Just drove past the site that WAS Asian Flame Bistro on Aurora… saw it rebranded as Country House??? Had to give it a star to get this posted, since not applicable isn’t an option on Unilocal. Guess it didn’t last to one year since my initial visit. Too bad because the food was decent. Hope this location fares better for Country House instead.

With mad anticipation of trying out the yummy foods presented by pictures from Unilocal,I was pretty excited to try out this place. With a set goal in mind, I was ready to order the moment I sat down. Before even cracking open the menu, I was already rattling off the things I wanted to try: shaken beef, basil drink, and shrimp in a pineapple,…However, my plan went kapooot. With the recent change in ownership(as I was informed by the waitress), the items that have been featured in the many Unilocal photos are no longer on the menu. :[ No more red rice, shaken beef, the cool basil drink thing… etc. Instead, the menu has been revamped into a typical phở/teriyaki items. Despite the huge disappointment, my mom and I decided to try out other dishes such as: fried shrimp, lemongrass beef, rice combo plate and Thai Iced Tea /Fresh Lemonade. Overall, food here is average. The fried shrimp had an odd coconut flavor to it and when mixed with the sweet and sour sauce(typically used with eggrolls), the taste was underwhelming and too sweet. As for the drinks, the Thai Iced Tea had a bit too much milk, and the lemonade made me cringe a bit with its über sourness. As for the main dishes, it was very very salty. The combo rice dish lacked any distinct flavor, with the kalbi style meat being salty and burnt, the shrimp dry and hard. The fish sauce that came with it was mostly vinegar and no spice. As for the lemongrass beef, there was no real taste of lemongrass, instead, it was a pile of mushy, chewy beef that had more of a curry flavor than lemongrass. Despite the poor execution of the food, the interior of the place is pretty spacious and nice. Most of the prices for the food were below $ 8 and there is plenty of parking nearby. The service is a bit slow and you do have to flag down a staff member if you want napkins or a water refill.

The main dishes are good, but a bit above average price. The banh mi is the best I’ve ever had and is $ 7, and it’s big enough to split into two meals! Come try something new and split a sandwich as a backup option

This place has great dinner specials! Their phở is decent and so is their vermicelli bowl although the pork was overly salty, so I may try something else next time. Their shaking beef dish was delicious when I tried my friend’s. The restaurant itself isn’t huge or especially fancy-looking but it definitely satisfies my Viet food craving from time to time, and it’s a bit closer than Mekong Village.

Those chicken wings!!! This spot was on my radar all because of the two«M’s»: Marc M and Monica B! I saw them hit this spot several times raving about those wings. I just had to check them out for myself. Now Seattle has no shortage of Vietnamese restaurants and cafes. So you really have to present something phenomenal to stand out. And those chicken wings at Asian Flame Bistro are it! They’re salty, crunchy, moist, and a little spicy. It’s served with a sweet chili dipping sauce, jalapenos, and onions. The reality is those wings can stand on its own, there’s no need for any accompaniments. We’ve also ordered the Vermicelli noodle bowls. We’ve had the grilled chicken, grilled pork and grilled shrimp and all are pretty good, too! They offer generous portions, for both dine-in and take-out. This little spot off Aurora Ave is a definite must for my chicken wing cravings!

This restaurant use to be ‘phở on aurora’ and then ‘phở mimi’ and it was hands down the best phở I have ever had. My family would come at least once a week. It’s been sad to become so close to the owners and then to see them leave… So, when I saw that it is now Asian Flame Bistro — we were a little skeptical because the menu was larger, we were concerned about the quality of the food. We ordered spring rolls and fried chicken wings for appetizers. Amazing. The wings with the onions and garlic were just so delicious. Definitely better quality than most places. And of course, I had to try the phở. I love that they plate things individually — presentation is awesome. The broth was good. I’m a phở snob haha so I give it a 7 out of 10 stars. But overall everything was good. We were thoroughly impressed with the food and service. The two young girls who served us were really sweet as well. I also loved that they had a $ 6.99/entrée deal which was a sweet surprise when we got our tab. We will definitely be back :)

Hands down some of the best Asian food I have ever had. I simply cannot express how great this place is! We’ve gone over 20 times and not one has our server ever jot been great, our food has always been spectacular, and after only 3 times they remember who we were and what we wanted to eat! Fantastic place! Tell your friends!

