BBB Used Tires

This place is a great small tire –cash only? idk– business to shop at in the Rainier Valley…
I got a nail jammed too close to the edge of my tire around 2 pm, went to my favored tire shop but they didn’t have a tire for my car for at least 24 hrs… that would not work since I am a nanny and have to safely drive kids EVERYWHERE nearly all afternoon.
I called BBB used tires and they had two options for me car, one 60% and one 95%… so I picked the 95% for $ 50! NOT BAD! Especially since a new one would have been $ 140 (GULP!)…
I would definitely CALL AHEAD and make sure that they have the right tire for your car and with the right amount of tread that you need. They are friendly and super fast. I was in and out within 25 minutes! WOO HOO! Day saved!

Been meaning to review these guys for a while, used them for a second time a few months ago and I think they deserve a 4-​star — maybe even a full 5. I will definitely continue to use them. They are very nice guys who know their business; will show you what they have in your size (and have even had them say that they would not sell me tires that were just a slightly different size, even though they could be used on my car, because they just wouldn’t be the original recommendation); mount and balance quickly and right there in front of you; and your cash deal when they give you a price means no extras for disposal, tax, valve stems, balancing, all the stuff that tire stores hit you with to drive the price up by about $ 10-​$ 20/​wheel more than the actual tire price.
OK, so it does not have a shiny waiting room with old trucking magazines and burned coffee — but you don’t pay for that rent in your price, either, and they actually let you see what they are doing to your car and get you out quickly. And to those who complain about the quality of some tires — come on, they are USED, you can see what you are getting and you can go with an emergency single that has 25% tread, or a set of 4 with 60% tread, or I even recently got an essentially brand new set of 4 that still had the factory green paint lines in the tread. A lot of the responsibility with merchants like this is on the buyer, you go in knowing to pay a little attention and that there may be some quality risk — but these are good guys, and I’m sure that they would help out if you needed a flat fixed or a re-​balance with something that they sold you.
But also look at it this way — it helps the environment to continue to use up tires that have been taken off by someone else, with less new rubber produced (average of 5 – 10 gallons of petroleum-​based crap used for each tire), less energy and effort spent dealing with scrap tires, you help an independent local small business to survive, and save some dough as you do it all. Those are reasons enough for me, even if they don’t hand out free (as though it really is…) beef — sorry, Les Schwab.

I like supporting Hispanic businesses as well, but one’s country of origin shouldn’t trump customer service.
I’m the guy who gave BBB a bad review on Google! and here is why… I purchased two tires from BBB and was told by the owner [the big guy] that they had over 60% tread left. A month and 500 miles later I noticed the wear bars showing on both tires. 500 miles does not equal 60% tread. So I returned and tried to see if we could work something out. I was told that there is no warranty, and he grabs a pipe off the ground and ran me off… It’s one thing to sell used items, but be honest, and don’t threaten customers with violence when they question you.

We had a very positive experience with BBB Used Tires on Rainier. Some friends were visiting from Canada and they got a flat. The tire was under warranty from Canadian Tire, so they didn’t want to buy a new tire here in Seattle. We went to BBB on a Sunday morning hoping they’d have a tire that was good enough to get them safely back to Vancouver, and cheap enough to make it worth buying a used tire. When we arrived, there was no wait. They had two tires to choose from for the car, one for $ 30, and one for $ 40, installed. My friends chose the $ 40 tire, which looked pretty good. 10 minutes later they were ready to roll with their new used tire. They made it back to Vancouver no problem There are still a lot of miles left on that tire, so they’re going to keep it as a spare. We were really pleased with the service. Friendly, helpful, very good price, and super fast There’s a negative review for BBB on Google saying they sell tires with little tread and that they don’t back up their sales. To that, I’d say these are used tires, so you have to be careful what you buy, but out experience was awesome. BTW, the owners are Honduran, and we like supporting Hispanic businesses whenever possible.
