I guess I was expecting some really good comfort food but it didn’t meet my expectation. The drinks was also very interesting. If you’re looking at the craft cocktails, stick to the ones that’s true and tried. We ordered chicken fat fries, pumpkin ravioli, and braised cuttlefish. The fries was the best tasting followed by the pumpkin ravioli. I thought the cuttlefish was a little bit overcooked and gave off that gummy texture. Also that dish gave off a really pungent smell. The price was expensive for the portion of the dish. Clever named place, I just wished the food and drinks met the expectation. It’s best to come here for happy hour.

Went here for dinner on Friday night because my friend really wanted to try their beef tartare. It’s a cute little place inside, kind of small though. It was an hour wait for 3 people so we decided to grab drinks across the street while we waited to be seated. Setting is really dark and intimate, it might be too dark for my taste, I had to use the light off my phone to read the menu. Not good for people with bad vision like myself. Server told us they didn’t offer beef tartare that night so we opted for other dishes; chicken skin, French onion soup, chicken fat fries, cured meat platter, fried Brussels sprout, and a dozen oysters. Food was good but not all that great to me. Don’t get me wrong, food was delicious but there wasn’t anything that made me want to keep eating until I passed out, if that made any sense. I did enjoy the chicken skin and that’s a lot coming from someone that usually doesn’t like pork rinds what so ever. My friends tried the Brussels sprout and said it taste like salt so I took their word for it and didn’t try any. We got it sent back actually and that’s a shame because I love fried Brussels sprouts. It’s a good place to try and have drinks but definitely not something I’d randomly want again.

We came across this spot while trying to get out of the cold weather for a drink for HH. We didn’t stay for dinner, but tried the chicken fat fries with a local brew from their HH menu. The fries were okay, kind of bland and was lacking some pizzaz. The HH menu, as well as the regular menu was more on the pricier side. I’m sure this place offers some great eats, but it wouldn’t be my first choice for HH.

I’ve been dying to try this spot ever since Bön Appetite wrote a rave review for it! Read here: They don’t take reservations so we showed up 30 min before our group planned to meet to put our name in for a table(arrived around 7:15 for a 7:45−8pm meet up time). The wait was only 30 mins(and actually dropped to 15) so we went right across the street to E. Smith Mercantile for a quick cocktail and returned for dinner. Our other pair was running a little late, so we were seated and started with the French Onion Soup and Chicken Fat Fries. Both were delicious! The fries don’t come with any sauce unless you request. When our friends arrived, we had some oysters to start. I usually don’t like anything but mignonette sauce on them, so was hesitant to try the ginger mignonette sauce — but it was a perfect delicate, fresh addition to the briny oysters. Yum! The gents ordered the spaghetti, I had the smoked salmon dog, and my friend ordered the lamb BLT. Our only critique of the food was that there was a bit too much smoke flavor in the dog — the salmon is smoked before being cased and it tasted like it was smoked again while cooked. The texture was also a little off — you got the pop when you bit in from the casing but it got a little mushy when you worked it over after that. We shared the bread pudding for dessert — because who can resist — and it was fantastic. I loved how it was served in almost a french toast style square(vs in a ramekin or something), and the accompaniments with it were perfection. We will be back to try other options on the menu!

I enjoyed my stop here. Fantastic greetings as we walked in and offered to sit wherever. A couple had the long table for themselves but offered it to us and moved to a smaller one that fit them just right. I love kind people! They are really nice in here and very attentive. Of course, we settled in here for the rest of what’s left of our Saturday to have more booze. It was very cold out when we walked our longest 2 blocks to get here. They offer nice cocktails here as well as IPAs’ and«hot cocoa with alcohol» which, I had. It was a petite mug but the alcohol quietly crept up on me. I stopped with that remembering I was the DD. I had sips of everybody’s drinks though out of curiosity of what they were all having. It’s dark in here yet it was put-together comfortably and just very cute. Their menu was kept simple for snacks and booze. Our server was super cool and kept up with my crazy friends who were wowing her all night.(Thanks for being so game, my friend kept saying she was a hottie!) All in all, it was a lovely night. Life is good, I have no complains.

BIGSHOUTOUTTO: Bryn Lumsden for opening up his new bar with the BESTNAMEIN Seattle called«Damn The Weather»(in honor of a lesser-known classic brunch drink and as a reminder to Seattle people to get out and have fun even when it’s raining). Right in the heart of Pioneer Square where the old New Orleans restaurant used to be is this new hot bar! The décor is true Pioneer Square with exposed brick walls and high industrial ceilings. This bar has caught my eye for a while now from Unilocal and is located in the south side of the retail floor of the State Hotel building in Pioneer Square, between Yesler Way and Washington street on First avenue’s west side. Once arriving to Seattle I knew I had to check this out! I walked here from downtown Seattle which was about a 15 – 20 minute walk and well worth it! Happy Hour: is from Mon.-Fri., 4 – 6:30 p.m. * Drinks$ 1 Off Beer * Food$ 1 Off Snacks * Drinks$ 1 Off Cider & Win They are best known for their fried chicken skins. Everything is amazing-service, food, cocktails, and ambiance. I ordered the: ~Bread and butter ~Pina punch $ 9 which consisted of: pisco, sherry, pineapple syrup, lemon(it’s part of the future classics) ~Porcini blini-Salmon Caviar, crème fraîche, soy caramel ~Jingle bird cocktail-dark rum, campari, pineapple juice and lime Matt was my bartender that night and was very nice to hold a conversation with me as I was seated at the bar! This bar offers a shared plate venue with such a creative & fresh touch. Cocktails are a must here. Go early, sit at the bar. If you can get a seat at the bar, it’s worth waiting for. The bartenders will welcome you, answer your questions, and make unique drinks. They are professional and you can tell they are having fun while they work. The late menu even had some interesting snacks and plates. There were some devilish but tasty deep fried chicken skins. Not good for your cholesterol but a great bar snack. I definitely recommend this lovely bar! Cheers!
