good atmosphere, friendly service & nice food for the price paid.

Went there recently for restaurant week. Disappointed that we had to ask for the Restaurant Week menu, but the waiter did apologize. We were also surprised that they listed«full bar service» but didn’t have tequila or, likely, rum, since our first two drink requests were denied. We finally settled on a very nice, reasonably priced bottle of French rose, which was perfect as an apéritif and with our meal. The mushroom soup was perfect: very mushroom-y, and creamy without being heavy. It had been run through a blender, which made for a surprising texture, but the taste — hearty and full of flavor — made up for it. I ordered the pork flank steak with a turnip purée. I’d forgotten about the turnip part by the time I started eating it. It had an interesting, herbal flavor that I couldn’t quite pinpoint until I remembered. It was a bit strong, but not unpleasant, even though I’m not a huge turnip fan. The bad part was that the pork was cooked so rare that I had to take it home and reheat the leftovers in order to eat all of it. I have nothing against pink pork, but red pork is beyond my wheelhouse. Dessert(Moelleux au Chocolat) was good, but could have been just a touch more chocolate-y. All in all, I found the food to be very authentically«French Bistrot» and we were pleased overall. I would definitely like to visit again.

Really nice french Bistrot from the same owners as Voila in Madison Valley. Everything was delicious. We had the beet salad to start. Very flavorful. Definitely would order it again. For the main course we had the Moules Frites and Turbo with Risotto. Perfect. We definitely plan to come back and try other dishes. Highly recommended.

Good food and adequate service — although no bartender made for interesting cocktails. Disappointing getting seated behind a large pillar and denied request to move to another table — we were told other tables were«reserved». After more than two hours our dinner was over and the«reserved» tables remained empty — no one ever showed up. Bad form, and enough to keep me from going there again. Too bad.

A fabulous restaurant with delicious food and warm ambience! Something on the menu for everyone. Quiet enough to enjoy a conversation, a rare thing. Plenty parking too

My wife and I had a very nice date here. It was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday and that’s why I’m writing a review — they deserve more patronage! We had set menu each:(onion soup, hanger steak, bread pudding, $ 25) and(endive salad, pork chop, profiteroles, $ 30). Onion soup was great, endive salad well done, steak was quite good, pork chop delicious although stuffed with too much onion. Bread pudding and profiteroles quite delicious. Overall we were very happy with food quality and taste. Our bottle of Bordeaux was middling and not great value but that’s not uncommon and I should have ordered WA wine — worth a gamble though. Staff were very friendly and attentive and the décor is a very nice change from Seattle norm. Overall value was excellent and we’ll be back.

Contrary to many of the negative reviews I have read, my wife and I had a very positive experience here. It is a very cute(not high end and flashy) place and a great spot for a date night. Has a nice romantic vibe about it. The food was cooked to perfection, portions were generous, service was great and very attentive and for the price, you couldn’t beat it. We will certainly return, just wish they were closer!

Could definitely be better… service was fine. No issues there. Ambience was ok… However, the menu was a bit of a disappointment. I’ve definitely had better French cuisine. And can I just mention the state of the bathrooms? Yuck. They appear to share a bathroom with another facility, and the«facilities» are quite awful. Makes you wonder.

I feel like I discovered a secret. Chloe is absolutely delicious, authentic French cuisine. The duck(special of the evening) was succulent, flavorful and altogether transporting The soup was a creamy celeriac and was perfect in every way-temperature, subtlety and portion. Atmosphere is weird in a charming way.

My wife and I went to Chloe recently, having just moved to the Laurelhurst neighborhood. It’s right around the corner from our house, so we really were hoping for a nice spot to use as a «go to» option. Sadly, Chloe is not it. We ordered the french onion soup to start, my wife got mussels and a zuchini salad for dinner and I got the stuffed pork chop. The french onion soup was probably the best part of the meal. Not too salty as I’ve seen from other places. Classic french onion soup. Nothing more, nothing less. The entrees were the real disappointment(though it was also a bummer to learn that their full bar had stopped for the night because it was so slow). My wife’s mussels were quite literally half empty. Half of them had no mussel at all. She also had to add salt and pepper to the broth to get it seasoned properly. The zuchini salad she ordered was good, though not nearly enough food for its $ 11 price tag. My pork chop was very poorly cooked with one section of it being too rare to safely eat. My stomach even got a little upset later in the evening. I guess I should have been more careful. Again, much like the mussels, the seasoning wasn’t very well done. It had no balance at all with the flavors it was striving for. The highlight on the plate were the mach potatoes, which weren’t much of a highlight at all. Just potatoes pureed. All in all, disappointed. Perhaps Ciao Bella will fare better.

