Best sandwiches and fries I’ve ever had. Worth every penny! Get the pork belly sandwich!

Very expensive and very slow. Took 30 minutes for a hot sandwich to come out… cold. Fries were brought to table before sandwich and were fresh, but still took 20 minutes themselves. Cheapest sandwich and fries is $ 14.45. That’s without a drink. Way too much for a slow, cold sandwich. Was probably complicated by the large group order they were preparing while those of us silly enough to walk in had to wait for our food.

Oh my goodness! Disclaimer; I ordered from Amazon Prime Now Delivery and while I’ve never eaten at the restaurant, I still wanted to share my experience. First: I hated my sandwich. I’ve been grossed out by «tuna salad» ever since I was pregnant. This isn’t quite their fault though — I ordered a «Tuna Nicoise and Sliced Boiled Egg Baguette Sandwich». My expectation was that it would be a lightly seared sashimi grade tuna. I received tuna salad and… had to scrap it all off. Regardless of my personal tastes — The sandwich was beautifully prepared, bursting with flavor and, overall, an incredible experience. I am not taking points off because I disliked my menu choice. I will order not this in the future, but believe I can find a sandwich I do like. Second: Oh my god, their sides I just got out of the hospital, and this was the first«real food» I’ve had in over a week. I ordered the green bean salad, the beet salad, the red potato salad and the hot and sour soup.(First real food after the hospital: I was so hungry) Green Bean Salad: I will order again from here, just for this. Perfect combo of flavors, and real, fresh green beans. So good. Beet Salad: Again, so good. Fresh, tender, perfectly seasoned… These are some of the best beet’s I’ve ever had from a restaurant, hands down. Red Potato Salad: Uh, good flavor, but more spice than I could deal with. Will review at later point. Hot and Sour Soup: OHMYGODAMAZING. I adore H&S Soup when I’m sick and this is legit my new favorite. Overall: The ingredients were all fresh and the flavor profiles incredible. For delivery, it was well packaged and maintained quality from Cap Hill to Ballard. I am truly impressed and look forward to my next order. Thank you!

If you’re in the area and wanting a quick, hearty lunch option, Baguette Box is a decent choice. I wouldn’t necessarily make a trek across town — but if you’re on capitol hill already and want something mostly banh mi-like without heading over to the international district… Baguette Box is your jam. So, my expectations of most banh mi places include: 1) hole in the wall, possibly questionable health department score, but worth it because 2) fresh, delicious, authentic banh mi bursting with savory flavors balanced by tart pickles and tempered by fresh vegetables and 3) a bargain! I’m pretty used to picking up a hefty banh mi for lunch that’s $ 2.50, or maybe $ 4TOPS. Okay — here’s the deal. Baguette Box sort of fails on all 3 of these counts. 1) Definitely not hole in the wall. It’s on cap hill, and is more hipster trendy than international. But hey, comes along with more faith that I won’t pick up any sketchy stomach bugs. So I am okay with this. 2) Here’s where things go downhill for me. As a sandwich, Baguette Box does okay. Not great. But definitely a solid, okay. Definitely tasty flavor, but not banh mi. I think my main issue was that, as I explained above, I expect my banh mi to be well balanced. I ordered the drunken chicken sandwich, and while it was extremely savory, I was tired of the one-note, salty taste after a few bites. Could definitely use a higher veggies: meat ratio. I sort of felt like I wanted to immediately eat a salad afterward in order to balance my palate a little, and let’s be honest… that is a rare thing for me to say. 3) Baguette Box is expensive, at least for banh mi. And alright, I would be totally fine with that if I felt like the sandwich was significantly higher quality or tasted a lot better. But see point #2; I don’t think this is necessarily the case. And to price a sandwich 3x or 4x higher, yes you could justify this by saying more food is offered. But the portion size actually became bigger than I would actually want for lunch, and wasn’t tasty enough for me to actually want more sandwich(this is a big problem). The fries here, though, were on point. They came out piping hot. And I love when fries actually taste potato-ey with the skins still on them, which they did here. Yum! Honestly, if I came back here I might order a rice bowl instead, or just the fries. But I find this unlikely, as capitol hill parking is difficult to come by as is, and there are better places to eat on the hill. And, it’s pretty sad that for a place with«Baguette» in the name, the best item might not be the sandwich.

SLOW. 15 minutes for my sandwich at 1:30pm when the place was empty. Don’t come in a rush.

Wanted to try a new spot in the neighborhood for lunch and I’m so glad I tried baguette box. I got the crispy drunken chicken sandwich. The bread was soft but crusty and perfect. The chicken was super flavorful and well spiced. Loved the pickled jalapeños and cilantro — both of which were in more abundance than I expected. Nice. Onions were good. One star off for overall flavor — it was just too salty. But I’ll definitely be back!

