Tasty food! But they closed! NOOOOOO!!! Now I’m no longer sure where decent Chinese can be found in Belltown. :-(

Appears it closed after a dispute with the landlord. I heard it will be moving but I don’t know when or where. A Korean place moved in called Tofu Bamboo. As it all happened in like a week, want I am writing may change or become more firm.

This is no longer a Chinese restaurant. It was sold but kept the name and now serves Korean food. Big bummer as we were really looking fwd to one of our fav spots(not anymore). The food was either really pickled or really bland Needless to say we won’t be back

Yummy dinner! Ordered the Hunan spicy tofu with a side of white rice. Will be returning to try more. Nice place and friendly staff.

I’m the only Caucasian in the joint! A good sign for sure! Im tempted to over order. The menu offerings are exciting. Tonight I will sample Roti Canai and Shanghai Soup dumplings. The Roti Sauce is thick, bright, sweet and sour. It is a purée without any solid potato or meat. the pancake is heavier than I am used to… it is thick and chewy with a thin crisp of skin. I gobbled them down shamelessly trying to identify the subtle fragrant layers of seasoning in the Roti Sauce. The Shanghai soup dumplings… A few were dried out and most of them were overcooked… When soup dumplings are steamed too long the dumpling skin rips and they leak out all the soup :(. My waiter was quick to swoop in and offer me a second order. He returned to let me know that they mixed two different types. The new and the old. And everyone likes the old better, so he would bring me some old style ones.

I’d really give this three and half. All I’ve eaten here is the straight ahead American-Chinese stuff — General Tso, almond chicken, sesame chicken, beef/broccoli. It’s good, rip-sticking stuff. Huge lunch special. Great for a hungover day at work when you’re trying to make a turd and just get through the day.

This place has some good Chinese food. Not super authentic, but their food is delicious, and that’s really all that matters. My BF and I ordered the Singapore noodles, roti canai, pork dumplings, and hot and sour soup. Everything was delicious, that’s all I can really say!

Pan asian restaurant. We noted a bunch of asian clientelle so we figured its got to be good. their wing appetizers were scrumptious. Large enough portions that one order good enough for three.

The place was empty but I think it was because we were late. The server was really nice and explained things on the menu. We had a big party so we ordered a bunch of things. I enjoyed the food and the tea. We had the hand made dumplings(vegetarian) and they were very good.

If you’re looking for authentic Chinese food, don’t go here. How do I know this? I ordered their soup dumplings(xiao long bao), and even they admitted they over cooked it by steaming it for too long when they brought the dish out. I will be the first to admit that soup dumplings are difficult to master, but if you have it on your menu, you should have an idea of how to get it right. Black Bamboo did not deliver. Most of the dumplings were punctured, which meant all the soup had already leaked out. The one thing I respect is that they did not charge me for it when I expressed my disappointment. I also ordered the chicken chow mein which was ok but way too salty. Needless to say, I won’t be going back.

Just FYI some of the items in the pictures have been discontinued(shanghai buns are different and no shumai, I also didn’t see the spicy beef noodle soup on the menu) The food: Beef with string beans: very good. The beans were a little over cooked but the beef was great! Chicken chow mein: also good, but the noodles were definitely just store bought. Shanghai buns: pork was good, but ours had little to no juice in them. Green onion pancakes: awesome. A little chewier than other places, but in a good way. This was the fan favorite at our table. Spinach dumplings: very good, could use a little more seasoning though. Pork dumplings: not my favorite. They tasted a little sour to me for some reason. Service: our waitress was extremely attentive and professional. When I called to make a reservation they even asked if we’d like them to have any food prepared for us ahead of time. Ambience: it’s nice and casual, pretty clean, and our booth was very comfortable

I am obsessed with this place. I’ve been coming here for lunch at least once a week since I moved here TWOMONTHSAGO. To me, their lunch specials are so reasonably priced. For $ 9 you get rice(steamed or fried), choice of entrée, soup(hot and sour or egg drop), a fried potsticker AND a vegetable egg roll. So much food! I always take some home with me! The General Tso’s chicken seems to be the most popular choice here, and rightly so. Perfectly battered, crispy chicken with a delicious sauce with a balanced sweet and spicy flavor. Level 4 heat suits me. I’ve also had the Kung Pao prawns and it’s equally tasty with plenty of well cooked shrimp. Service is friendly. They’re always packed at lunch. Damn it I want to eat there now but I just went yesterday. OB-SESSED.

What a gem downtown ! I recently visited Seattle and walked a lot while there. We kept passing this place and the smell grabbed us. We walked in and it’s a cute, quaint place. We were here during lunch . We were promptly greeted by a sweet lady. Our server was great as well! I ordered the General Tsos Chicken and my boyfriend got the Prawn Fried Rice. Both were super good ! Hot and steamy and full on flavor ! A lot of times I order Tsos and its soggy with the sauce. Not this one. It was crispy, and the amount of sweet sauce was perfect ! The prawn fried rice was heavenly with plump, juicy prawn ! I can now say I’ve had bad Chinese in Texas. Lol! Our server was so nice to give us fortune cards since it was Chinese new year. It was so good, we ordered takeout the same day for dinner ! Don’t miss out on this spot.