Tonight I found Chloé Bistrot by chance while driving. I went inside and had dinner: — Salade de mâche with chèvre — Mussels with french fries(moules aux frites) — Tiramisu I must say that the salad was the best salad I ever ate in Seattle. The tiramisu was great. And the mussels were good. The waiter was very nice. And I talked to a nice couple who sat next to my table. It was a great dining experience. I recommend Chloé Bistrot. Next time I will go to their branch in E. Madison Street, Voilà. And I will let you know if it is as good as Chloé Bistrot. I will come back with friends!!! :)

Microsoft Prime 2012 – 2013 Classy Act Ambience: 4 Food: 4 Value: 4 The sibling restaurant to its Seattle location, Chloe café serves quality French faire in a quiet street close to UW campus(it’s one street over from the UW golf driving range). However, compared to the bohemian food sellers on University, Chloe seems like light years away. The food is executed with excellent and the tastes are right on. We had escargot and muscles for appetizer, rack of lamb, the halibut, and the steak frites for entrees. Everything is very good, in that sensual mellow and subtle way that French cooking is famous for. You have to appreciate that kind of intricate cooking to like this place. But I do, and I like it. Be forewarned, prime card is only good for dinner and cannot be combined with their Sunday wine special

Oh boy, where to start… I guess I’ll give you the few positive things about Chloe Bistrot. There were very few people dining there on this particular night so our waitress was very attentive to refilling our waters and bread basket. She was also a perfectly fine waitress. Nothing special, but at least did her job. There was one dish we ordered that was actually half decent. The beet salad(although I would argue it was a bit overpriced for what you get). This was probably the only dish of the night that had any color and flavor to it. Now on to the bad. As you can guess I had no qualms with service while dining here it was simply that the food was, well, awful. I’d expect a french bistro to have incredibly bright and flavorful dishes that leave you satisfied and this was not the case. In addition to the beet salad, our table got the mixed greens salad. What a joke. It was a tiny plate covered with a few meager greens and barely any dressing. There was nothing else added to the salad. I also noticed at the table next to us that they had ordered the bibb lettuce salad. While I obviously didn’t taste that plate it looked like it suffered the same fate as the mixed green salad in that it was simply just some greens and nothing else. I later watched the waitress take that plate away with the salad barely touched. On to the entrees. Two of us ordered the mussels provencale. Dear god was this dish horrendous. I hate to say it, but my family and I make better mussel dishes at home. While I appreciate that they served us nice big and plump mollusks, the broth was colorless, watered down, and the few tomatoes were cold and unappetizing. The salmon dish was boring. All it was was a piece of salmon with nothing done to it. Come on! Let’s be a little bit creative… pretty please? Finally, the chicken dish(our waitress said was her favorite dish on the menu). The meat was grey, barely warm, and just unappealing. Also, both the salmon and chicken dish had a side of mashed potatoes that tasted like the betty crocker packaged kind. Yikes! I know we all were unhappy with our dishes and frankly wanted to send them back, but can you really send back all 4 entrees? I think we were just too sheepish to do that. Needless to say, after that experience we did not order dessert and left hungry and in search of a second(or one could argue first) dinner. If Chloe continues to put out food like that I don’t think their stay will last very long.

I try not to give out 5 stars all willy nilly, particularly on a first visit. I was so tempted to give Chloe that extra star to make it 5 because my experience was fantastic. Such a cute little bistro, who would have thought the food would be spectacular? Certainly not me and I was pleasantly surprised and blown away. Service itself was excellent. Attentive and friendly staff started off our meal with a good start. Their salmon crème fraîche was so mouthwatering, I enjoyed every decadent bite. Paired with their sauteed kale, I stuffed myself silly and thought I couldn’t eat another bite. That is, until I saw their dessert menu and saw their crème brûlée. How could I resist such rich fare? Resist I did not as I shared among my dinner mates and we all enjoyed spoonfuls for creamy, sweet bites of this delicious dessert. Seriously, the food here is amazing and I will certainly be back.

