menu featured za’atar(tangy wild thyme condiment from the MidEast), we had to try it out. The food didn’t disappoint… we enjoyed it all: — flavorful squid with nutty dandelion pesto — prawns with Indian style mustard seed sauce — true cod cooked perfectly, with a satisfying pinto bean stew — tender lamb with rich and tangy rhubarb stew, and of course, za’atar flatbread Dessert delivered too, especially the key lime rhubarb vanilla mousse. Kudos on the service as well. The sweet and kind waitress recommended us a sparkly Greek wine. And tough to beat Eva’s romantic rustic-but-upscale cottage setting, especially on a flowery spring day.

Eva is one of the best kept secrets in Seattle. How it has managed to remain so sleepy is beyond me. I suppose its location in the somewhat elusive Tangletown has something to do with it but it’s not too hard to find and the restaurant is simply charming. Being a wine bar they have several excellent options for glasses under $ 10. I had a French red of sorts for $ 9 enjoyed it very much. We had the Columbia City bread and salted butter which shouldn’t be missed. I had the mussels, a bite of my friend’s sweet potato soup, and the housemade pappardelle with lamb. I also tried my friend’s leg of lamb which was wonderful. Very tender and flavorful. It was interesting to compare the two preparations of lamb.(How many times can I say«lamb» in this paragraph?) For dessert we had the spice cake with ice cream. We both agreed that the cake was a bit dry but worked with the ice cream. I think both dessert components should stand up on their own if served together and the cake was too dry on its own. Service was very good. Attentive but non-disruptive. We had a lovely evening. Eva is one of my favorite places in the city for dinner! The entrees are all reasonably priced between $ 18 – 23. Even the steak dish is only $ 23. I highly recommend them for most any occasion!

A great spot if you’re in the neighboorhood. Wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here. But, if you’re in tangletown and looking for something walkable and reliably«good», this is your spot!

I was pretty disappointed. We have been talking about coming here for some time. It is in such a great neighborhood and the menu looked fabulous. We started with a bottle of wine. Our server told us their wine buyer only gets great wines. Ours was a Spanish red, and while fine, it was a bit one note and nothing to brag about. Our starters were pretty good. The salad was served with whole leafs layered with thin pear slices. It was perfectly dressed. We also got the Cabrales Flan. It was nice prepared with a great pear relish. The flan as not overly pungent and had a great texture. The pear relish really was a nice sweet component. The walnut crisp was anything but good. It was dry and brittle. It lack any real flavor and had an unpleasant sand texture. I had the pork shoulder which was good. The meat was perfectly cooked and tender. I found the sauce lacking in interesting flavor. It was a bit acidic for a slow cooked meal. The potatoes that named after someone, where bland and boring. My wife had the chicken breast and sweet potato latkes. The chicken was well cooked, but needed more flavor; a better brine or sauce. The latkes were doughy and had no sweet potato flavor. It was served with a slaw, that by itself would have been good, but did not go with the meal. It was odd mix of seasonal foods on a plate. The desserts were awful. I had the trio. The Butterscotch Ice Cream Profiterole was waxy and grainy. The Chocolate Walnut Pound Cake was overly dense and flavorless. The Lemon Pudding was the best of the three, but it was overly eggy and the lemon zest added a bad texture. My wife had the apple bread pudding. She said if she got it at someone’s home it would have been fine, but here she was expecting more. It was a bit flat and dense. Our service was only so-so. We just felt, forgotten is not the word, more like it did not matter that we were there.

The food and wine here were delicious. They have a wide selection of wines and their borscht had a balanced melding of beet and pork flavor and their hangar steak with potatoes and vegetables were perfectly executed and beautifully plated. I was impressed. They lose a star because their service is very slow. It took longer than expected for our table to be ready. The food came out 20 – 30 minutes after we ordered. The wait times were long and unexpected. Not wanting to stay longer at Eva, we ordered our dessert to go. Don’t come here for the good food and wine unless you’ve got at least a few hours to dine here.

Very solid restaurant. I came here with a Travelzoo deal for 2 apps, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts. I started with the recommended cheese flan thing which was creamy and savory and very delicious. I then moved onto to the scallops. I thought that they were tasty, but they were on the small side and there were only three of them. They were served on a very large bed of spiced barley, so I assume that they thought that they could fill me up with carbs. My husband opted for the steak, medium rare, and it was prepared perfectly. The desserts could’ve been better. He had the flourless chocolate cake which was basically a thick, uninterrupted layer of deep, dark, cold chocolate. We were done after 2 bites. My blue cheese crepes with honey were better. They were more savory than sweet, but they were warm and oozy with cheese. Great wine list too. I’d come back.

Do you like yelling during dinner? Then don’t come here. Do you like waiting to be seated for hours? Then don’t come here. Do you like trendy non-seasonal, non-fresh, non sustainable meals? Then don’t come here. This place has Northwest comfort food. It isn’t going to be the best meal of your life, but it is consistent and reliable and charming. The employees seem happy here. The food is not WOW but not every meal needs to be a WOW.