We’ve been going to Baguette Box for the tofu banh mi sandwich for almost five years now. At this point it’s safe to say that it’s the best sandwich I’ve ever eaten, period. The bread is crispy on the outside and sort on the inside. The tofu is both chewy and pillowy, the only tofu I’ve ever truly enjoyed. It’s marinated in the most delightful sauce. The crunchy daikon, carrots, jalapenos, and cilantro are perfect accents. Pour some of the hot chili sauce on top and chomp away! Seven minutes in heaven. And it’s vegan! What could be better?! Don’t even get me started on the spicy onion rings. I only found out about ‘em a couple years ago and feel like I’ve wasted time by not eating them during The Lost Years, those couple of years prior to knowing about them. Have a great time!

Great place for a casual meal just on the edge of Cap. Hill/Downtown. The baguettes are fresh and just the right combo of crusty and chewy and the fillings go beyond the basics to create a great fusion of flavor. Try the pork belly sandwich, and the tofu Tom-Yum soup. The soup has the familiar tang of Tom-yum, but is creamier then in most places and has just the right spice level that builds slowly as you eat it.

First time ordering from Unilocal.Received my food on time. I have been of state for the week and decided on delivery food. This restaurant is really good. Even tho I ordered something little like ribeye steak salad, beet salad, and 2 thai Ice tea. Being in seattle, coming from san francisco… I would def order from this place. You can only order from another party app that delivers. not directly from the restaurant and I think that’s still a good idea for business.

Really wanted to rate this place higher. I will def go back to try more of their sandwiches and hopefully get them up to a 4 or a 5 star. Had the most popular sandwich for lunch today. The drunken crispy chicken. It was incredibly mediocre. Here’s the thing tho, it wasn’t the sandwich ingredients, it was the execution. The recipe is fantastic. Potential was all there. But the key ingredient, the crispy fried chicken, was soggy and not crisp. The onions seemed like they could have used a little more TLC too. I think if they took the time to remake it with some TLC it would have been a much better sandwich. Anyone else agree with me on the chicken not being crispy?

After receiving a message(cleverly disguised as a compliment) by the new owner, remonstrating me for detailing the use of MSG in the drunken chicken recipe, then threatening to evoke his«legal right» to actively remove my review, I thought I’d write a second, more in-depth review. It is the duty of employees of the Box to know recipes by rote(I worked there for a stretch in 2008⁄9 until my boss physically assaulted another employee.). The existence of some dubious ingredients pales in comparison to its even more regrettable business practice, including treating both customers and employees like garbage. I was VERY fond of Baguette Box, in general– although quality was very much hit and miss(don’t look inside the walk-in). The owners, whose loathsome grasp of the goings-on and functionality of a kitchen or customer service — is ludicrous. Whatever business prowess they possess is entirely limited to Excel sheets and should stay there. They should not EVER attempt to fool themselves with the notion that they can or should cook. They should leave that particular labour to the peasants they employ. I REPEAT, stay away from the drunken chicken. Whether or not the recipe contains MSG(the new owner is emphatic in his insistence that it doesn’t), the chicken is of poor quality and the duration of frying the raw pieces is inconsistent, resulting in half-cooked chicken alarmingly often. Drunken chicken INDEED. I am amazed the control board hasn’t shut this place down. So yeah, two stars docked from my original review for threatening behavior. I sincerely hope their cavalier and pompous attitude hasn’t killed someone yet.

Randomly Unilocaled this place & I’m so glad we did! We ordered the eggplant + feta cheese, crispy tofu + avocado, and k BBQ rice bowl. They all tasted great, personally my favorite was the crispy tofu sandwich. It was flavored perfectly. The place was clean and the design inside was creative.

I’ve only been there once, but looking forward to my next trip! The drunken crispy chicken bowl was delicious, but other things on the menu looked super-tempting too. The service was nice, and reasonably prompt, even though we were there around noon on a weekday. (I actually don’t mind my food taking a bit to be prepared, but it didn’t feel slow at all.) All in all, I can’t wait to go back soon!

Best sandwich in a long time. I had the drunken chicken sandwich. Although the bread part was a little too much. Thankfully the offer it in just a bowl option. I will try that next time. Butbyhe flavor was amazing.

This place is delicious, everything I have had here is pretty on point, however it never feels like anyone wants to help customers whenever I go in there. Im not sure of this is some sort of reverse psychology business model but whatever is happening is a pain in the ass and I’ve stopped going because of this. The last time I was there the 3 people at the counter continued talking to each other while my husband and I waited. We finally walked out after 5 minutes. It was bizarre and uncomfortable to say the least.

«The beauty of fusion served with pickled radish and carrots on a toasted baguette.» My lunchtime adventure took me up to Pine Street where the famed establishment Baguette Box resides. I placed our order over the phone 15 minutes prior to waking up to pick up. I ordered the K-Ribeye baguette, lemon grass steak baguette, and truffle fries and was quoted approximately 15 minutes of wait time. I ended up waiting an extra 20 minutes for my take out order. The sandwiches were freshly made and the bread was light and crispy. The K-Ribeye had a perfect blend of spices and the spreads added on the bread was a great accent to the savory flavor. The lemongrass steak baguette was delightful and the pickled vegetables added a great depth of flavor. The truffle fries was still warm and crispy and had the perfect amount of salt and truffle oil. Overall, very well-packaged and presented sandwiches. I can see where the extra wait time may deter patrons in a hurry for a take out.