We really really wanted to like this place. Good(convenient) location, good reviews. The service was somewhat spotty. There were only 3 parties seated(one being a family with 3 kids) and the hostess put everyone in 3 consecutive tables in the corner. I’m sure that there is some kind of algorithm that restaurants use to fill tables, but I don’t think this is it. With the rest of the restaurant completely empty, our little occupied corner felt a little crowded. As more people came in, they spread out the tables a bit more. Bread came promptly, but we had to wait for water refills. I started with mussels(which everyone had raved about), but they were tough and did not have much flavor beyond garlic. The wife started with soup, but she was relatively unimpressed. I had a monkfish dish which sounded great, as I am a huge monkfish fan. But the fish was a bit overcooked and the sauce didn’t live up to the description. My wife ordered cassoulet(as she does whenever it is on the menu), took a few bites, then brought the rest home because she didn’t want to be rude and send the whole thing back. I ended up eating half of it for lunch the next day and we tossed the rest. The main flavor was salt. On the plus side, the portions were hearty(except for the 5 mussels on my appetizer). Unfortunately, quantity did not trump quality.

The 2 items I ate were not especially wonderful. ravioli w/truffle oil was over oiled and too few, and watercress salad was over dressed. The special halibut w/risotto ordered at our table was delicious, I wish I ordered it. The apple tart was sub-par– tasted not quite good. I’d try it one more time, but overall first try I was underwhelmed. Service was good and bottle of wine decent. The ambiance stood out as being disappointing-the colors and mirrors just a bad combination.

Size does matter! Despite the negative comments that this places has received about their service, I dined here the other night with my family using the always popular Groupon. Now I’ve been to a fair number of french restaurants(including some in France), and my biggest complain has always been about the quantity of food. Sure its delicious, but if I’ve got to go to in-and-out afterwords because I’m leaving hungry, then I’m not happy. This was surly not the case at Chloe Bistrot. Not only was the food very delicious(I got the muscles) but I was very impressed with the the portion size. In fact, two of my party ordered the fish dishes(and fish is always asking to be disappointed when it comes to size) and we were all really impressed by the huge(and masterfully done) fillet of fish we were served! Will for sure be coming back! PS — Maybe with all the Unilocaling they’ve taken notice and improved their service. They allowed me to try several wines, and were always attentive. Excellent dining experience, and well priced for French cooking!

I’ve driven or bussed by this place many times since it open, but finally went in yesterday for a girls’ night(sponsored by Groupon.) Everything we ordered was delicious: –French onion soup, a little less cheesy than most, but a delicious flavor with really sweet onions. I liked that the bread was a little bit crisp still. –Escargot. I refuse to eat escargot having tried it once on a bet, but the escargot conoisseur and newbie both said it was great. The sauce was green(parsley?) which surprised me because it said it was a garlic butter sauce. –My entrée: red snapper. Came with a fabulous lemon butter sauce with capers and potatoes that were super light and fluffy. –Friend’s entrée: hanger steak. She finished it and it looked delicious, with a beautiful brown sauce. –Friend’s entrée: Kobe burger. You can’t do anything wrong with Kobe beef, can you? It came out medium like she asked and topped with brie and caramalized onions. The fries were garlic fries which they probably shouldn’t surprise people with, but she was excited about. A lot of reviews talk about their lack of service, but our waitress was actually overly attentive. She tried to take our order as soon as we sat down, and two more times before we’d had a chance to look at the menu! The other reason I took away a star is the unclear menu– the garlic on the fries was a surprise, my potatoes were a surprise, we don’t know why the escargot were buried in green sauce, and they don’t tell you what the wines by the glass are. Overall, charming(but expensive) restaurant north of downtown. I’m happy with it.

Chloe is a darling little place and the the sister restaurant to Voilà! It’s a perfect little neighborhood Bistrot with a good vibe and slow service(perfect for a french Bistrot, right!) The mussels in white wine with leeks were cooked to perfection. Ask for extra bread to soak up the broth. If you only order one item on the menu get the Belgium Endive Salad with Walnuts and Blue Cheese. Who needs Paris when we have Chloe(ok, we all need Paris) but if you are looking for a quaint, romantic, neighborhood Bistrot go to Chloe and fall in love.
