I love, love, love Clarins skincare products, which are the best of the best(and priced that way, unfortunately). So this review is not about the products, but about my experience at the Macy’s Clarins counter. I stopped by just to pick up a replacement of something I had run out of, a transaction that should be the easiest in the world — no selection to be made, no gift wrapping required. I arrived on a busy night a couple of days before Christmas, and the ONE clerk on duty was helping someone else. No problem, I can wait. Which I did, for several minutes, until finally I thought, well maybe she doesn’t see me, so I moved into the clerk’s line of vision, made eye contact, and received an acknowledgment — «I’ll be right with you.» Twenty minutes later, I was still standing there, while she continued to assist that same customer. I literally did not move from the spot, and in twenty minutes it never occurred to her to step away to assist me, nor to find someone else who could. Fortunately, Nordstrom is just a stone’s throw from Macy’s and guess what? They sell Clarins too. And since there was nobody at their Clarins counter when I walked up, someone from another counter came over and helped me. Even gave me samples and a smile.