Asian Flame Bistro might have to be one of my favorite places to eat around this area. I have been here 3 times and my experience have been great so far. Everyone that works here are so friendly! The place is kept clean and I like how you have enough space between each tables and chairs. On to the food! I usually order their shaking beef and the pineapple shrimp(served on a real pineapple). I’ve tried their spring rolls, shrimp fried rice which is plentiful and not greasy, grilled pork and pork chops, and phở combo(sucks that they don’t have chili oil). Everything tastes good and cooked perfectly. Would highly recommend this place. Oh and ask them about their $ 6.99 special! :)

Really amazing Vietnamese sandwich! Perfectly cooked bread, a lot of meat and great sauce. Huge portions too! Only complaint is that the veggies aren’t pickled like it is normally served

Went here with my Family for a Sunday evening dinner. The location is a bit sketchy, but the interior spaces wasn’t bad. The food was good. We had the calamari for appetizer and it was a surprisingly combination of sweet/salty flavor battered squid(?) paired with grilled white onions and a(generic) Thai Chili Sweet/Sour dipping sauce. For my entre, I had a Vermicelli noodle bowl with Grilled Pork and Egg Rolls. While I could have used more noodles, the grilled pork(Thit Nuong) was deliciously flavored and the Egg Rolls was on point. I suspect that the Sandwiches will be as well. I will investigate this further. Others ordered the«Shaking Beef» dish, and though it was flavorful, I didn’t consider it to be a deep as I wanted. But this is harder to achieve for most restaurants. Phở was ordered, however, I don’t know how it was received. No complaints though. My final judgement is, yes, I would totally come back to eat if I was in the area and I would recommend this place to others.

This restaurant has been in my bookmarks since they opened and I finally took the opportunity to stop in and check them out. Why the heck did I not come here sooner, the food here is amazing! For my first trip here, I went with the chicken wings appetizer and a grilled pork banh mi both of which exceeded my expectations. The wings are seriously some of the best you will find anywhere as they are good, quality wings with a flavor that just says«eat all of me right now and then order more». No joke, those wings are the bomb! As I was just about finished with my wings, the banh mi arrived at my table and I had to clear out some space as this thing was freaking huge. Definitely a bigger sandwich than you will get at other places and the ingredients are all freshly prepared and delicious. My one thing to nitpick isn’t really a negative at all, just a personal preference. The French roll, while it was a large and fluffy pile of awesome, the signature crunchy crust of most banh mi sandwiches just wasn’t there. Again, not a complaint as it was still very delicious, I’m just really big on texture so that crusty crunch is kind of a big deal for me. The location is right on Aurora in North Seattle so super easy access and there’s a decent amount of parking is available. The dining area has tons of space so large groups would be easy to accommodate although it’s not too spacious so you still get the feeling of a nice, cozy restaurant. The one staff member I interacted with was super friendly and helpful and they go to great lengths to make everyone feel welcome. I’m definitely looking forward to coming back so I can try more of their menu items or maybe just a gigantic pile of those amazing wings.

Before we even sit down, I order the chicken wings, which are pretty darn good for the north end(even better that I don’t have to go to the ID to get my wing fix)! I’ve paid many visits to this restaurant and try to order a new dish each time. I’ve had the banh mi, wok tossed noodles, beef stew, phở, shrimp fried rice and chicken salad and have not been disappointed. We stopped in for dinner last night to take advantage of their $ 6.99 menu and were disappointed when the honey walnut prawn dish wasn’t available — they were out of walnuts. I’m easy to forgive on that one because their food is awesome. The place is clean, modern looking and the staff is friendly.

I was curious about this place since they’ve opened so recently, our Ph Club came here for dinner. There were six of us and we were hungry folk! The inside of the restaurant is sparsely decorated, blue Christmas lights in the window frames and simple black chairs at the tables. My husband ordered the grilled chicken banh mí, which he felt was a little pricey at $ 6.95. When it arrived though, it was easily enough for two! I chose the grilled pork plate with rice. For an additional dollar each, I added a fried egg and red rice(ketchup) instead of the plain steamed. I wished for a little more pork and more flavour to the rice. Several of our group ordered the combination beef phở and one friend ordered the vegetarian phở. The consensus was that the ingredients were fresh but they felt they had enjoyed better broth at other places. I had to ask for water refills for the table and one of our group waited a little too long to receive his drink order from the sole server. The tables were clean and there was ample parking all around the restaurant. When we were done eating, we weren’t sure if we paid at the register or not but after waiting, we went ahead and paid so we could leave. I don’t know if I’d return here when there are other places that offer similarly priced fare that tastes better.