Just wanted to try something new and away from Downtown Seattle, so I ventured out to Green Lake to try this hidden away restaurant. For a small restaurant, you are recommended to reserve; otherwise it’s a first come first serve basis. Service was professional with the host coming by at every dish to ask how the meal is and the waitress to come by with water frequently. I give the dishes all a 3* because most of the dishes had something that threw off that dish’s taste. The Cabrales flan took me by surprise because I was not expecting a pungent cow cheese. However, the roasted squash with blue cheese also shocked me because it was completely opposite to the Cabrales flan. The stuffed quail was tender, but the stuffing was albeit a bit too much and the dish became cold quickly. The cod was perfectly seasoned, and if the polenta was a little lighter, then it would have been my favorite dish. However, my friend LOVED that dish; he felt everything hit his taste buds exactly. The banana poppyseed cake with banana rum ice cream was a twist and quite delicious. I would order that again. Very cozy and intimate, this restaurant is decent for a date.

Fresh, seasonal menu, high quality, local ingredients, cooked to perfection and made beautiful on your plate. Pair it with one of the zillion wine selections on the menu, or even split a single glass between two wines or a half glass of each! I love the tenderloin, the green salad, the warm or chilled soups, the prawns, the duck, the chicken, and the wine. The mixed drinks are potent, and also full of fresh juices. The menu does change seasonally, and there are some fabulous options to choose from. Try something new! I bet you’ll be pleasantly surprised. The staff is meh — not bad, not amazing, decent — I do find myself wanting a little more friendliness and connection, I always feel guilty about tipping the expected amount because, to me, it’s the attitude, connection and exceptional interaction I care about and tip on. Not the good food. I pay the price for that on the menu at any restaurant. Note to staff — perk it up! Connect with me, stuck around for a second longer then dropping off my food or takin my order. SMILEOFTEN, visit me. Pretend you like customers more than you seem to. I want to like you. Help me out, in person, and on the phone.(The petite brunette seems to be the friendliest, she smiles, is helpful and informative. The blonde and the dude with beard and glasses, not so much.) I’d like to feel more like you want me there, and less like an intrusion. I will keep coming back of course, for the food, and the average service. It’s good enough, now let’s make it better!

I came here with a friend a little while back, using a bloomspot deal, and ordered a steak. It was delciious, as expected. Having been living near tangletown for a while, I was surprised I had not heard more about this place. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a nice, quiet meal on a date or to treat someone. A little on the pricier end, they have some fantastic food and libations.

The ambiance is great with dark lighting, string lights, an open kitchen and not too noisy to have a conversation. Great place to go for a date. The wait for food was quite long because their kitchen is small and all made to order but the waitress did a good job filling waters and checking in with us without being too obnoxious. I really like places that change their menu to correspond with seasonal ingredients and they do that here. They also host Farmer Market Dinners which would be a good occasion to come in the future. The food has been good. The first time I came here I had the leg of lamb though I really wanted the chicken that they no longer had on the menu. The lamb was cooked well but still seemed a bit tough and dry. The portions were a good size and the prices are not too bad. The second time I came I split their scallops over white beans and their Persian chicken with apricots and prunes over potatoes and both were seriously delicious! Very good wine selection and I think the starters are pretty delectable. The chocolate, hazelnut, banana bread pudding with rum ice cream was off the hook!

Had high hopes having heard good things about Eva, but wasn’t terribly impressed with the cuisine. Reasonably priced, cozy restaurant. Had a decent number of patrons on Sunday evening. Service is friendly and professional. Starters were actually better than the mains — friend enjoyed the cucumber soup(like a cucumber gazpacho) and the organic greens salad was very fresh and nicely presented. Duck was overly done and a bit dry. Lamb was tasty but lukewarm.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant tucked in the tangletown area. I love this area because the houses are gorgeous, the donut shop and coffee shop are nearby. My friend and I were browsing through the Seattle Restaurant Week list. It was 6:30pm and most of the popular places are booked. We came to a last resort of Eva(which, btw, we have never heard about). My first instinct was to look at the Unilocal reviews. Reviews were decent, they had a spot available at 8pm for two. The first entrée I had was the Sea Scallop in plum sauce. The scallop was amazing and I wished that there was more than 1 scallop. Obviously, this is perfectly portioned in preparation of the main entrée. I had the Braised Lamb Shank Bolognese. No idea what bolognese means. Either way it was delish, the lamb was melt in your mouth =) I decided to save some for the fiancé to try(and I wanted to save room for dessert). For dessert I had the pumpkin cheesecake with pecan crumble… A very rich cheesecake dish that I could not finish. I definitely would like to try other items on the menu. I will be coming back here something in the future… side note: loose leaf tea beverage was 4 dollars… what the eff. my friend ordered this. might as well get an alcoholic beverage for about the same price.

Disclaimer: Ate here for Restaurant Week. Lower prices but not necessarily on par with normal offerings. I liked the cozy atmosphere of Eva, especially on the kitchen side of the restaurant. The flavors of the food were good overall, although I wish the appetizer and dessert had not been served lukewarm. As an aside, the waitress was also lukewarm, unfortunately. * Curried squash soup with roasted apples & créme fraîche: Very tasty, but I didn’t like that it was served lukewarm. This seemed like a dish that should have been enjoyed while piping hot. * Brazilian seafood stew with scallops, salmon, mussels, coconut milk, cashews: The plate was shallow, but the stew was more filling than expected. Really liked the flavor. * Pumpkin bread pudding: Again, wish it was served hotter. This dessert was fine, but I have had better bread pudding. Was not a huge fan of the mushy texture.