I live a few blocks away from here and come here at least once or twice a week. The service here is quick and top notch. Why waste a trip to the International District when you can get high quality food, cheap prices, and amazing service in Belltown?! When I first moved into my apartment a couple blocks away last year, my roommates and I decided to check out this restaurant due to the high reviews and we were not disappointed. We came about 30 minutes before closing, but the waitress smiled and seated us right away. We ordered several items from the menu and food was brought out within minutes. The portions were huge and used high quality ingredients. We were not able to finish most of it so the waitress packed all of our food in to-go boxes and gave us an additional large to-go tub of their hot and sour soup since she was going to have to throw it away at the end of the day. It was really sweet of her. Since then, she’s memorized my regular lunch order and regularly checks up on how school and work are going. My favorite dishes here are the Mongolian beef, sweet and sour pork, and beef noodles. I’m also quite fond of their house special fried rice which includes large chunks of chicken, beef, and pork. They have an amazing $ 9.00 lunch special where you choose rice or fried rice, with a side in additional to a soup, dumpling, and egg roll(all three items!). For $ 7-$ 12 dishes, the portions here are huge, but they don’t leave you feeling like you’ve swallowed a vat of oil at the end of your meal. This place does get busy during the weekday lunch hour so I recommend going before 12:00pm or after 1:00pm. Good food and awesome service keep me coming back again and again.

I’m not big into Chinese food, but my husband loves it, so we decided to try it. I had the almond chicken, and it’s quite good. It’s breaded fried chicken sprinkled with almonds and a side of a gravy looking sauce. It was really tasty. It does not come with rice, but they rice is very inexpensive. They offer a house tea for free, and water. My husband had the general Tso chicken and he said it was Delish! Good pricing for portions

This is one of my absolute favorite places in Belltown. I work a few blocks from here and try and eat lunch here at least once a week. The food is good, but the service is impeccible — and that’s what keeps me coming back. When this place first opened, I went to lunch one day with a coworker. I’d been here once or twice before, but that day I ordered something different. When my lunch came, I took a couple of bites and immediately became concerned, because my food tasted terrible– like a chemical cleaner had been poured in to it. I had my coworker taste it, and he said it tasted fine. I, however, couldn’t eat it. My mouth was burning and I couldn’t drink enough water to get the chemical taste out of my mouth. The waitress came over and I explained what I was tasting — she immediately knew what was wrong. Some people can’t stand the taste of the chili oil they use for spicier dishes. I, apparently, am one of them. This is where the amazing service comes in. This waitress(and I feel like a jerk, because I can’t remember her name) remembers me every time I come in. Once, when I placed a phone order to go, she chastised me for eating lunch at my desk. But no matter what I order, she remembers me and delivers it to me with the biggest smile. When I eat in, she ensures that we are satisfied with our food and that all is well. In a moderately sized city, in a busy downtown restaurant, this kind of service is huge — and it really goes a long way in making me a return customer. Also, the hot and sour soup is second to none.

Superior Chinese in the downtown area. We are very skeptical at first, as this doesn’t look like much from the outside, but inside is very nice. We ordered multiple dishes, including General Tso’s, extra spicy. Everything was done very well. Super nice staff. It was hot hot day and the server always kept our water full! Will definitely return when visiting Seattle.

BF and I were looking for a Chinese restaurant within 10 – 15 minutes of our hotel, and we found this place. What a great find — thanks to Unilocal reviews! Easy to find in Belltown, and adequate street parking for a Tuesday night. Nice décor and incredibly friendly waitress. We got the Potstickers, Beef and Broccoli and General Tso’s Chicken, and all of it was really good. Probably the best potstickers I’ve had in a long time, and both entrees were delicious. Overall, a great dinner and I would highly recommend this place!

I walked up 3rd Avenue to give this place a try the other night after work, and I am so glad I did! The location does look a little modest from the outside, but inside the décor is pleasant. The dining room is fairly small, but that is not unusual for Downtown restaurants. Due to my unhealthy candied-shellfish addiction, I had to order the Honey Walnut Prawns. Strangely, rice is not included with the dish, but it’s not too expensive to order a cup of rice on the side, which I did. Also, sodas are not ‘all you can drink’, but by the can. Food was served relatively quickly, and I think it might have been the best honey walnut shrimp I have had. The walnuts were crunchy and fresh, not sticky, and the sauce for the shrimp was perfect – sweet but not too sweet, and not too ‘mayonnaise-y’. I even thought the bed of greens that it was served on complemented the rest of the dish well. Service was very attentive and pleasant, and while the price may have been slightly more than the ‘average’ Chinese place, I felt like it was probably worth it. I feel like I should go back and try some of the other selections, but it’s going to be hard not to order those prawns again.

I was so fortunate to bookmark this place! It is awesome! I was going to see a movie in Belltown and had some extra time. I did not have lunch yet and ducked in here. The service is very prompt and friendly! I ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken which was delicious! The chicken was breaded just right and the sauce was not too thick. I ordered some tea. I can’t quite remember the exact name but it had ‘rose’ in the title. It was very unusual. It was a kind of tea I haven’t had before. I think there was some seaweed in the tea as it filtered. It certainly smelled like it but the flavor was wonderful! So delicate and warming! I will indeed be back!