Back in the day when this building was Aurora Phở, I came here a lot. I wasn’t a fan of Phở Mimi and only came here twice. The newest business to take over is Asian Flame Bistro. The space gives an open feel and things like real table cloths add a nice touch. We had one server who was really responsive and friendly. The phở broth has more star anise in it than I’m used to. It’s not a bad thing; just distinctive. The spring rolls were a disappointment. They looked beautiful but could have been wrapped tighter. The sauce had bits of something in it that I couldn’t identify. I hadn’t had that type of sauce anywhere before — there was a hoisin flavor to it. I prefer peanut sauce. The chicken wings… the star of the show! In general, I’m not a fan of slicing the chicken skin as it tends to dry out the meat. That being said, it does give a crispy texture that you otherwise wouldn’t get. The flavor of the wings will bring me back. Garlic and salt — pretty much my idea of a good time. So good! My friend and I ordered a pork bahn mi. On the menu, it was listed for $ 6.95. We were both skeptical since from our perspective, you can get a great banh mi for $ 3. Wow! We were surprised when it came out and immediately understood the price. It must have been a foot long and cut in half. It was wider than bread I’m used to. It was soft with just a little crunch. The meat inside was sliced thin. I typically don’t like that because it dries the meat out. Not the case here. It retained good flavor and moisture. The veggies were lightly pickled which I’m not a fan of. Overall, I’m glad I went. I’d go back for the chicken wings alone.

Just enjoyed my second excellent dinner @ Asian Flame Bistro! Tonight, I had the chicken salad replete with fresh cabbage, pickled veggies, mint, and shredded chicken… healthy & delish! I also added a fresh whole coconut that was full of tasty juice and they even cut it open for me to enjoy the pulp afterwards! The staff goes above and beyond to deliver great meals with a nice presentation and friendly service. Come enjoy this small gem so it can stay in business… I want to keep eating here :)

Great new phở restaurant where Phở Mimi used to be. this is on Aurora right across from Firestone. The new owners changed up the décor to class it up a bit and have nice entrée items such as honey walnut prawns and shaking beef. The phở came out in a nice presentation and we were impressed with the flavor of the broth. I love the amount of phở —(one size= large) lots of protein, really hot, and fresh condiments on the side(bean sprouts, basil, jalepenos, and lime) Since they’re doing a grand opening, we received fried bananas wrapped in egg roll wrapping. it was surprisingly good and a new twist to the ‘cream puffs’… this may be our new Phở place in north seattle :)

Food comes out quick. Staff attentive and friendly. Complimentary fried banana dessert. Basil lime cooler drink is refreshing! Phở is flavorful but noodles break when you pick them up with chopsticks – not sure if it was just me.

I was initially bummed when I found out Phở Mimi(the original restaurant) closed. After my experience here, I don’t think I will miss it anymore. The layout inside has not really changed much from the Phở Mimi days, however it’s definitely a lot nicer and they spent a lot of effort cleaning the place up and making the place look a lot tidier. They had a TV that we were watching the news on while we waited so that is a plus. The service was fantastic. The young man was a very personable person and even offered us a free lime basil drink that I actually am now addicted to. He was very patient with us when we were waiting for a friend that was running a little late as well. As far as the food goes, I ordered the chicken wings and a large meatball phở. The chicken wings were very good. Typical salt and pepper wings but there is the honey glaze that adds a little bit of sweetness to the mix. The phở was great. They have a distinct slice of a red jalapeño pepper and they gave a decent amount of noodles and meat as well. The broth was a little saltier then I am used it was still enjoyable. Overall, I wouldn’t say that the phở blew my mind, but it’s certainly above average compared to the many phở places I go to in the Seattle area.

First off the decore and ambience, I am not sure which I like more the decore or the ambience. The server was very friendly and well spoken. He told us his aunt ran phở Mimi and got arthritis so they bought it from her. We started of with a drink on the house it was a lime basil drink and was quite good. Then we went into the apps. Delicious chicken wings and spring rolls. The wings were salty sweet with a thia sweet chili dipping sauce. The rolls had shrimp and pork in them, it also boasted fried rice paper core and pickled cucumbers and carrots. Just a little added taste to stand out. It also came with a peanut supper sauce. I had phở and it was a touch salty, which is absolutely fine with me. I also had extra noodles. The sides came with parsley as well which is a nice extra. The server brought us a free desert because they are still in grand opening right now. This was a fried banana roll in a bed of sweet coconut cream sauce and drizzled chocolate on top. I enjoyed the this dining experience and will be recommending it to friends.