Wait time to get your food is out of control long. Ex lunch time one day I called in an order and was told pick up in 15. Showed up late and still waited 10 – 15 for my food(35 min after I called). Other than that The sandwiches are amazing! The hot spicy chicken is amazing. Have to force myself to not go on the reg

It’s been a few years since I’ve been here, but I still have mixed feelings. While the sandwiches are pretty delicious, the atrocious wait times aren’t. Given how many people are working behind the counter, they are ridiculously slow. Like, what’s everyone doing back there? Assembling and expediting should be your top priorities when catering to a lunch crowd with limited time. A co-worker and I had lunch here recently and when we arrived, a group of people were waiting for their food and there was one guy ahead of us in line to order. We stood there for about 7mins and in that time, the guy in front of us gave up and left. We placed our orders(lemongrass steak & korean bbq sandwiches) and proceeded to wait, and wait, and wait. A couple came in after us and we were the only two tables, but the kitchen couldn’t seem to get the sandwiches out. The other table received one of their sandwich first, even though they ordered after us, then my co-worker received hers. I didn’t get mine until about 10 mins after that, and by then, my co-worker was almost done eating! It always makes for an awkward dining experience when one person gets their food long before the other. Ugh. Note to the kitchen: get organized and get food out faster.

Mixed feelings about this place. I arrived form the airport and my friend directly took me here for some deliciousness. I ordered the drunken chicken which was great. Almost too big to eat with your hands, lots of flavor and over all good. So the meh rating? We waited nearly 15 mins for a sandwich and there was NOONETHERE. I was a little peeved that the cashier didn’t tell me they were finishing a large order otherwise we would have headed somewhere else. Also the price, $ 9? Traditional bun mi sandwiches, about the same size around about 1⁄3 of the price.

Stumbled across this gem last year(2014) and went back two more times over the next four days… we loved it! Came back today(2015) and not so much(albeit, the front cashier guy was as cool as they come)…we had our usual Korean Rib Eye baguette… five hours later and still waiting for the heartburn to dissipate. Not sure why both our sandwiches were explosively hot? Maybe it was prepared right after something spicy had been grilled or maybe the recipe has changed? We are going to try them again in fairness… if we arrive to the same result then will title next review «A hiatus hernias dream… stock up on Rolaids»…lol.

Walked in here thinking that I was going to get Vietnamese sandwich, came out never wanting to return. SERVICE: terrible kitchen staff… as I walked in I was proactive in greeting the staff but all I got was an annoyed stare. Are you annoyed that you are getting business? As I was standing there and placing my order with the cashier, the kitchen couple was looking at me in disgust and it was clear that they were miserable and did not want to be there. Hey! I am the cause of your hatred of your life. Surprisingly. the kitchen staff couple were the owners! What a way to run your business. BTW, I was the only customer in the shop and it literally took me at least 10mins to get my one sandwich order. How slow is that! FOOD: Thinking of overly sweet & sour sauced mystery meat in a poorly baked bun. For whatever reason the whole sandwich was too tart… perhaps they can ease off the sauce. I will not be back… There are plenty of other options on the Hill… in case you haven’t noticed.

If I could post more than one review, I would write 5-star reviews for Baguette Box every single day. This is hands down my favorite lunch spot in Seattle. The sandwiches are what they are known for, I have had every type of meat on the menu, and I can without a doubt say they are all delicious. My personal favorite are the pork belly, k-spicy pork and the drunken chicken. Nick mans the register and is extremely nice. He accommodates any modifications, no questions asked. My go-to are the bowls. They are INCREDIBLE. I change up the meat on the drunken chicken bowl every time I go here and they are always great with modifying my order. The chef comes up with all of the recipes and cooks everything fresh each day. And he is super nice to boot! Now let me touch on the side dishes. Here are my recommendations: ALL. OF. THEM. The spicy onion rings are delicious and have just the perfect amount of kick. But my favorite are the truffle fries. You pay a few dollars more than the normal fries but these are some of the best fries I have ever eaten. Just amazing. The prices are great too! The service is great and the employees are great. I couldn’t ask for a better dining experience.

Baguette! It’s all in the name– crunchy, flaky and springs in the center. Its hot chicken, pork and beef with fresh herbs and well rounded marination and sauces are the reasons we come back. We order the green bean salad. I have never eaten so many green beans in one sitting! Feta and balsamic vinaigrette season it; that’s why. the first time I came here to meet a friend, but parking took about 30 minutes. They were teasing us as we left, but it’s definitely one of those that I will had to go back to check out. I can tell you from one drop in, that the place smells absolutely delightful and the staff is funny and good humored. One thing that bothered me was the door slamming every time it closed. It’s pretty consistent!

Tried this place for the first time and loved it! Being doggie friendly is an added plus too! Got the pork shoulder sandwich. The pork is so tender and moist and the toppings complimented the pork perfectly as well. Would also definitely recommend the kbbq rice bowl. A perfect blend of bbq, warm rice, cold pickled cucumbers and roasted garlic. Yum! Just what I needed before a show at the paramount. The regular fries were crispy and delicious, really want to try the truffle fries next time!
