A good and trustworthy specialist is, in a nutshell, priceless. I found Dr. Backman on my own after the Dentist I’d been going to said I needed a root canal. I’ve lived a nightmare with being butchered by various Dentists and Endodontists, so I knew something was fishy. The receptionist was kind enough to schedule an appointment for me, and I went to him for a second opinion. Suspicion confirmed, I didn’t need a root canal, and he referred me to my now primary Dentist whom I adore. He did not charge me for this. This was about three years ago. Last week I found myself in need of his services. I had oral surgery, no pain, but the expected pain during recovery, which is always going to be painful. There is no getting around that due to the nature of the work this man does. He can only do so much to alleviate the pain, but he does repair the problem. The man excels in his field. My teeth may look great, but my mouth is now a butchered mess. Had I been going to a person of his level of expertise and integrity; I would not have the problems I currently do. Highly recommend.

I give Dr. Backman 1 star for fixing my tooth, but services was horrible!!! Worst in town! I went there as referred by my dentist and was there for an eval. After the eval, the receptionist quickly checked my insurance and told me the amount I’m responsible for. I want to warn you all, be sure to ask them to get a pre-authorization code before paying your portion because they will send you a big bill after. I called them about it and one lady told me she will look into with my insurance, but nothing was done. I called again and I was told that they never get pre-authorization. What kind of dental place is this that they don’t even call your insurance to get pre-authorization. The receptionist was mean and rude!!!

After waking up with a mouth full of pain at 2:30am, I knew I was in trouble. After my emergency dental appointment with Dr. Broom(also reviewed), I received a referral to Endodontics Northwest for a root canal. Ugh. Dr. Backman was my assigned doc. I lucked out. I mean, lucked out beyond the whole mouthful-of-pain-and-needing-a-root-canal thing. Never having had a root canal or other work requiring a dental specialist, I was quite anxious upon sitting in the«hot seat.» Especially without any tequila available. Dr. Bachman talked throughout the entire process, and seemed to be especially concerned about my comfort level. Since I, too, was concerned about my comfort level, I was very grateful for the attention and chatter. And the extra shot of numbing agent. Seriously, for an event that I would rather not repeat, I feel much better knowing there are endodontists like Dr. Backman around.
