Okay Unilocalers, please chant with me: *Schwarzbier, Schwarzbier, Schwarzbier, Schwarzbier, Schwarzbier, Schwarzbier* This is, by far, my favorite Seattle beer. It occurs to me that, in order to further describe it, I have to shamelessly copy and paste on this review all the data that build up the goodness in this fantastic and sublime lager. (From Baron’s website ) «The Baron Schwarzbier is a classic German black lager, deep black with ruby and brown highlights. At first the Schwarzbier starts with a slight roasty nose and taste, followed by a faint chocolate-malty body with a very crisp, clean, lagered finish. Lagered for an average of 10 – 12 weeks to provide a very smooth, easy drinking Schwarzbier with full flavor provided by the dark malts. All ingredients for the beer are imported from Germany. Brewed in accordance to the German Beer Purity Law(Reinheitsgebot) of 1516. OG: 1.049 FG: 1.011 ABV:4.9 IBU: 26 Malt: Pilsner, Carafa Special, Chocolate Wheat Hops: Hallertau, Tettnang» Oh, yes! Smooth, crisp and clean libation? All these and more! For those who aren’t interested in theory and numbers, just GO and try it. You’ll be thankful to have this place in our city. Mr. Mike will gladly pour for you and, at $ 1 for 4oz glass, the tasting experience is a steal. Bringing directions along is important. Make sure you write down the suite number, because finding the brewery isn’t easy. Thanks to Evan B. for sharing the joys of good beer. When it comes to beer related issues, this is the man you got to listen to. *Now, back to chanting*

I went to their tasting room this weekend(1st stop of the Unilocal Breweries Tour 2009) and had a wonderful visit. The friends I brought say this one was their favorite stop on the tour. Sweet! I loved this one, but also loved the drink I had at the Laughing Buddha brewery on the other side of the building(so make sure to visit both in one outing!). I’m not a big beer drinker… except, apparently, when it comes to tasting rooms. I *love* beer when it comes to tastings. I had the Liberator and the Red that’s part of their… non-Baron/German line. I also tried a little of the Schwarzbier and the Pilsner. I think the Red was my favorite. The guy working was friendly and excited about what the company is doing. I absolutely LOVE it when people love what they do because… well, I think it just makes everything better.

ahdshafdsjoaiksmflskadjfoiuoiew sorry, that’s the only way to express how I really feel this has been the first brewery I’ve ever been to(which is a lot, seroiusly… tons) that I can say with all honesty that I would drink any and all of their beers one after one until I lost all ability to drink any more. How rare it is to find a brewery that doesn’t make a single beer I don’t like. American breweries that try to imitate german traditions and styles usually fail… not the case with Baron. In fact, their Über Weiss is the first wheat beer, german or otherwise, that I have had that rivals Weihenstaphener(the world’s oldest brewery, and makers of the finest wheat beer known to man). Our experience at the tasting room was beyond awesome. Seriously, just go.
